For lots of nice stuff, links and so on.

Swoon at neon loubs amber.

Shop I will be wearing orange (quite a lot, I think, especially since I have just found the perfect neon orange lipstick), will be toning it down by adding dark olive (blazer for work), or khaki (jeans), or possibly lizard grey. Am also liking the idea of lizard grey with lime. I will also probably do the (inevitable) summer nautical look in red/cream if I bother with it. I normally turn to coral quite a lot in summer too, and oyster. Pretty for summer dresses/linen etc.

Hopefully · 02/02/2013 23:13

I now have a slight mental image of myself in orange dress, orange lippy and orange louboutins. Ahem.

shopafrolic · 03/02/2013 07:44

Thanks Hopefully. Am already there with the red / cream nautical so starting to find my way then. I haven't tried any of my yellows / lime or oranges so I think I need to be braver having got AW sorted! Loving your blog by the way! Glad you're back!

BrandyAlexander · 03/02/2013 07:45

Hi Amber, my Balenciaga hasn't arrived yet. I am surprised as Browns sent me the dispatch email on Thursday afternoon. I casually told dh yesterday (while he was quite jet lagged) how much I spent in the 4 days he was away and I was home sick Grin

Shop and QueenBoo, a tip for you....unless its a fashion emergency and I can't find accessories to match, I only tend to shop in Swaroski 2 months of the year - Jan and June because their discounts tend to be very good, especially towards the end of those months. I plan ahead and get stuff for myself and presents for others with the 50% off.

With most of my friends and I hitting the big 4-0 this "academic year", I have been trying to mark the occasion with personalised gifts. I have discovered www.etsy.com and there are some nice things on there that I might get for upcoming birthdays.

On the black thing, I have consciously trying to avoid getting black tops and dresses over the last couple of years. I still wear dark colours at work though as I think that looks more professional, hence my obsession with statement accessories. I am more colourful with weekend day wear casual, or holiday clothes but could still do with more colours. I might look at more desigual for ss13.

BrandyAlexander · 03/02/2013 07:59

Shop, more orange for you.... I bought this trench in Banana Republic last month about 2 days before the snow hit so haven't worn it but looking forward to it. The excellent sales assistant persuaded me to get it rather than stay in the comfort zone of a darker colour. bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=236175&locale=en_US&kwid=1&sem=false&sdReferer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fsearch%3Fclient%3Dms-rim%26hl%3Den%26q%3Dorange%2520trench%2520banana%2520republic%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26channel%3Dbrowser

BrandyAlexander · 03/02/2013 08:01

Damn! I meant orange trench

AmberNectarine · 03/02/2013 08:04

novice I saw your Marcie in Matches yesterday - not my colour but wow, she is gorgeous!

AmberNectarine · 03/02/2013 08:09

Urgh, I hate MN sometimes. I posted on the bargain thread to offer advice on cheap nail polish and a few posts down there is a bitchy comment basically aimed at me/this thread. I don't slag anyone off based on their budget and wouldn't dream of it, why is it ok in reverse?

shopafrolic · 03/02/2013 08:15

Thanks for the Swarovski tip Novice although I musn't buy anymore costume jewellery now that my social life has dwindled to nothing post DS!

BrandyAlexander · 03/02/2013 08:21

Hi Amber, I saw that comment. Ignore, ignore, ignore. I am thoroughly enjoying this thread and other than the bitchy comment, am enjoying the other thread too (I hope they do more links on that one). I haven't found any competitiveness on this thread and I am glad everyone is posting ideas as its definitely inspiring me for Spring to get out out of my non-work wardrobe comfort zone.

I haven't posted on that thread as I don't have anything to contribute yet however as well as being on this thread, I am on the "What's good in Primark" thread. The two ends of the shopping spectrum are not mutually exclusive or if they are someone forgot to tell me the rules Hmm

BrandyAlexander · 03/02/2013 08:26

I forgot to add, I could be very very tempted by that Marcie in the tan. Its a bad habit of mine...I get a new bag and always end up buying it in different colours. Its how I end up with new comfort zones Grin

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2013 08:39

God it's tiresome Amber. No competition on this thread just nice stuff to look at, links from anywhere. I really don't care where people shop, don't see why it matters.

