No 7 counter "scanned" my face for foundation match!

Apparently the technology isn't going to be available at other make-up counters for a year! I'm a "cool ivory"! :)
Any one else tried it? I have to say I was really, really impressed with the match. Ended up with a mouse foundation which looks so natural while providing good coverage! PLUS it's half the price of the Laura Mercier I was using....

I haven't worn foundation since I stopped work 2 years ago but surely if you do regularly use the stuff it might be worth finding out what colour actually does suit your skin and then you can see whether your normal foundation is anywhere near it or if you have been unsuspecting orange for years.

CharlieCoCo · 02/09/2012 21:09

Statistically challenged. Thanks-learn something new everyday. Grin

ggirl I wonder if you went to the same boots as me. I was scanned by an orange person who calculated me as calico, it inspired me to not buy the foundation but to come home and put some fake tan on. The first one (I think it was heavy duty) flaked off my skin and was awful and my skin isn't dry. The second foundation didn't flake but looked dull. I'm sticking to mac.

Housewifefromheaven · 02/09/2012 21:29

Stupid question alert!! So, I've got a tan at the mo. will it match to my tan or, err, not? Do not laugh at me!

HoopDePoop · 02/09/2012 21:48

I'll give it a go, but not buy their foundation I don't think, just use it to see as another poster said, to check my usual foundation isn't ghostly or orange.

Although am I the only one who doesn't always want an exact match, sometimes I want to be pale and interesting for eg?

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/09/2012 21:54

housewife it will match to your tan, orange lady suggested I tan up and go back to have foundation matched then. It takes a photo of your skin so whatever colour it is at the time will determine which foundation is matched to you.

lolalotta · 03/09/2012 06:03

Get it might be worth picking up a sample, they have revamped all there formulations. The mousse I bought is so much better than my £25.00 Laura Mercier foundation I have been using for years. The colour is spot on and the foundation looks barely there while giving great coverage. Looks really natural if you don't like the caked-on look! Smile
The mousse is a matte finish do no powder required...

Thanks strawberry I'll wait till I'm pale again then Smile

HoopDePoop · 03/09/2012 11:29

Lola do you work for Boots?

alwaysrunninginheels · 03/09/2012 13:43

I went this am and was impressed as I went away with lots of samples in different textures- 2 shades to compare and no pressure at all to buy. Samples are a decent size too. Impressed!

CuriousMama · 03/09/2012 13:47

How much is it for the foundtation?

CuriousMama · 03/09/2012 13:47

foundation

Whitamakafullo · 03/09/2012 13:50

I got this done! I had make up on but the girl at the counter wiped it off for me. Turns out I'm Soft Rose, which to me looked really pinky and would never be a colour I would choose for myself as I've always considered myself more an ivory type person, but it completely blends in! I'm very impressed with it Smile

Although slightly concerned I have a face which is this colour ---> Angry

Whitmakafullo how much is it to buy?

Whitamakafullo · 03/09/2012 13:57

It was the Stay Perfect foundation I got, which cost about £14. Gives really nice coverage.

CuriousMama · 03/09/2012 17:06

Thank you. Not a bad price at all.

colditz · 03/09/2012 17:15

I'm calico. its absolutely perfect. I was shocked.

lolalotta · 03/09/2012 18:00

HoopDePoop no I don't work for Boots! Honestly! I can see why you might think I do though! Grin
Foundation shopping always fills me with dread so when I was so impressed with this new technology I just wanted to share...I'm sure I'm not to only one who hates choosing a new foundation!

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/09/2012 18:11

Do they do a colour called "salami"? I think that would be my colour. Grin

CalamityKate · 03/09/2012 18:22

I went to a different local boots today and asked for samples of the Protect and Perfect and the Beautifully Matte formulations. The girl was very happy to provide generous samples of both.

Also she was very helpful regarding powder and when I tried to buy one, suggested I wait to see which foundation I preferred so I could take advantage of the 3 for 2 offer!

Very impressed.

SoleSource · 03/09/2012 18:27

I went to Bootds on Vfriday to buy new pot of foundation. I asked the assistant to match me pot to skin. Assistant went to lunch, so couldn't get it done. No idea about the machine until advert came on later that evening. There were machines in there as advrrts were.there. I was more concerned that my usual intelligent mousse had been discontinued. AGAIN.. GRRR

TellyBug · 03/09/2012 22:32

I did it today and got calico - the palest/fairest one they do! I haven't used it on the whole of my face yet... I hope it looks ok!!

Calamansi · 03/09/2012 22:37

Liking the sound of this! Off to the boots website to see if it's close to me...

GreenEyesAndHam · 04/09/2012 12:11

I had this done this morning and have to say I'm impressed.

The scanner matched me as cool ivory and the lady used a tiny amount, straight from the bottle (no blending) and the colour is spot on and looks lovely. I bought it (Instant Radiance) so time will tell if I like using it at home.

More impressive though were the results on the two ladies before me- both were older than me, maybe early fifties and one had a lot of patchy redness. Both had a fantastic result with the foundation she chose, one lady was close to tears!

runmumrun · 04/09/2012 13:30

I succumbed to the hype and popped into boots. 10 minutes later I was out having been told i am 'honey', seemed quite dark to me but, armed with sample, i duly slathered the stuff on when I got home. Did a half-face, and I have to say - much as I dislike foundation - the colour match was accurate. Even in bright sunshine and using my x5 magnifying mirror. Yes, honestly.

Not sure I'll buy it, I rarely wear foundation as it seems to highlight rather than minimise my myriad faults, but I am impressed at the colour accuracy.
