No 7 counter "scanned" my face for foundation match!

Apparently the technology isn't going to be available at other make-up counters for a year! I'm a "cool ivory"! :)
Any one else tried it? I have to say I was really, really impressed with the match. Ended up with a mouse foundation which looks so natural while providing good coverage! PLUS it's half the price of the Laura Mercier I was using....

GetOrf did you try the Healthy Mix serum or foundation? It's the texture of the serum that intrigues me, and the idea that it's actually doing my skin good.

Update on the Radiance one, day 2 of tester pot: looked too dark today, and too pink. Ended up taking it off before going out and slapping on my usual Clarins True Radiance instead (which I recommend as a better version of same thing). I think I usually wear foundation a shade too light, but that's what I likes

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 19:26

I said that upthread bonny - normally the shade isn't the real holy grail, it's the texture.

The one I bought (on a schtupid whim) turns out to have an OK texture (nowt special) and the colour is too bloody dark and too bloody orange.

God knows what is with the lighting in Boots.

Anyway I am taking it back to get a refund tomorrow (hope they will let me).

HoopDePoop · 06/09/2012 19:27

And the No7 Radiance made my skin look greasy. That's my main prob with it. Felt cloggy.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 19:27

Hoop it is the serum + I tried.

If you like the idea of a serum foundation try that Max Factor one I linked to upthread.

HoopDePoop · 06/09/2012 19:29

I don't usually like MaxFactor, but I see you don't either. Will test it out in Boots - that on one cheek and Bourjois on t'other.

MarysBeard · 06/09/2012 19:32

What is foundation meant to do? I just wear concealer & powder as a base.

peggyblackett · 06/09/2012 19:36

I'm a warm ivory. So far I've tested the Essentially Natural (?) foundation, which I really liked --
especially compared to the Channel Vitalumiere crap normally worshipped on here--. Will try the P&P version tomorrow and report back.

BonnyDay · 06/09/2012 19:37

i dont buy ANY boots no 7 stuff. I jave an irrational hatred of the brand. its so mumsy

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 19:57

No, I hate everything else I have ever tried from Max Factor, but this is genuinely good. Ask the woman if she will give you a tester to take home.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 20:03

You're right. No 7 is bollocks. It is the Per Una of the make up world.

SugarBatty · 06/09/2012 20:12

Sorry joining late and not time to read through all pages on my phone, can you get this scan and get ANY no7 foundation? If so which is the highest coverage? I normally use double wear but want a cheaper daytime one for work? Never bought no7 before.

Also I normally wear fake tan so should I get scanned with fake tan on or not?

Or should I fuck off and read this thread fully to find answers to my questions?!

pinkyp · 06/09/2012 20:14

I'm deeply ivory Wink

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 20:14

Grin sugar

I think you can have any No 7 foundation - there are some which are heavy coverage like the double wear.

TBH though the No 7 foundations are quite expensive for what they are, you may as well spend an extra fiver or so and get the DW if you really like that.

If you usually wear fake tan I would go in with your tan on.

BUT don't buy it straight off, take a tester home and see what it looks like in daylight.

SugarBatty · 06/09/2012 20:28

I'm confusing no7 for no17 aren't I?! I thought it all sounded a bit high tech for such a cheap brand!

Thanks Mrs Bolt! Think I'll mix my double wear with tinted moisturiser instead.

BonnyDay · 06/09/2012 21:42

Is double wear good? How dies it compare the vitalumiere? Have good but dry skin

HoopDePoop · 06/09/2012 22:50

V different to vitalumiere - v full coverage with doublewear. Too matt and masklike for me but lots swear by it.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 07/09/2012 08:52

*Per una of the makeup world"....great description.

I have got no 7 mascara, but only because of the never ending £5 vouchers you get in Boots. It's actually very good.

But the nail varnish brushes are horrible...really thick and bushy.

eastnorth · 07/09/2012 09:08

So impressed with this. The best foundation I have ever had.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 07/09/2012 09:22

Doublewear nothing like Vitalumiere - not that I have ever worn vitalum (the colours are too yellow) but from what I have seen the finish is light refecting. DW is very, very heavy and matt, it didn't suit me at all, and has a texture of PVA glue. But loads of people love it - I think it depends on your skin type.

brighthair · 07/09/2012 16:10

I went today. Two assistants, one doing paperwork, one with someone. I hung about to have a look at the foundation, mascara etc. 10 minutes I was there and not one said hello or looked up from paperwork so I walked off Angry

Whitershadeofpale · 07/09/2012 16:50

I really like the boujois healthy mix but hear good things about the healthy mix serum. What is the difference???

MammyToMany · 07/09/2012 19:22

After reading this thread I went and had mine done - I am calico. She applied some and the colour looked ok but she said I had very dry skin and recommended I moisturise.

There was a queue to see her, but there was also a bloke doing the same but none of the women would see him!

Also ahead of me was an elderly lady who had gorgeous skin, she was at least twice my age and had lovely peachy soft skin - I felt like telling her not to bother with foundation as she looked great. She bought some foundation but I felt she was a little pressured.

Make up lady didn't give out samples!

HoopDePoop · 07/09/2012 20:28

I slapped on a load of Healthy Mix serum in Tesco today, it looks fab, I love it. Exactly what I was after - a mattish finish that doesn't leave me looking greasy and shiny and in need of powder, but all light-reflecty too. Perfect. And it smells yum, of fruit.

I went for 'vanilla' which seems perfect - was a 'cool vanilla' according to No7 but the samples they gave me were def too dark.

Question for foundation buffs: does the wee number correspond to anything? It says '52' which I think is the shade no for my Clarins one - is there a standard system thus rendering the swizzy gadgetry pointless ??

SoleSource · 10/09/2012 18:46

I had my test today at N07 and cool beige. I like it and I got the mousse. Love it!

Estee Lauder is binned,!

Thumbelina46 · 11/09/2012 00:47
