Marsha, the video on the Aesop site is pretty weird isn't it. Interesting side to retail (the whole new concept thing) that I've not really thought of before. Of to look at the Burberry article now Amber. Shopafrolic, Argos you say Smile?

pickledsiblings · 29/10/2012 21:49

Off even

shopafrolic · 29/10/2012 21:51

Screams "it's not the brand or the style it's the floor space to sales ratio......"

Great dress Marsha btw, v. understated. What length is it on you? Check out NAP etc for leg styling.

MarshaBrady · 29/10/2012 22:00

I didn't watch it Pickled! Will take a look.

Hopefully love your shopping! The Chan Luu is such a gorgeous colour, I love all of it.

MarshaBrady · 29/10/2012 22:02

lol Shop exactly. Grin Hmm I'm going to rack my brains for a good ratio now.

Pickled it's not short. I had to overcome wanting that for this one. I'll just wear very high heels. Well I do anyway.

LeChatRouge · 29/10/2012 22:54

Marsha the pIe and mash by day and restaurant by night is here.

MarshaBrady · 30/10/2012 08:50

Ah good one lechat thanks!

mignonette · 30/10/2012 09:21

Wahaca are putting on a Day of the Dead festival underneath Waterloo station at the Old Vic Tunnels from Wednesday. Details from blog.wahaca.co.uk/.

This looks so much fun. Have fond memories of DOTD from my childhood years spent living in Mexico.

Hopefully · 30/10/2012 11:34

All this talk of cool things to visit in London is so over my head at the moment - I have become properly countrified! That's what Devon does to you. Looking forward to having a day in London in Dec, and hopefully another trip up to see the costume exhibition at the V&A before it closes.

I have re-ordered a pair of leather leggings from Matches that I sent back a month or two ago - I have a discount code, and I am resigned to having raw hems and needing to get them finished at the right length, which was the main reason I sent these ones back (right at the beginning of The Leather Leggings Quest).

MarshaBrady · 30/10/2012 13:53

Good work Hopefully, I think it has to be done for leather leggings. You need the very best ones. A friend just moved to Devon, near Totnes. She loves it.

Mignonette when did you leave Mexico? I also have a new friend from Mexico City who does interesting work.

mignonette · 30/10/2012 15:10

Marsha I left Mexico aged 8 1/2 but still go back to visit occasionally as have friends and honorary 'family' there. I visited Mexico City many times alongside Acapulco (saw Elizabeth Taylor on the beach there), Mazatlan, Guadalajara etc. I'll never forget the glass blowers of Guadalajara. If there's an opportunity to visit your friend, take it. Mexico is such a dazzling country, vivid, rich and not what people expect from how it is depicted. Saying that, I have visited the corrupt NW border regions in the Sierra De Madre range and it is not a place for women, for sure. I lived in the NE mountains near Saltillo.

Hopefully I went on a geography field trip in the early 80's to Slapton, near Totnes in deepest coldest February. Waist deep in the river Dart measuring water velocity, I and three others got taken to hospital with Hypothermia. Otherwise it was lovely!

mignonette · 30/10/2012 15:11

By 'rich' I mean richly textured....

Hopefully · 30/10/2012 15:30

Marsha I am Grin at . Well done on Outnet order - I never have the patience to trawl through.

I really like living down here so far. Hope I feel the same after winter! Sussex is warm.

mignonette · 30/10/2012 15:52

What do MNers think of the Outnet's new collection of clothing?

mignonette · 30/10/2012 15:54

I was looking at the collaboration between Harris Tweed and NEXT. What do you all think of this hold all as a Christmas gift for my StepSon?

MarshaBrady · 30/10/2012 17:12

Mignonette the friend lives a bit closer now - in SW London! But I was impressed by her childhood there. Yes like the bag.

Hehe Hopefully, I know sometimes it's too easy to have a connection to things. Siberia, Houston, NASA blah blah. A big family has it's uses when doing small talk.

Outnet yes, it was three things that could be good but may not be. T Wang cardigan and dress, APC boots. Just lazily bought it all, but probably won't keep it all. Plus the boots were the only ones in my size which motivated me a bit more.

mignonette · 30/10/2012 17:14

i still mourn the APC indigo denim kilt that I gave to stepD. She never wore it and gave it to a charity shop. She didn't understand that it was a keeper.....

DonaAna · 30/10/2012 19:58

I really like Mexico, although the way things are in the country atm (drug wars etc) are quite worrying.

Sorry have to skip links - busy packing and printing work materials.
Had to pop out because ran out of white printing paper - there is an appliance/electronics store nearby, nipped there 15 min before closing time. My hair was unwashed and I wore Uggs and a down jacket - not the most pulled together look Grin. There were two doormen who looked at me a bit dubiously but opened the door. The place was awash in neon floodlights, ambient music, waiters with cocktail trays, and packed with 20sth techie types downing cocktails. I got a glass of prosecco AND the copying paper I was after. Weirdest cocktail party I've been to...

Spent some time putting together my travel clothes. Challenging, as I'm going to a snowy, wet, possibly icy place (hence very few footwear choices): have to look presentable, but don't want to catch pneumonia.) Everything I tried on looked so dull. Most of my Italian clothes seemed way cold/flimsy/impractical/unlikely to fit under heavy coats... Finally settled on 7FAM Ginger flares, wedges or ankle boots, a V-necked bodycon tight-fitting sweter and a Missoni scarf.

Ladies, is it true - are winter clothes deeply boring? Please prove me wrong.

Hopefully · 30/10/2012 20:02

Dona surely you have some beautiful lined boots kicking around somewhere? And a wonderful overcoat? You must.

I have been vaguely lusting after these for about two months now. I really don't need them in any way, but I want them.

Hopefully · 30/10/2012 20:03

ps: Dona I wasn't suggesting you'd want shiny gold skinnies for cold-weather wear. Those are for me, not you Grin

Topazandpearl · 31/10/2012 09:36

Those skinnies are great Hopefully. Sometimes I find I go off things if I lust after them enough. Pinterest helps with that, I sort of feel I have appropriated something, just by pinning it, then the novelty wears off. (There was something about this early on in YAWYW). On the other hand, sometimes the obsession just grows and I have to buy it!
I have finally got round to buying these boots as the weather means I need boots and these were the nicest, most comfortable and within budget I could find.
Dona i prefer winter to summer clothes! Not being of an ideal shape, I prefer the coverage and the opportunities for layering. I also find the heavier fabrics and structure helpful. The colours are more me too. I guess it suits me to live somewhere with such miserable summers! I'm sure you will have the perfect wardrobe for your travels.

mignonette · 31/10/2012 09:59

I'm a cold weather woman. Ironic considering I spent so much time in the hotter parts of the world. I love bundling up.

I have a pair of Wrangler ankle boots the same as these on ebay. They're about seven years old and are my second pair. I love them.

here

mignonette · 31/10/2012 12:15

Look at this bag of gorgeousness from Swedish HasBeens. Am trying to decide which of the three colours to choose.....

www.swedishhasbeens.com/bird-watchers-bag-p-117.html.

I also love the new olive suede ankle boots from GAP but cannot find a link to show you all.

MarshaBrady · 01/11/2012 14:01

I like the dark blue best I think Mignonette

The outnet order has arrived.

APC boots are a great mustard colour, brighter than the pic. But they are rather too similar to the pistols I have already (so should go back really).

Wang black cardigan is loose even as an xs. But I love it, have it on and is warm so am keeping.

Dress is going back, link-less Grin

Hopefully has your dhl man/woman turned up?
