No 7 counter "scanned" my face for foundation match!

lolalotta · 01/09/2012 06:27

Apparently the technology isn't going to be available at other make-up counters for a year! I'm a "cool ivory"! :)
Any one else tried it? I have to say I was really, really impressed with the match. Ended up with a mouse foundation which looks so natural while providing good coverage! PLUS it's half the price of the Laura Mercier I was using....

I might go and try this then.

GreenEyesAndHam · 04/09/2012 13:43

agree with that runmum, Cool Ivory doesn't sound very dark Grin but before the scan I would've thought it too dark for me.

Being a celtic skinned whitey, I tend to automatically go for the lightest shade in the range, and if it doesn't look pale enough I just don't buy.

hippermiddleton · 04/09/2012 14:30

I think our local Boots must have calibrated their machines weirdly, or the lighting's affecting it. Lady who scanned me was a disturbing shade of Oompah Loompah herself, with very visible pores. Then she scanned me, and bearing in mind I'm a red-haired Celt who wears Extra Light in Bobbi Brown BB Cream, Fairly Light in BE, Porcelain in Laura Mercier, etc, etc, I was surprised to be diagnosed as... Soft Rose. She claimed it was right because it 'cancelled out the redness in my cheeks' but only by making my whole face about four shades darker.

So now I look like my face has been on holiday for a fortnight while the rest of my body's stayed at home.

Hmm. I might go to a different branch for a second opinion.

ginmakesitallok · 04/09/2012 14:51

I've been done too -cool beige apparently, which is much darker than I'd have thought. I got a sample to try at home, so will report back later!

I am now feeling like I had a lucky escape running out of time at Stratford Westfield Boots yesterday before the paralympics rather than annoyed that I missed a chance!

TellyBug · 04/09/2012 17:13

Well, day one update. The colour seems far too pale for me. And and it's slipped off/disappeared. Disappinted!

HoopDePoop · 04/09/2012 17:27

Done! Was surprised to find it in the little shithole sprawling metropolis in which I live.

V quick and easy, just like an ultrasound scanner thing she held to each side of my face for a couple of seconds. She decanted a bit of the two foundations I liked the look of into little pots to try at home.

I came out as 'cool vanilla' which is apparently available in all the No 7 foundations - not all colours come in all foundations.

Got Protect and Perfect, and the Radiance one. Will test and report back [salute]

Bienchen · 04/09/2012 20:17

Very happy with my result, soft rose and went for the Stay Perfect liquid foundation which is a success. I am actually ditching the Lancome Teint Miracle which I bought at the start of the summer. If anybody is interested, it is shade 02/Lys Rose. Pump dispenser, so hygienic to pass on.

CMOTDibbler · 04/09/2012 20:28

Worked well for me too - I am usually v pale, but have a bit of colour currently and it matched me as cool beige which I was suprised at, but it is a perfect match (I removed a patch at home to check)

ggirl · 05/09/2012 17:35

I am amazed at the No7 bb cream for oily skin , stays put on my oil slick and looks so natural .

micku5 · 05/09/2012 19:31

I was matched to deeply honey and have got a sample to test, however my problem is now trying to find a concealer that matches as the MAC one is too light

ClaraDeLaNoche · 06/09/2012 11:09

Not for me. Just been zapped, I was a Cool Ivory. In fairness, the colour is spot on but even with the lightest version it looks a bit cakey and seems to enhance and luminate my pores which is not what I wanted. So didn't buy. I was thinking Wow, how high tech, and then I realised that B&Q do this with paint so not that fancy really. (Obvs if I was getting my skin matched in B&Q I would be F&B Elephant Breath).

Not a wasted trip though as have bought the older ladies' setting lotion as per other thread.

Really want to try this new Armani Fusion Foundation but only available in Selfridges. Anyone tried it?

HoopDePoop · 06/09/2012 11:23

Instant Radiance review - meh. It's ok, not much coverage, perfect colour but I'm used to wearing a lighter colour which I prefer Confused it did even up my skintone and look v natural but my skin is pretty good atm and I think it didn't give me the 'my skin but better' I was hoping for.

Will try out the Protect and Perfect next.

I want to try the Bourjois Healthy Mix serum really - rave reviews, light coverage and good for skin. And cheaper than any of the No7 ones (unless they hurry up with their £5 vouchers are you reading this Boots )

HoopDePoop · 06/09/2012 11:24

Lol at B and Q Grin

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 17:16

Bloody sodding HELL.

I was matched as pale vanilla (or something) and she put it on me in the shop - under the 8 million watt lights it looked OK, and I bought it.

Just got home and looked in the mirror and I look like I have bronzer all over my face - about 3 shades too dark. i have just walked home through the city centre looking like a twat.

Do you reckon I can take it back - it is completely the wrong colour in daylght. I should have gone outside to check.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 17:17

Hoop the healthy mix from Bourjois is very good - I recommend it.

Bucharest · 06/09/2012 17:34

I am going to be zapped tomorrow, but am now scared will come out tango'd as well. Been into little provincial Boots today to try formulations on hand in readiness. Stay Perfect prob felt nicest. I had a bottle of a radiance one last year while waiting to buy some posh stuff and it was crapola.

I wasn't very impressed with the Bourjois health jobby- felt slimey and gloopy.

I had a dobble of L'oreal Lumi-Magique while in Boots, that felt very nice.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 06/09/2012 17:38

I tell you what is good - this from Max Factor www.maxfactor.co.uk/uk/products/Face/Foundations/helix/detail.aspx

I have a bottle of it kicking round , and despite my usually disliking Max Factor stuff, this is really good.

I have got loads of foundation - the one which really suits me is brilliant but very expensive so save it for special occasions, and I am always on the hunt for a cheap every day one.

I am taking that No7 shite back tomorrow and getting the Max Facrtor.

It's Eclat Opulent by By Terry. I really recommend it but it costs the best part of a hundred quid.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 06/09/2012 18:11

I popped into Boots today to see about 25 women waiting.
Coldn't be arsed.
Went to Bentalls and bought my usual Lancome Teint Miracle as usual.

TellyBug · 06/09/2012 19:19

Give it up ladies. It doesn't work. I have been done three times now. First, calico, which I bought and then it looked shit at home. Second, it said one of those rose ones- the make up guy ignored that and gave me deeply beige. I bought that but under normal light and at home I look tango. I then found out I could have had samples. So I went back today and they said another rose which the assistant ignored and she recommended cool ivory. So I have come away with rose and ivory samples.

Skip the machine and get testing!

BonnyDay · 06/09/2012 19:20

i really find it amazing that you all think its the shade that is the issue.

normally on here it always the texture coverage and finish
