Tunics are hideous Think Sara Millican Just no.

HullyEastergully · 05/12/2012 13:24

But aren't tunics just long tops? I'm with the Asian subcontinent.

noddyholder · 05/12/2012 13:26

No to sequins too Mumsy xmas wear. Lurex is where its at

HullyEastergully · 05/12/2012 13:28

LUREX??

dear lord

noddyholder · 05/12/2012 13:30

Bought a lurex little jumper and it is just not as in your face as the sequins Too glittery for me Smile but no lurex tunics that would be wrong!

Ephiny · 05/12/2012 13:33

I can't even tell if people are being serious about the sequin shorts Confused. Though they're about as likely as skinny jeans for me...

noddyholder · 05/12/2012 13:34

Some people look good in them. I like shorts a lot but not sequins They are another thing in my can't wear because Jane McDonald does!

Brycie · 05/12/2012 13:40

sequins are great, sequins on jumpers not so much, sequins on the school run always tremendous

justasecond · 05/12/2012 13:44

I love wearing jumper dresses that are just above the knee and skinnies with a nice ankle boot. However I just dont get the short mid thigh length tunics that I see on a lot of mums. They cut you off at the worst part and make legs look bigger than they are even if you are thin. Also when worn with leggings and knee boots the proportions look all wrong. I think if tunics were just a bit longer it would work better.

MakeHayInAManger · 05/12/2012 13:48

Can I wear sequin shorts over leggings?

noddyholder · 05/12/2012 13:49

I like jumper dresses too. Maybe my idea of a tunic is wrong I am thinking of something completely different

Djembe · 05/12/2012 13:55

Cashmere and sweatshirt tunics, fair isle jumper dresses, worn with opaques or knitted tights (or leather leggings DonaAna !) - fine

Patterned empire-line monstrosities with leggings - not fine

Applies to all shapes.

I love flat knee high boots though, please don't tell me they are mumsy if not worn with leggings Sad

Btw I never understand people who flounce out of S and B. Isn't the whole point of clothes to have an opinion and to try to look good, ie to make other people think you look good? Obviously there are disagreements but to take it actually personally is weird Hmm

PetFox · 05/12/2012 13:56

Jumper dresses are great with tights or skinnies. Totally different from what I think of as tunics.

PerryCombover · 05/12/2012 13:57

Stick an owl on it you lot

Djembe · 05/12/2012 13:58

The word 'tunic' does imply covering up curves, like Johnnie Boden and his unsexy clothes.

noddyholder · 05/12/2012 13:58

Isn't this a tunic

Fairylea · 05/12/2012 14:01

Tunics are cake enablers.

I'd rather have a tunic and eat a lot of cake than worry about going on a diet.

noddyholder · 05/12/2012 14:03

All the weight watchers people at the church hall near me wear them WITH leggings so there is a message there somewhere ( I am no skinny minnie either before you start)

laptopdancer · 05/12/2012 14:05

Im still waiting for the alternative to be suggested

ilovetermtime · 05/12/2012 14:05

Sequins? You're kidding right?

Never! Reminds me of old ladies.

(Not that I don't want to be reminded of old ladies, just that I don't want to look like one just yet)

Caerlaverock · 05/12/2012 14:07

You must all wear sequinned shorts and celebrate your curves

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 05/12/2012 14:07

The thing is with tunics that if you have a very long waist (like I have, I am very tall but with proportionally very short legs for my height) the tunic just swings there and doesn't look at all flattering (on ME, I couldn't give a shiny wet shite what others wear). So if I wear it I feel a bit glum because I don't feel I look at all good. And I am vain enough to care.

I agree with absy that tunics are often just dull, which has got a lot to do with the fabrics and patterns. Look at those monstrosities they sell in Fat Face for instance. You may as well get a brightly coloured top, put it in the dog basket for a few months then boil wash it several times to get the same faded and mediocre effect.

MrsJingleBells74 · 05/12/2012 14:08

I was told on here to go for tunics over leggings as opposed to baggy jumpers. So what the heck am I supposed to wear?Confused

Caerlaverock · 05/12/2012 14:08

Fat face and white stuff have a lot to answer for
