Anyone want to loose just a few pounds, lets support eachother?

I followed the loose half a stone for Xmas thread which I found really helpful. I lost 5.5lbs and put 2.5lbs back on over Xmas. I'm quite small boned and few pounds really makes the difference, but I need encouragement to get just a little more off (4/5lbs so I hit the overall over half stone mark would be good for me) and keep it off.

Is there anyone out there who wants to loose just a few pounds up to a stone, who'd like to join me on this thread? We could record our losses or failures once a week and give general support and advice if we have any.

Maureen, it's in S&B because of the original pre-Christmas thread. We aren't hardcore weigh losers, just shifting last few ibs.

All exercise plans for today are scrapped. Dh's nan died last night :-(

It's ok, it's been expected for quite some time, she was in her 90's. Lots of tea and sympathy today but will try my best to stay in track

Don't you hate it when you realise you've underestimated the damage - I weighed myself this morning and I was 4lb heavier than I thought. Damn! I've been very good today and have stayed within my puny 1250 calorie limit so fingers crossed!

Can I join? I'd really just like some support around not eating crap. My basic diet is good but I live with someone who eats on the sofa of an evening and I always cave in!

Hi newbies!

Can relate to that twentythirteen - it's that sofa time between dinner and bed that's hardest for me. The past week I've cleaned my teeth after dinner which has helped a bit, plus logging everything on MFP has helped me resist.

Though saying that, I'm up with DS2 who's refusing to sleep, and have just feverishly stuffed my face with two kitkats.

I mostly have to exercise in the evening when my DH gets home, so I find that when I'm finished I have more will power to eat something light, and stay away from the junk.

Sorry to hear your news Sweetheart. Hope DH is coping ok with the news. A few days out from your diet/exercise won't do much harm longterm, just need to make sure you get back on track when the time is right.

Had a few worries this week over daughter (kids!), so haven't really been concentrating on my diet. Have had days when I haven't eaten much, but then had a £10 Tesco meal deal on Friday, Pizzahut gave me a large instead of regular pizza so half came home which I consumed yesterday.

Anyway, back on tract today. Cereal, one biscuit, sandwich and salad, fruit and whatever I can rummage up for tea. Just need to resist all the alcohol, choccies and biscuits we were given for Xmas - had loads.

Ok ive just had a reality check! started using my fitness pal app this morning and only have 487 cals left to see me through the day! i didnt think ive had alot at all, ive ate - 2 weetabix and a coffee for breakfast, a cereal bar mid morning, lunch was a ham sandwich, and a small pot of grapes with water, that comes to 713 cals! i dont even have enough left for dinner tonight!

YouCanCallMeBetty · 14/01/2013 13:12

It's tough isn't it Allonsy. Only way I can do it is by getting extra cals through exercise (30-60 mins brisk walking).

I also fill up for dinner on loads of steamed/boiled carrots, kale and broccoli, which are hardly any calories, plus veg soup for lunch is really low.

I will admit thats the one thing im not doing at the moment not feeling very well and my body is craving food i keep feeling dizzy dispite just eating, will start exercising this week though if i can, dinner tonight is meant to be homemade sweet n sour chicken i think todays a write off :(

Allonsy, you must be disheartened. I think the thing is not to beat yourself up over it and accept it's a few more calories just for today. Have your s&s chicken as planned enjoy it, but perhaps try and eat some health snacks like fruit, carrot sticks or a big salad can fill you up. Not sure if you're having rice or something else with the chicken, but perhaps you could have slightly less.

Hi to all inc newbies!

Well done Betty on your mega loss!!!! Envy

Thanks for the condolances, this weekends obv been a bit rough but I think we're coming out the other side now.

I agree that the evening is my danger time (and weekends!!!). Most evenings I am out doing something which I find combats this! If I am at home I find it really really hard to resis snacking too!

Well done to everyone who has managed to get back on track after a blip. I genuinely think that's half the battle. It's really important to just move on after a blip and not let it drag you down. My weekend didn't go exactly as planned because sometimes life just gets in the way of stuff but today I have been for a decent long gym session to restore some of the damage and I'll try and reign in my calories a bit too.

Allonsy, once you get used to MFP you'll be wiser about what foods contain high cals. It's just a learning process. For example, cereal bars in particular can be a real danger area, some of them are higher in calories than a meal! I also try and stay clear of sandwiches - infact I don't really eat bread at all because it is high in both calories and carbs. Also if you have sugar in your coffee switching to sweetner can make a big difference to your daily intake.

Report
Allonsy · 14/01/2013 15:39

thanks for the replies, yeah i definately think the cereal bars are going to have to go theres 130 calories in it, i think coffee is my weak spot too i usually have about 5 a day and didnt realise it was so high in calories, i cant have sweetner im really sensitive to it so i think i will need to try and curb it all together.

sweetheart · 14/01/2013 15:53

Allonsy if you are having 5 coffee's with 1 sugar thats 250 cals in a day! What about trying a teespoon of Agarve nectar instead? It's a natural sugar extract, would that be any better? Or could you have black coffee instead of white?

Wow, I'm impressed with what you all do to lose weight. I don't own scales. I use the fit of my clothes and how I look nude in the mirror plus how I feel in order to "measure" my weight. But I am now jealous that you can all see any shifts that your work is paying off!

My plan so far is 1) to stick to my eating time preferences - normally I cave and eat late with OH but I prefer to eat right after work and then be done with food, and 2) to not take my purse to work so I can't buy things. I eat breakfast at home - a decently healthy meusli with some fruit - and take a reasonably healthy snack in to work for when I get hungry. I work from home in the afternoons so I can come home and make a nice big lun/din and be done for the day while having satisfied my craving to eat until I'm full!

I next need to work on cutting back the sofa eating, but as OH and I won't see much of each other this week it should be easier.

Unfortunately, I don't have many other things I can cut out of my diet, I just eat too much of what I enjoy!

Ooh, and I have added in a strenuous 20 minute walk each morning by cutting out the bus and walking up the effing steep hill to work!

Allonsy dropping down from 5 cups of coffee a day will be a shock to your system. Maybe wait for the weekend or a time when the withdrawal won't be so hard to manage???

Youcancallmebetty I like the notion of all the steamed veg. I bought loads of lettuce so I could have something crunchy to munch on!

Rigt, hope this thread keeps working, as I had you all in mind I managed to ward off extra food. So, um, that's day 1 done and dusted!Blush

I'm trying to do a low carb/high protein diet but also limit to 1200 calories. I find by eating more eggs, fish, meat with vegetables and no potatoes/bread/rice I am not hungry and managing to stay within the limit.
I do love pasta though but limiting to once a week and only half a portion
Works for me!
