No 7 counter "scanned" my face for foundation match!

Apparently the technology isn't going to be available at other make-up counters for a year! I'm a "cool ivory"! :)
Any one else tried it? I have to say I was really, really impressed with the match. Ended up with a mouse foundation which looks so natural while providing good coverage! PLUS it's half the price of the Laura Mercier I was using....

That's an idea maybe I should have blamed the mouse thing on autocorrect... Wink

I went and had it done this morning and its fabulous. The colour it picked (deeply beige) looked way too dark for me and I would never have picked it up in a million years if I had been buying it off the shelf, but it really did match brilliantly Smile

No more walking round with mismatching face for me, no siree Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2012 13:23

I had this done this morning - unfortunately once the assistant put some foundation on me it was obviously a little too dark so I had to go a shade lighter. However I am VERY pale so even remotely too dark foundation looks awful on me.

Happykitten · 02/09/2012 14:18

I tried this on Friday. I usually use clinique as no 7 and other shades are never light enough. My colour match came out as calico and it's perfect. Bought 2 bottles of foundation and powder for price of one clinique so I'm very happy. Have to say they've definitely improved texture and colours. Would highly recommend having a go!

BonnyDay · 02/09/2012 14:19

do you all really find it hard to match the colour? i dont. For me its the nature of the foundation itself

noddyholder · 02/09/2012 14:20

I am determined not to be seduced by this...........

agedknees · 02/09/2012 15:16

Please, please go for this. I went on Friday, the assistant just wiped some of my foundation off both sides of my face and used the machine. Takes 2 minutes.

She then said I was warm Ivory. I usually use Clinique, but am really impressed with this foundation. They have a 3 for 2 offer at the moment at Boots so I am well happy with my new foundation, mascara and blusher.

I have the lift and luminate foundation.

Sales assistant then patched me up with the foundation.

Was really impressed with the product and the service. (Am not a Boots employee, honest).

This was the Manchester Fort Boots.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 02/09/2012 15:22

I very rarely wear make up, but I'm dying to give this a try. How much is the foundation?

DollyTwat · 02/09/2012 15:25

This is another thing I'm going to have to try isn't it!

agedknees · 02/09/2012 15:31

Foundation was £16.50 for the Lift and Luminate (am the wrong side of 50), but I am really impressed with the coverage.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 02/09/2012 15:31

Thanks aged. Smile

CuriousMama · 02/09/2012 15:33

oh wow I'm up for that. There's a few large Boots near to me.

CalamityKate · 02/09/2012 15:33

I got matched to cool ivory too!

It's funny because I always thought the foundation I've used for years (EL Double Wear in "Shell") was a good match but it turns out its far too light!

Cool Ivory is a fabulous match. However I'll be trying a heavier coverage as I'm not keen on the finish/texture of the Stay Perfect.

Highly recommend the service though, I'd NEVER have tried that colour!

delilahbelle · 02/09/2012 15:41

I am cool vanilla. Very impressed with the colour match - it's so much better than my previous foundations which I would then buy and not wear as they always looked wrong. Only £14 for the Stay Perfect which I quite like.

ggirl · 02/09/2012 16:33

got scanned by dayglo orange sales assistant who obviously doesn't practice what she preaches
i surprisingly came up as calico (lightest there is)

I was surprised ,also recommended cool ivory for a warmer shade and gave me a large sample of foundation.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 02/09/2012 16:37

I needed a new foundation (I always use No 7 anyway) and so went along. I came up a warm ivory and it really is a perfect match. I am thrilled with the result. The lady gave me a wipe to remove all my foundation which I did and she redid me in my new colour!

cheesesarnie · 02/09/2012 16:41

ooh i want to do this!

CalamityKate · 02/09/2012 17:56

Those of you who have been matched to Cool Ivory - what shade powder do you use?

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2012 19:25

I was matched to cool ivory, but actually ended up with a cool vanilla foundation - I have a sneaking suspicion I was slightly between shades and the machine went for the darker one. The assistant was lovely though, as pale as me so wasn't trying to make me darker than I am!

I wear the L'oreal perfect match powder in Rose Ivory - it's lovely if you don't have any sort of yellow undertone to your skin as I find most powders too yellow.

CuriousMama · 02/09/2012 19:32

The one in our town centre does it Smile How much does the foundation cost?

CharlieCoCo · 02/09/2012 20:48

How do you find out which stores do it as i couldnt find out on its site. do you just have to go to your nearest one and ask inside?

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 02/09/2012 20:55

Is this really any good? I always think most of No7 stuff is bollocks and I think you have to invest a fair bit in foundation.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 02/09/2012 20:55

I am determined not to get stuck in after the Bare Escentuals debacle.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2012 20:58

Charlie if you use their store locator on the website there is an in store services bit which you can expand . It has a tick box in the list for the "n07 foundation match made service"

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 02/09/2012 21:00

Even if you have the correct colour, if the texture is off or doesn't match your skin the foundation is still crap.

I tried Prescriptives once and although the colour was flawless the foundation was still crap because it had a horrible texture and just 'sat' there on my skin.