Sounds good Novice!

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 03/02/2013 08:39

Ignore Amber. That thread is great and YY to more links, and you guys on here persuaded me back into Zara and H&M which historically I had avoided because I find the choice and layout overwhelming! I don't find any of the posts competitve, I just love the variation of brands and styles talked about. It's the same comparing tops from Sainsbury's and Tesco (where historically I've bought some good quality vest tops)! S&B should be welcoming to all, and that's the way you've always been on here and on other threads. So tell me..... What are you wearing today? [Smile]

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2013 08:56

I'll be up in a minute Shop then I'll let you know Grin.

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 03/02/2013 08:56

Primark pjs!
amber I have never joined in one of the A +W now Vogue threads before (although I've been on threads with most of you over the last year) and have found it v friendly and your advice and links are lovely.
Maybe I'm thick but I looked at that message and if its the bit about tempting folk with pricey bits I thought it was tongue in cheek. The fun of clothes is mixing stuff from loads of different sources isn't it?

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2013 08:57

And I agree on links. The more the better, from anywhere.

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 03/02/2013 08:59

I'm wearing Primark zebra print fleece pyjamas and a H&M vest shop. I'm so competitive, even in repose.

AmberNectarine · 03/02/2013 09:02

No drywhite didn't mind that comment at all, it was the post referencing the 'stylish mnetter' thread I started, plus the Loubs v. Manolos chat some of us have been engaging in. I'm certainly not competitive, I don't think anyone is!

Annianni · 03/02/2013 09:03

I'm agreeing with the ignore comments above.

If you said on this thread, that you couldn't bear reading about people buying cheap clothes, there would be outrage.
But it's acceptable to say it the other way round... apparently...

I lurked on this thread for ages before daring to post.
But I now realise that it's just about pretty things and/or getting bargains.

However...

I adore the orange loubs and the silver Balenciaga and would seriously consider selling a child or maybe a kidney to fund them.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone :)

AmberNectarine · 03/02/2013 09:12

Cor, I love a bargain. It really pissed me off that I had to pay full price for that Tibi sweatshirt because my size had sold out on Shopbop! And if I do buy that Balenciaga you can bet your life it will be on a 10% off loyalty weekend at Harrods!

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2013 09:19

Lol Anni and kidneys.

It's nice to share that holy hell I've just bought this or ah I really want this. And I love it when people buy and link things on here, I feel nowt but untempered joy about it. Grin. I am pleased you're all shopping, means I can give the account a rest. So no competition no way.

I love a bargain too.

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 03/02/2013 09:26

novice have you also looked at www.notonthehighstreet.com/. They do lovely personalised gifts and spent a fortune on stuff for dh 40th.

I think there's a perception that people on this thread are 'snobby' but since joining in I've realised you're all very welcoming. It's a shame that it has to get spilt into 2 distinct camps. I love you guys for your eye for detail and colour. U pick out some gorgeous stuff that I would never consider. I'm trying to break way from my black obsession although I do still love a black outfit for going out. In the day I'm trying to wear more grey and navy as it is more flattering. I'm useless at mixing colour though which is why I desperately need to meet hopefully!

QueenCadbury · 03/02/2013 09:27

Hmmm, not sure why you has converted to u. I don't talk in text speak honest!

Hopefully · 03/02/2013 09:27

Thanks shop. Am loving having the blog back up, have got plenty of posts planned for coming weeks.

I would never dream of judging on budget - my Feb budget is exactly £0 until I've had enough clients to pay for my essentials Shock

Am currently sporting m&s pyjamas, v old sweaty betty vest and H&M sweater and a sloggi crop top because my boobs annoy me in bed.

AmberNectarine · 03/02/2013 09:33

Can I ask a very boring question - I desperately need some new pants! Nothing fancy and certainly no lace and satin! Something non nude would be preferable though. Any recs?
