Is a dress like this going to make me look huge and weird on my wedding day?

Im 5ft9 and a size 22 with big boobs. Its a summer wedding and the dress will have a blue sash around the waist.

Be brutal!

JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 01:20

The top is good, you might want to assess your calves and shoes as to the length. The skirt billows out so if you have tiny feet it might look off balance. Actually think it would be good. Have you thought about shoulders? Not a cardigan

I think I have ok legs, quite toned. Size 8 feet so not too small :o

Not sure what kind of shoe though. I will hate heels after ten mins but flats wont look right. Wedges maybe?

Thinking a bolero with 3/4 length sleeves but worried about if we have a scorcher! Would lace be better?

JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 01:26

When is the wedding? What is your skin tone

I think a fab pair of statement shoes. Not wedges, will date. An investment pair

Late July.

I am kind of pale, not really sure on skin tone, Im a bit clueless as to makeup etc. I have black hair, which I want to wear curly. But my natural colour is brown so I have time to go back to that before then if black is too harsh!

ProtegeMoi · 21/12/2012 01:39

What's the best thing to wear if you are all bottom, stupidly wide hips, saggy tummy and big arse plus no boobs so pointless trying to draw attention to the top.

Everything I wear is big and shapeless :(
I'm a 12 on top and 16 on bottom.

JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 01:45

Right. I've had a couple of glasses of sherry. BuT I might be able to assist . Firstly I think the dress is good , but can they do ivory. White is so harsh.
Secondly don't go to a mainstream bridal shop . They only cater for up to size 14/16. I spent an awful day with my best friend who was a size24 and they were MEAN, and had no dresses in her size(another story)
It's July , you don't want to sweat.
Lace is cumbersome .
Some sort of shrug will be good.

Protegemoi how old are you?

OP posts:
JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 01:47

Wannabe , I think we need to sort out your hair colour too. Regarding skin tone, are you really pale?

OP posts:
wannabedomesticgoddess · 21/12/2012 01:52

Yep, they do ivory. But dont think blue and ivory go. So shall have to find a colour to go with blue and ivory.

I am going to order direct off that website. I will get measured by a seamstress thats local and then she can alter if needs be. I dread the thought of bridal shops.

Will have to think more about a shrug!

Thank you! You really have helped loads :)

Order bigger than your size. The seamstress can always take in

At least my hangover might be worth it

JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 01:55

Anyone else?

OP posts:
wannabedomesticgoddess · 21/12/2012 01:57

I wouldnt say really pale, I used to use max factor shade 70 natural. If thats any help. I need new foundation now and Im going to get an assistant to match me properly, but that shade wasnt too bad (I hope :o )

I do need a warmer tone in my hair though. Black is a bit harsh.

cafecito · 21/12/2012 02:00

I have got quite fat and none of my trousers fit me. I literally have nothing to wear except opaque tights and stretchy dresses. how did this happen? and should I buy some bigger jeans, or lose the weight?

JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 02:00

Cafecito?

JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 02:01

Black is harsh on anyone. It's a hard colour to pull off at the best if times

OP posts:
cafecito · 21/12/2012 02:02

wannabe - I love dresses like that, especially the top part, very pretty
black is always harsh, go for a deep warm dark brown you'll look much better

(sorry not my thread, justcallmedaveshorse is on a roll!- def worth your hangover)

JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 02:04

Cafectico. Interesting........Do you really have the inspiration ?

JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 02:06

JustCallMeDavesHorse · 21/12/2012 02:13

Cafecito. I've put on weight since having kids. And I have realised that to look better, you do need to buy those bigger jeans.Grin
