Anyone want to loose just a few pounds, lets support eachother?

Madmog · 07/01/2013 14:23

I followed the loose half a stone for Xmas thread which I found really helpful. I lost 5.5lbs and put 2.5lbs back on over Xmas. I'm quite small boned and few pounds really makes the difference, but I need encouragement to get just a little more off (4/5lbs so I hit the overall over half stone mark would be good for me) and keep it off.

Is there anyone out there who wants to loose just a few pounds up to a stone, who'd like to join me on this thread? We could record our losses or failures once a week and give general support and advice if we have any.

Thanks! Grin I wasn't actually climbing equipment as had baby on hip - but then he's ginormous seven-month-old, so that probably counts as weight-lifting...

sweetheart · 11/01/2013 14:36

Hey Betty,

A 2 finger Kitkat is about 107cals (which I didn't know until now and I think s pretty low so I'll be off to stock up on some Wink) I usually burn approx 10 cals a min at the gym doing fairly vigarous workouts, I put my sports tracker on whilst shopping the other day and was surprised how many calories just walking round the shops burnt off (that was approx 3 cals a minute) sooooooo......

I'd say imagine that so long as you were busy at the soft play place for about 30 mins you should be ok with the kit kat.

sweetheart · 11/01/2013 14:37

ohhh if you're on mfp there is actually an exercise on there called something like walking whilst carrying a child! Check the exercise database Wink

YouCanCallMeBetty · 11/01/2013 14:50

Oh my goodness, that's me, like, 12 hours a day! A whole world of chocolate awaits! (Or at least a 107 calorie two-finger KitKat! Wink)

Joycey29 · 11/01/2013 21:43

Hello everyone and a big Welcome to the newbies!

Ok - can I have a halo! School disco and no alcohol or snacks passed my lips.
I also shook my booty with the kids for 2 hours.
I reckon that s made my 500 cal day a success!!

So close to giving up this am - now feeling fab Grin

Got to be good for the weekend and hope for another loss! Fingers crossed!

We can do this together!!!!!

sweetheart · 11/01/2013 21:55

Wow, we'll done Joyce what a triumph!!!

Weigh day for me tomorrow, fingers crossed!

QueenCadbury · 12/01/2013 07:51

Whoop! Despite the wine and chocolate binge the other day, I have somehow lost 6lb in total!! Just 1lb off my target! Just have to maintain it now!

MoodyDidIt · 12/01/2013 08:32

thats brilliant joyce and queen cadbury! well done

i wanted to ask a question - does anyone know, once you have reached your target weight, what do you do to maintain it? can you go back to eating up to 2000 cals a day please god i hope so

FedupofTurkey · 12/01/2013 08:38

Can I join, want to lose half a stone I put on at Christmas :(

sweetheart · 12/01/2013 08:49

2ibs off for me this week which I was pleased with until I saw QC lost 6!!!!!!ShockWink

Now have 6.8ibs to target which still seems a long way off. Hope to stay on track this weekend, I've planned some activities with the kids which will secretly burn some cals for me too. Grin

Moo, are you on mfp? There is an option on there to maintain weight based on you height, weight and lifestyle. I think it brings me out at about 1700 or 1800 cals because I mostly sit down all day at work.0

Witchesbrewandbiscuits · 12/01/2013 08:54

can i join? just joined weight watchers just for a month on a special discount offer so hoping i will lose a few pounds in the month. not read the thread yet to comment but will do. just marking my place Smile

YouCanCallMeBetty · 12/01/2013 13:54

Well done QC, Joyce and sweetheart, they're amazing results!

Weigh day for me tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Anyway, somehow after eating my virtuous breakfast of porridge, and the supposed healthy option of jacket potato and beans for lunch in our local greasy spoon, I have about 200 cals left for the rest of the day Shock .

So I'd better go for a brisk walk to bank enough cals for my bleak low-cal dinner Angry

Oh for those carefree pre-Christmas days of feasting and eating chocolate for breakfast ... actually that may have been the problem.

sweetheart · 12/01/2013 17:32

Oh Betty that did make me laugh! Yes I keep thinking U could be at my goal if I'd just behaved over Xmas BUT ya know what........ Life's too bloody short!!!! Grin

YouCanCallMeBetty · 12/01/2013 18:43

You're right sweetheart, it is too short - and it's all about balance isn't it - pig out in December, diet in January! There's nothing else going on at this time of year anyway, my diary is hardly brimming with dinner party invitations, so it could be worse!

