For lots of nice stuff, links and so on.

Mrsap · 06/02/2013 07:49

I am a gap always skinny jeans wearer. However I am never really that happy with the fit. I have never really thought to try premium denim but this thread has convinced me that is the way forward. I think I am going to do a mass order and try them on.

Gleaning from here, 7fam, gold signs, j brand, mih, elliot. Anymore?

Drywhiteplease · 06/02/2013 07:54

I'm not a premium jeans wearer.....but because of MN, my age ( I think I need some by now and my children are older so no crawling around) and my imminent trip to US, I'm planning to invest. The only thing is I've got short legs and object to having to chop a bit off and worry it will spoil to line?

QueenCadbury · 06/02/2013 08:24

I'm a gap girl as I can't abide skinnies (too restrictive) but love their real straight. However after reading this I'm a bit worried what my arse looks like!

I have also been convinced to try premium though as soon as I can get to do a try on session.

I'm an untucker too. I have a long body and the proportions of tucking in just don't flatter me. Don't even get me started on belts. For me too they are strictly to hold up trousers.

shopafrolic · 06/02/2013 08:26

Mrsap think that covers it! Grin
Drywhite The cropped J Brands that I was linking to yesterday and MiH would be fine. IMO 7FAM come up long (which is why they are great for me!).

BrandyAlexander · 06/02/2013 08:40

Thank you, that's really interesting to hear what everyone thinks. I shall await the reports back on the new jeans, and maybe try some next sales. Shop 34 leg? Ha! Ha! Ha! In my dreams :). I am 30.

So today I am travelling on business, so I can contribute to the white shirt debate. :). I am wearing charcoal grey trouser suit (Austin Reed), a Thomas Pink white shirt tucked in (always for formal!), and the debut of my Louboutins. Topped off with the new Balenciaga (lady at airport security complimented me!), John Lewis coat. Jewellery - going for the classic look as I have important meetings so Tiffany studs, cross and charm bracelet, and my new Raindance ring which I love.

AmberNectarine · 06/02/2013 08:59

I just took my Paige boyfriends to be altered. I went for a 29 as I wanted them a little long to roll up!!

Drywhite I find Goldsign the best length fort short legs!

AmberNectarine · 06/02/2013 09:06

mrsap Mother, Citizens of Humanity, Paige, James, Nobody and AG all worth a look too.

AmberNectarine · 06/02/2013 09:07

Oh and I like Nudie at a slightly more sensible price point!

MarshaBrady · 06/02/2013 09:19

I wore Gap, Levi's and Cheap Mondays all through 20s, I remember buying 7fam for first time after ds1 arrived. Felt quite amazed at all these new brands. Keen on MiH, J Brand, would like to try Goldsign but best bit is not paying full price.

I think I tuck for any work related stuff and not if home. But I rarely wear shirts if not at work.

Great outfit Novice happy travels and have a good meeting.

What's everyone wearing today?

Am ill, need inspiration!

OP posts:
Mrsap · 06/02/2013 10:07

Thx ladies. I am going to add all those other brands to my list. Credit card is going to take a hammering soon I think. Although I too am v short of leg 29 ish and have no hips whatsoever so perhaps goldsigns r the way. Will report back.

shopafrolic · 06/02/2013 10:11

Marsha ill here too - feels as tho DS and I have had this cold for about a month. Am wearing prune James skinnies, prune Ash Bowies, black M&S vest and grey A&W peacock sweatshirt. Amber would be proud!
Novice safe flight, always love getting complimented by strangers, hope meetings go well.
Novice only wear a 34 if have heels on! I'm not a gazelle! Grin

McNally · 06/02/2013 10:45

Hi all. Reading the posts about premium denim with interest. I've been a convert for a couple of years, buying mainly instore at Trilogy (and then having them altered by having about a foot cut off the bottom!). J Brand cigarette leg are the best style for me but I rarely see straight/cigarette styles in the sales and so have always paid full price. Am I a total mug?!

Get better soon Marsha and shopafrolic.

AmberNectarine · 06/02/2013 10:50

shop I am indeed proud - sounds like an outfit I would wear.

I am wearing black scoop neck Me&Em Ruched dress, with a black and snake print whistles belt knotted round my waist and my grey Ash Jalouse. Feels a bit sexy for work, glad I dressed down with the Jalouse.

MarshaBrady · 06/02/2013 10:50

Hi McNally and thanks!

Not entirely sure. If there aren't many around then it makes sense to still buy the ones you love rather than a sale pair you don't.

The only ones I could see so far are these James ones but size 24 and a bit different to cigarette. Will see what else there is on my travels.

OP posts:
Annianni · 06/02/2013 10:51

Well my Hudsons are doing ok so far. I wore them with superga for the school run, now wearing Sam Edelman spiky ballet flats, with a white gap slouchy tshirt, big red dvf bag and tiffany silver bits and pieces.

I can't spend £££ on tops at the moment, i'm quite clumsy when i'm cooking (even with a pinny on) and ds2 likes to cuddle, so I don't stay clean for long.

I'm hoping for a wander round selfridges but ds2 won't go in the pram anymore, so I might not get long. Although he is a total flirt and likes to smile at the assistants and chat to the mannequins.

Hope you feel better soon Marsha and Shop.

AmberNectarine · 06/02/2013 10:51

McNally - welcome. They occasionally pop up on the outnet, but I think they are a very classic style. Have you thought about ordering from the states via Shopbop as you know your size? Some good reductions to be had, even with taxes etc.

McNally · 06/02/2013 10:56

Will try Shopbop. Thanks for the suggestion Amber. I need to get over my reluctance to buy online. My most recent disaster was an American Retro sweater from the Donna Ida sale that is going back today!

shopafrolic · 06/02/2013 10:57

Hi McNally did a quick search on straight legs on the Outnet and got these:
www.theoutnet.com/intl/Shop/Clothing/Jeans/Straight_Leg
I've seen them at Anna before I think but only Twiggys at the moment
www.shopatanna.com/shop-James-Jeans-14

shopafrolic · 06/02/2013 10:59

Outfits sound good Anni - don't think my DS would be any good at all in Selfridges!

McNally · 06/02/2013 11:12

Thank you Shopafrolic. Some of those look great. I clearly haven't been looking hard enough!

That outfit sounds lovely Anni.

It is such a shame that babies and shopping trips don't really mix isn't it? Feel I should be making the most of the end of my maternity leave by updating my wardrobe but can't bear the thought of the inevitable baby meltdown!

MarshaBrady · 06/02/2013 11:18

Aw Anni ds2 is the same. Has a thing for lift buttons too. I haven't taken him to Liberty for quite some time as that's all he wants to do, go in the lift. Plus no pram so really heavy at 3. It was easier when he was really little if you could time with a sleep, was always ready to do changing room bf.

Hi everyone, thanks for the suggestions re leather trousers Amber they all look good, will get trying.

My best Vogue moment this morning was seeing one of the mums dropping off at nursery wearing this jacket. I know I am risking a flaming because it is real fur and as such very bad but oh it was STUNNING! More blue than it looked in the picture, worn with skinny jeans and pistols, bright lippy, she looked amazing.
