Blonde yes four of us! Well done! I'm wearing it with MiH Paris in storm and am warm enough in garden.

Wondering if good idea to not wear coat today. Probably still too cool.

Welcome Frugal

Anni Whistles, something new is always fun.

Yes to style here too, I sometimes have a good budget sometimes I don't.

Liberty sounds tough, hope there's light at end of the tunnel soon.

Apols patchy catch up, back properly later.

Have the AV on! to match the sunny weather Smile

Dark and gloomy early spring Anni - sunscreen a mistake today - trees in bloom though. Bare legs - dream on! Wink

Loving Shopafrolic's boyfriends (will copy that idea - have a pair from 10 years ago with ripped knees - in fact they are boyfriends also in the sense that we share a long history) and MrsRadicchio's Oxfam online link.

Glad you like the Atterley Rd cardigan Winefairy, I get scared when I recommend something incase people come back and say it's hideous :o

Get the silver Balenciaga Amber, it's a lovely bag and will annoy your Mil

Please stay Shop, i'm not spending for a while now, unless I get ebay funds.

It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow, dh has booked the day off and there will be lunch (including ds2, so nowhere fancy)

Do I wear the new Whistles grey jacket that dh doesn't know about or the Great Plains slouchy cardigan that dh doesn't know about with jeans, ballet flats and red Dvf bag?

Morning all! Amber Hope youre better. Love the links liberty and also Decameron love the bag, I saw it in the US last week. It's sort of an homage to miu miu isn't it? I have sort of been eyeing up the miu miu one for a while and this season, prada who own miu miu have done their own version. I think I am going to get it in black but wait until this winter to see if i still like it - I tend to stalk bags for about 2 years before I finally buyGrin.

Frugal, absolutely room for you here too! I have a bigger budget than your average person but i love clothes right across the spectrum so certainly dont let my or anyone elses budget put you off! i like your descriptions feel free to link away.Grin

This morning I feel great if I say so myself. I am trying to be more adventurous with colours. I am wearing an Austin reed black dress, Hobbs jacket, my leopard print aspinal bag (did I moan yet that the sodding thing malts?!) and first outing for my banana republic orange trench coat. I have just realised that I am ring less though Shock which is not me. I am wearing my Tiffanys charm bracelet (especially for the haters on the pandora threadGrinGrin).

Morning all,

Have skimmed thread, no time at the moment to get properly involved but loving all the chat.

Shop just wanted to add my sympathies Sad. Maybe hold onto the voucher like Decam suggests, as end of March is still a long way off and things may have changed by then.

Marsha, Shop, Foxy - room for one more in the AV gang? Grin. I also got it from SP with the great discount but haven't worn yet. Colour is amazing. Like you Foxy it seems a bit short (I am also tall), but think when weather warms up a bit I'll be more inclined to get my bum on show!!

Decam I have those J Brand Rail jeans, my brother bought them in the US for me instead of the 912s I normally have. They're a bit shorter in the leg than the 912s (32" I think), but perfect for just sitting on top of my Bea's. You'll love them!

Amber hope you feel better soon. I'm on day 3 of a hangover from Saturday night Shock. Am a hopeless drinker, so out of practice.

Hi to everyone else, will be back with links to recent purchases later. Have nice sunny days all, I'm off to fill a skip, oh the glamour!

Hi all, I'm a sometime lurker and longtime lover of vintage Dior and great style & fashion books Wink Hope there is room here for someone like me here...

Am in recessionista mode right now. Austerity is such a negative word - let's say I'm being fiscally responsible Grin But what I'm really doing is cutting down on mindless spending and embracing and enjoying what I already have.

Outfit of the day: Topshop pleated leather skirt (2011?), Lindex (under the radar Swedish high street chain, known for cheap and cheerful retro childwear) black scoop neck long-sleeved cotton tee from circa 2010, neon orange/white collarless cropped jacket with black zip from Zara (sales find last summer), black opaques, black Zara ballerinas (2011?).
The silhouette is A line with a nod to mod classics. Très Raf Simons but on a shoestring Grin

Nude nails, face flawless with a 50/50 mix of LRP Anthelios tinted and regular suncreen, brows done with ash brown eye shadow (a way to use up those old too dark palette leftovers). Blusher and lippy from old stash.

On my nightstand, a recessionista classic and trendsetter, Alexander von Schönburg's book from 2005. (No English version available - why not?)

Anyone else in fiscally responsive mode?

I would also happily use the voucher too, Shop, if you don't mind! They have the blazer in stock that I like. The vouchers work for more than one person (as I have emailed mine on before) although they say it is user specific.

Good luck with all your work, Liberty and your return to work, McNally. Love those loafers and top.

