Well when I was in college, the edgy folk with their pink hair and mad clothes are now, to a man/woman, boring as fook.... coincidence?

Nowadays, the folk I know who spend most time turning themselves out are actually the folk with the least interesting personalities to me .... coincidence?

To put it another way, some of the most fascinating people I know, I couldn't tell you how they dress because I'm too busy being fascinated with them....

Yes I wear a tunic now and again, because as a size 12 female, with a great top half and a slightly less great bottom half, a certain type of long top makes my rack and waist look great and at least I get lots of admiring looks from 50% of the population

So could the fashionistas who are wittering on about how mumsy and yesterday they are, please come back and give me suggestions as to how I can make my particular figure type look better than it does in a well-fitted tunic, that doesn't involve some skimpy pair of jeans that starts an inch above my fanjo and a top that ends at my belly button??

KrisMoose · 06/12/2012 17:30

@ Hulky

Chandon · 06/12/2012 17:44

So you get admiring looks from 50% of the population whilst wearing tunics AND you know lots of fascinating people?!

You win, you are the queen of tunics.

Where do you buy your tunics?

Chandon · 06/12/2012 17:45

...and Hully is the queen of nutters Grin

garlicbaubles · 06/12/2012 18:06

I'm now wearing my bright red one. In homage to Hully.

Thought you might like to know that ... maybe not ...

Helltotheno · 06/12/2012 18:14

You win, you are the queen of tunics.

I don't know if what I wear is even tunics tbh and of course I wear other things... various different high street stores.. I don't consider myself a fashionista. Very fitted on top and thru waist, going out then but not with too much material as that makes me look bigger.

The point I'm trying to make is I feel I accentuate my good points and if that involves a tunic sometimes, so be it. Who'd want to accentuate their bad points??

And the fascinating people point I was making is that there are plenty of people I know who are really interesting with great personalities and there's nothing special about the way they dress. Somebody being a 'fashionista' doesn't necessarily mean they're super interesting or have quirky characters or great personalities.. it just means they're interested in fashion and are maybe creative.... there's a difference.

So keep wearing your tunics ladies or anything else you happen to fancy for that matter :)

HullyEastergully · 06/12/2012 18:18

garlic, I have just ordered a bright red one! I think we are like trend setters

chickydoo · 06/12/2012 18:24

I think if worn cleverly a tunic can look amazing over jeans, yoga trousers, leggings or linen trousers in summer.
I am not fat or mumsy. I am 5'7 and a size 8. I wear lots of layers, and reckon I look fine in my tunics/mini dresses/long jumpers
I have the 3 below

Caerlaverock · 06/12/2012 18:50

Those hush numbers are dresses, the white company thing is a beige blanket

HullyEastergully · 06/12/2012 18:51

I think they are all really nice

Helltotheno · 06/12/2012 18:56

I think the first two are lovely :)
There's a risk the last would make me look big... only for the really slim that one!

Caerlaverock · 06/12/2012 18:57

They are dresses

Northernlurker · 06/12/2012 19:13

dress
dress
not sure what the jeff that is

garlicbaubles · 06/12/2012 20:08

Come on, those Hush dresses are tunics. They even advise wearing them over leggings & t-shirts!

I'm 173cm: 5'8". I have garments marketed as tunics and as dresses - all the same length (86 - 89 cm.) They're dangerously short to wear without summat sturdy on the bottom half. You really wouldn't like catching flashes of my upper thighs & knickers, even in modest boyshorts.

Those Hush ones are beautiful. They don't even come in a big enough size for me :( I like the beige tabard thing, too - it's fun, and will move really well.

Hully, we have great taste Xmas Wink

chickydoo · 06/12/2012 21:34

My DH thought the white company one looked a bit like a blanket too! that was before I tried it on though. Had lots of compliments with all 3. worn them tons of times already. will need to to get cost per wear down.

Absy · 07/12/2012 08:10
