Anyone want to loose just a few pounds, lets support eachother?

I followed the loose half a stone for Xmas thread which I found really helpful. I lost 5.5lbs and put 2.5lbs back on over Xmas. I'm quite small boned and few pounds really makes the difference, but I need encouragement to get just a little more off (4/5lbs so I hit the overall over half stone mark would be good for me) and keep it off.

Is there anyone out there who wants to loose just a few pounds up to a stone, who'd like to join me on this thread? We could record our losses or failures once a week and give general support and advice if we have any.

Sweetheart and QueenCadbury, I think it's only natural to have a sweet tooth (that's what I keep telling myself), but have come to the conclusion it's a case of limiting it. Like Sweetheart says, there are lower calorie options - my downfall is biscuits in the morning - they are now limited to two (of whatever sort) but for now I'm having nice biscuits which are 35 cals each. I had loads of alcohol and choccies presents for Xmas, so am allowing myself a small glass port/liqueur and a couple of choccies twice a week now - rather than every night and four choccies!

Morning all,
My word this week is DRAGGING!!!! I'm so fed up of dieting, I think though this is a symptom of being utterly bored at work and the week just seems like it drags on and on forever!

Queen Cad, well done on the walking! I did my first walk training last night for the moonwalk and although i consider myself to be a pretty fit person my calves are actually a bit stiff today - I guess it's just using different muscles to what I normally do!

I have definatly also noticed that my xmas bloating has mostly gone which is good.

madmog - I've found that often eating sweet things is more of a habit for me (like wanting a pudding after an evening meal) if you can break the habit that's the best thing. I do tend to keep a few things in the house that i know I can turn to if I'm really struggling though - I usually turn to an options hot choc with a bit of low fat squirty cream on the top which is really low in cals but feels quite decadent!

Weekends are my downfall, they are my rest days from exercise but also the days when I find it hardest to stick to 1200 cals, so this weekend I've told dh that we're going to take the kids swimming on Sat and while he does the football run on Sunday I'm going to take ds ice skating. hopefully that will
a) give me some more calories and
b) keep me busy so I'm not tempted to snack!

I think I need to add some exercise to get some more calories, It's hard to stick to 1400. I have that JM Shred dvd, (haven't done it for ages) but maybe it's time to dig it out.

I'm enjoying the runnning, but I have to wait for DH to come home to be with the DCs before I can go out, so it means dragging myself out into the cold dark evenings, which is hard.

I'm in too if that's ok - thanks for the introduction to mfp - it's amazing! My name is tired2013 on there too. Want to lose about 7lbs over the next few months, and cut down on the biscuit intake :)

Can I join you? This would be perfect for me.

I'm 5 ft 4 and usually about 9 stone 2. After falling awkwardly on loads of christmas chocolate for weeks on end, I now appear to be 9 stone 7. Would love to lose about 5 or 6lbs

Betty, I also had bad SPD in my 3 pregnancies and have suffered lower back trouble since. I love running but I fear my running days are over because of it. I'm enjoying using my bike more now although hate going out in the dark so can only do it at weekends. Winter is so much harder to exercise.

I had a child's dairy milk today instead of my usual adult one. 105 calories instead of 205 and actually it did give me that sugar kick I crave.

Hi tired and Shine - tired have added you on MFP.

QueenCad, SPD is a bugger isn't it, really debilitating. Worst thing is getting up after sitting cross-legged on the floor playing with the DCs - ouch.

TBH though I've never been good at exercise, and look like someone's chasing me when I run, so I think I just need to stick to brisk walking, which I have some chance of sticking to!