I'm over my calories for today - went to visit lovely PIL and MIL had made her amazing scones, and arranged them all prettily on a plate (she didn't know I am on a diet). They were warm with butter melting into them and dollops of strawberry jam and cream... and I would have felt awful refusing one, when she'd made them specially. BUT I only had half, which I was pretty damn proud of!

QuinnFabray · 12/01/2013 19:54

Went to Wagamama. Did I choose the sensible 600 calorie Ramen noodle soup? No I went for the 1350 calorie coconut curry and sticy rice. Gah!

sweetheart · 12/01/2013 20:47

Whoops, some Chinese takeaway just accidentally fell in my mouth!

To be fair everyone else had Chinese, I had a much more sensible chicken kebab with lots of salad BUT ds left some Chinese on his plate and I couldn't let it go to waste! It's not AS bad as it could have been Wink

notnowbernard · 12/01/2013 20:50

Hope I'm not too late to barge in

Want to lose 6-8 lbs

I'm 10.3 st now (weighed this morn)

Going to cut out sugar and bread

MoodyDidIt · 12/01/2013 21:41

aaargh have dramatically fallen off the wagon

kfc for lunch Blush

pasta with loads of cheese on for dinner

followed by 10 a few lindt balls

i am so pissed off with myself :(

notnowbernard · 12/01/2013 22:05

How often do you weigh yourselves?

marceline · 12/01/2013 22:28

Ooh, just found this thread. I'm joining in. Just downloaded the app du jour...looks interesting. I needto lose about 6 lb. probably could do it if I just stopped eating chocolate! Maybe some inspiration and encouragement will do the trick!

sweetheart · 12/01/2013 22:32

Moody, it's done, get over it and move on. Do not waste time and energy beating yourself up over it! Just do better tomorrow xxx

Not now, I usually try to resist temptation to weigh but I usually give in about twice a week.

Joycey29 · 12/01/2013 22:36

Moody - you just made me laugh out loud! That s so ooo me on a bad day!

Well done Queen - weigh in day Tues but a sneaky peak shows I m going in the right direction!

As far as maintaining goes, mfp has a maintenance target or if you are on 5/2 method you can try 6/1, though many stick with 5/2 but indulge a bit!

Madly missing my alcohol here- Saturday nights require a gin in my book! Roll on Feb! Hmm

ceeveebee · 12/01/2013 22:55

I usually weigh on Saturday morning but forgot today - will do it tomorrow

Silly me, I though 5/2 was 5 days fasting, 2 days indulging but that's the wrong way round isn't it? (I have not be doing 5/2 btw just seen it mentioned).
I stick to 1200 all week although may go slightly over on exercise days. Weekends are my downfall - today we had scrambled eggs with mozzerella cheese and spinach for breakfast, hot smoked salmon fillet with salad (inc potato salad) for lunch and duck leg casserole with lentils and walnut bread and a glass of red for dinner. All very nice but means I was way way over today. I blame DH.

sarahlundssweater · 13/01/2013 06:38

I joined MFP on Monday, so I supose that's my weigh-in day. Although my scales are broken - DD2 dropped them on on the floor, and they've gone all funny. An excuse to pop to Ikea and get some new ones? I'll have to avoid those massive dime bars then!!

QueenCadbury · 13/01/2013 08:36

Weekends are hard aren't they? I was good all day yesterday but then fajitas and wine put me over my calories. And I didn't even have pudding. But life would be pretty miserable to stick to 1200 calories every day. Although I lst 6 lb this week I probably put on 2 yesterday. My weight fluctuates very easily!

Moody, don't beat yourself up. At least you went over your calorie intake with something as yummy as Lindt ballsGrin

I try to be good and weigh just once a week on a Saturday but I can't ever resist doing a midweek check!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and we'll all be good again come Monday!