Drywhite, we don't have a full length mirror at the moment so I live in ignorant bliss but hate the rear view shock I get in changing rooms.

Need your opinions on this bag: media-cache-ec6.pinterest.com/originals/60/48/48/6048480b22438cad76051ce237884908.jpg? Or should I keep saving and saving for the Prada bag I linked too a while back?

Report
libertychick · 05/03/2013 00:12

Oh yes and message to McNally as a tights option other than opaques or nudes I have been wearing black fishnets and these lovely dotty tights both from M&S.
Good luck with the return to work from Mat leave.

On yes and my shopping update...returned Topshop shoes, loafers very tight and the others were a lovely shape but v hard leather. Life is too short to spend weeks breaking in shoes.

Ordered these loafers instead and took advantage of the Whistles 25% off. Also decided to go for the I&I silk top in off white and while on the outnet decided to order black trousers as well. All sensible basics, and that's my allocated budget for March gone!

Ahhhh I am so behind - work a complete nightmare and staying that way for the next 5 weeks or so at least.
Good work all concerned on the AV jumper.
Dec love that navy blazer and the kalico one (sorry can't remember who linked it).
Shop so sorry about your news but as you say best to know what you are dealing with. I work in a sector with a lot of redundancies in recent years - the tension and stress drove me so crazy I just jumped ship and went freelance - which brings other stresses but at least I feel in control. And don't leave the thread...it's about style, not just shopping!
Another vote here for the Gap yellow bag - v vibrant colours and good size and shape, leather a little bit thin but for under £50 it's a great bag IMO - may get the green version with the upcoming 30% off.
QueenC - I find it hard to buy myself jewellery too - what is that about??? As you say on cost per wear it's usually a much better buy than clothes. Re dying clothes as Amber says polyester threads won't dye - I generally only dye jeans so that's ok.
Has anyone seen/bought a nice spring time coat? I pulled out my Gap trench and it has weird marks on it I had forgotton about. I could dye it though...hmmm there's a thought....
Marsha, not ignoring your pm - have just been swamped and had problems logging in at the weekend...will reply v soon.
And finally - the return of Dona good to know you are lurking Smile
Waves to everyone!!

I have dropped a few, ahem, delicate hints regarding the cuff for mother's day Shop. I will likely just get given the cash, but that'll do me. While I would gladly take a Matches voucher off your (or indeed anyone's) hands, surely you can make use of it?

Think I might make the purchase this weekend (has especially good value as MIL will be visiting, and I love to antagonise her with my spending after she called me a gold-digger. Never mind that I have a job or anything, y'know). Think I have gone full circle and settled on the silver. Will be nice for summer.

Argh, have to be up early and have my wits about me tomorrow, so of course I can't sleep. Have gOne for MrsR's suggestion and laid out my favourite things to wear.

shop sorry about DH. I thought this thread was for people who just love nice clothes....but don't necessarily buy them all! I wore a Matalan.....yes MATALAN ladies....navy wool blazer ( on my Pinterest clothes Ss13 board) today, cost me £35! A designer friend cooed over it, as my teenaged son would say "result!"

Have received the Rag and Bone cigarette jeans.....not 30" inside leg, but v lovely.......Unfortunately I took front and back photos and then front and back pics of my fav jeans to compare and a pair of Next relaxed skinny jeans recommended on another thread. All looked hideous....hate my arse. Am hoping that the J Brand ones will miraculously look fabulous on me. Trying jeans on is horrid.

Wisdom tooth extraction tomorrow.....bloody hell!

So sorry to hear that job news shop. Fingers crossed that something else will turn up soon. From Pin and this thread it seems that you have some lovely things in your wardrobe so hopefully a spending hiatus won't be too sad. Here's hoping for some more good ebay sales too.

Glad the AV jumper was a success. Love that three of you can compare notes.

Been at work today in preparation for going back after maternity leave. It is a dress down firm but wanted to feel a bit more professional so wore a grey Gerard Darel shift dress with opaques and black patent heels. Felt almost too wintery, and as if I should be breaking out the colours. Trouble is that I'm not confident with bare legs in the office and I can't really cope with the idea of nude tights. May have to crack open the gradual tanner now in the hope that by the time the sun does come out my legs won't dazzle anyone (in the wrong way!).

I've just found the whistles seam back tee on asos for £21 in grey and red if anyone's interested.

Mrsap I love yellow bags. I have one but its a bit too close in price to Amber's suggestion so won't out selfGrinI am thinking of getting the balenciaga in yellow, errrm not that it helps you.Blush I mean its such a great spring summer colour for a bag.

I saw a dress in Oasis on Saturday which I really like and wasn't going to get it but on another thread someone posted a code (look30) with 30% discounted so am now tempted for £28. Definitely in keeping with being a high street month for me. I will look for link and post.
