Pop was wondering how it was going! Great to hear an update.

Great news on the red soles Grin.

I know Fritzi that would have been very funny.

Gorgeous purchases Amber. I have not been on here for a while, glad to here your job is going well pop, I decided to take the new job as well but currently working out my notice period at the old one. Your outfit sounds nice.

This is my new purchase would recommend - apparently they are doing basics for the outnet so I read in one of the many magazines scattered around Cowley Manor Grin. Also bought this which works with jeans and workwear.

Marsha I am in need of a Christmas party dress now...did you find one? any suggestions?

Amber amazing buys!
Mig the bag is very pretty.
Bonsoir good luck with the dinner party!
Breton and Fritzi, quite a coincidence!

Sorry about lack of contributions to fashion talk. Am snowed under with work, plus social life good atm - have been to a cocktail party this week (dressed in black leather pencil skirt, black boucle jacket, black heels and pearls - color is simply not done here atm), boozy sushi dinner last night, and some friends will be coming to visit us over the weekend. Next week, flying back home for a week of work and socializing (sans DC). Snow in the forecast, quite a change from the 20C + daytime temperatures here.

I need to report on my only fashion-related venture - my Celtic houseboots survived the washing machine. Drying them took almost a week in a shady spot on our sunny terrace, an they shrank a bit, but the risky procedure was worthwhile: they lambswool is bouncy and soft again and they look like new now. Impressive, considering that I think I had stained them with tea and olive oil (and had treated the stains with dishwashing liquid).

Wearing a tunic & skinnies Wink

Thank you Smile

All just about under control - just popping out to take DD to her music theory class and will pop to buy olives/bread/extra wine in between dropping and fetching. Table looks great Smile

Excellent Bonsoir

Breton congratulations on the job! Really good stuff.

I am looking today for a dress and trying to decide between understated elegant Lanvin or Lanvin sequins. Am torn. Back later!

Well, the Watanabe perhaps isn't so much of a bargain but it will last and never date.

Amber- I have worn Pigalle Louboutins for a few years now and defiantly wore them to my Father's funeral two months ago. I had to read the eulogy and I felt so much better clattering along the aisle in my courage shoes. He'd have approved. I took two pairs of shoes, the Pigalles and a black Heeled Marni pair with crochet applique- the latter being my safe option. However the heel started to go on the Marni's (furious-they've hardly been worn), my DH tried to emergency superglue them and the glue oozed out along the heel. Have had to have them overdyed at the cobblers to cover it.

Good job I was so sedated with grief and fear over the eulogy as otherwise I'd have thrown them at his head. Men, honestly......

Again in tunic, skinnies and sheepskin boots

I hardly get out of the house during the day (have even delegated the school runs), so what's the point? Part of the equation is that it's a strange time weatherwise - 10C in the morning and 20C+ during the day, so the big wardrobe change is kicking out the boots at some point and putting on flip-flops or ballerinas. And then changing to jogging wear if I get a chance to go out. I promise to be more stylish when I retrieve my winter clothes Wink

I love the Hervia links Mig!

DD1's midterm holidays start on Monday. School's always out during the busiest times of the year...

Links please Marsha!

Morning! Haven't been on for a few days - am stuck in a nanny dilemma (she wants to leave her other job, I am trying to afford her for more hours as she is wonderful. Probably doable as we will get her entire personal allowance so pay less tax on a chunk of her pay, but the maths is driving me spare).

Also Envy at your dress dilemma Marsha. Have you decided?

Am in knitwear crisis, not sure what I need, but definitely need some.

Did one final check with dh this morning. Went for the understated and elegant Lanvin rather than sequins.

Very happy with it! Can't find the link, will take a shot later on and put on profile.

I really, really need knitwear too Hopefully.

Now I can relax about the parties coming up, ie what to wear to all of them (different crowds at each tg!), am going to start looking for something too.

It all went well - but I am shattered! I think I'm just too old to be a mid-week late-night hostess! I have spent all day at home mooching around, vaguely rearranging my candle cupboard and putting my china and silver away...

Report
MarshaBrady · 26/10/2012 14:30

It is tough mid-week! I had both lunch and dinner in restaurants yesterday. Which was crazy of course. The first lasted so long it practically merged into the second.

Great that it was a success. I'm mooching around too.

On the upside, the apartment is super tidy and super clean after mammoth efforts these last few days, with flowers, candles etc, and it's Autumn half-term tonight, so will be able to relax in peace. DD and I are on our own next week (DP is going to NY and the boys are with their mother) and I am looking forward to a girly time with our girlfriends!