Just downed a Belgian Chocolate Options - OK, so it's not a Costa hot choc with cream and marshmallows, but it wasn't too bad...

i am in

am doing old fashioned calorie counting (no more than 1500 a day. would do 1200 but i honestly couldnt handle it tbh)

and am also using slim sticks, which are vile but have blunted my appetite no end

have lost about 3lbs since the day after new years day (which was when i started) and i want to lose at least another 4lbs - preferably about 8 though.

which will take me to between 7 stone 10 (if i lose another 8lbs) and 8 stone (if i lose just 4lbs) - i know this sounds really skinny but i am only 5 foot 2 so every pound shows

Hi moomie what are slim sticks if you don't mind me asking? Is it some kind of herbal appetite suppressant? Do you think they work?

I'm loving MFP! So much better than the weightwatchers app and free! I'm feeling fitter and healthier already hopefully the scales will be kind to me on Friday!

What are slim sticks? Do I need these?!

slimsticks

you take them before meals, mixed with a bit of water. they claim to work as they have some sort of very low cal fibre in them that swells up in your stomach and stops you feeling as hungry. you are meant to have 3 a day but i have been having one, and its more than enough. tbh some days i have to force myself to eat or i would forget. can't recommend them enough.

(i am moomie btw, have changed my name again )

Your name is not helping me QC

Moody - thanks for that. You recommend them then?

Report
MoodyDidIt · 10/01/2013 14:37

i deffo do shiney.

they are quite dear £25 for 30. but like i say, you probably won't need any more than one a day.

in fact, last weekend, i decided to have one day off counting calories, so didn't have one, and i swear i was still feeling the effects of it from the day before as i just wasn't very hungry.

Sod it QC. They were the kids' ones right? Could have been a lot worse (says she who once ate an entire bag of fun size Twirls in one sitting).

I was so tired today I could've mainlined Nutella. But no, I ate sodding grapes.

Hmmm, Slimsticks...

Hi all, having a good week so far so I hope it pays off. I'm tempted by the slim sticks idea, maybe we could share them Wink

Qc, don't let those choc bars make you spiral out if control, so you've had a hiccup but you can either fix it or move on from it. Any chance you can fit in some exercise to recoup some of the cals? If not just try and focus on having a better day tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is doing ok x

Just checking in - have lost 2.5 lbs since last Thursday. Still got 3lb of Christmas to lose, and then a bit more, but am feeling so much happier now I'm back on it.

The hardest thing for me has been getting back into the healthy eating groove and getting reacquainted with the sensation of hunger. Christmas is just one long meal really, I barely stopped eating.

well done billstickers!

and agree with sweet heart re the choc bars! one slip up will NOT undo everything so dont stress

also re choc, i find, the less i have, the less i want, does anyone else find that? i always used to have some kind of chocolate treat every night after dinner Blush and i haven't for days now. and last night dh had some and i didnt even want any.

Well done Bill that's brilliant! I agree that it's odd getting used to the feeling of hunger again, it was quite welcome immediatly after Chrismtas but now I wish it would bog off Wink

Feeling a tad frustrated today! I know that even on 1200 cals I will struggle to loose weight (plus I do lots of exercise!). I watch Superskinny Vs Supersize of whatever it's called on C4 on Tuesday and the "supperskinny" woman was having 1500 cals a day and they told her that was too low.

I guess I just have a rubbish metabolism or something - being large runs in my family so I guess I'm just constantly fighting against my genes! i just soooo wish that it wasn't so bloomin hard for me to shift weight Sad

The dairy milk bars were full adult size. And I finished the day off with wine and pizza and so was 500 calories over my target Blush.

Trying to be good today despite a hangover which is just wanting carbs!

Does chasing escaping DC at the seventh circle of Hell soft play count as exercise?

Please say yes because I need a two-finger KitKat (the debauchery! Hmm) but have plannned my meals for the day and am already at 1200 calories.

Never mind QC. We all have days like that but you're making up for it today.

Sweetheart, it's frustrating isn't it. I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted and wouldn't put on a pound, but these days I just need to glimpse a doughnut and I can't do my zip up.

Welcome newbies!

Betty, most definitely! Especially if you're climbing all the equipment. I come away from those places sweaty and knackered!
