Inner thigh chaffing, find me an answer

zanz1bar · 25/05/2012 19:32

i look better in summer dresses, but suffer from the dreaded red sore inner thigh.
I have tried lanacane, hair spray, baby powder all work for an hour or so but need reapplying.
I have bought spans like pants with long legs and that works like a dream, but I really don't need the tight bandaging around the waist.
So I am looking for some sort of very light long leg pants, something like control top tights with a bit of thigh cover so I can washy down the street and not walk like John Wayne.
Any ideas?

I use the cut-off tights method. It has worked well over the years some tights more grippy than others - bad ones can ride up and make chafing worse! Also sometimes make a whisering sound when walking which can be a bit annoying...

my body glide arrived this morning! super quick delivery and a free mini bag of haribo too. Grin Now THAT is fab customer service. Obviously I will give the sweets to DD.

janmoomoo · 30/05/2012 19:03

Rushed home to post! I tried the deodorant thing today and it worked a treat! So happy, thanks MN.

mirry2 · 30/05/2012 19:14

jamarro which one did you use?

janmoomoo · 30/05/2012 19:22

Just used my normal Sure spray. Sprayed quite liberally and left to dry. Suspect a roll on would be even better, but the spray def did the job.

mirry2 · 30/05/2012 19:39

Did you do a lot of walking jamaroo? I'm wondering how it would stand up to a lot of leg movement

HouseOfBamboo · 31/05/2012 09:39

I just use whatever anti perspirant I happen to be using, like Mum or whatever, it works. I do a fair amount of walking, school runs etc in hot weather.

janmoomoo · 31/05/2012 12:39

An hour of walking around the shops. Not that much. Will conduct further tests at the weekend!

SilentSinger · 02/06/2012 07:53

I ordered my sloggies on Sunday, they arrived on Tuesday and I got to wear then for the first time yesterday. They are FAB!

BoffinMum · 02/06/2012 09:03

My sloggies are not here yet. Sound like Fit Flops for thighs on the comfy front.

darthsillius · 14/06/2012 12:35

The deoderant thing worked for me too. fantastic, it will revolutionise my life!

WeightyKaty · 14/06/2012 14:00

Will def try the deodorant asap. I am wearing some old M&S thigh shapers but i hate how they aren't cotton.
And so glad to hear it isn't just us biggish girls who have the problem although I was hoping my diet would help it but I fear it won't!

sweetheart · 14/06/2012 14:42

M&S do tights which only come down to thigh / top of knee area, they have a lace band around them to strop them rolloing up your leg. I can't find them on their website but in store they are with the tights.

sweetheart · 14/06/2012 14:57

Be careful with too much talc girls - sometimes when you fart it fills the room with the smell of baby powder Blush Wink Grin

darthsillius · 26/07/2012 14:16

I thought I would revive this as the deodorant solution, am using Mitchum roll on is so fantastic. I am wearing skirts with bare legs for the first time since I was 6 years old. In all this boiling weather too!

cheeseandmushroomtoastie · 26/07/2012 15:29

Marking place to read later.

Hetaera · 26/07/2012 19:13

After waiting nearly two months to wear them, I wore my long Sloggy pants yesterday. They were pure bliss! Smile
I felt fresh and cool all day long. I'm going to order some more pairs.

janmoomoo · 27/07/2012 10:10

The deoderant trick is still working well for me. Just use whatever I have around (usually Sure spray) and have a couple of mini sprays in my handbag for reapplication during the day. Brilliant tip, thanks.

KittenofDoom · 18/07/2013 22:48

This thread looks worth bumping given the weather we're having.

This Bodyglide stuff, do any real shops sell it or is it all online?

kittykarate · 19/07/2013 08:48

I bought my first tube of body glide at a specialist running shop, such as Sweatshop/He Runs She runs/Up and running.

KittenofDoom · 19/07/2013 12:21

Thanks .... I don't think I've ever seen a specialist running shop though! None of those names rings a bell at all.

dougalbid · 27/07/2013 17:18

Loads of brilliant suggestions here, hopefully one of them will allow me to rejoin the summer dress and skirt wearing population after so many years of exile.Thank you

BrennieGirl · 27/07/2013 19:23

I've been using the deodorant trick too. It's great. I spent five days walking around on hols in Italy last week and I was perfectly comfortable.

I would love some of those long sloggis though. I just wish they weren't so expensive.

Loveleopardprint · 27/07/2013 23:52

Brennie they are on eBay for £12.99. My ones from last year are still going strong and wash really well. Maybe one nude pair would work as you could wear them under light or dark things?

PosyNarker · 28/07/2013 00:11

Love this thread. I am large of thigh, both muscle and at the moment a bit overfat. My thighs chafe when I'm a size 8. They rubbed when was aged 18 and 7.5 stone. I don't even have narrow hips, I'm just built like that.

I find choosing the right shoe helps a bit - less likely I flags. I've tried the napkin solution Blush and wouldn't personally endorse it as a solution, but if stuck...

I got a fantastic cream in Italy (Avene) when I stupidly wore a walking skirt to Capri. I will try to find name.

Bing brutally honest though, I often wear linen trousers - which I think might be a MN faux pas - or 7 denier tights. Not ideal but does solve the problem.

Unimpressed with the folk that think you must be incredibly fat for this to matter (or indeed even if it was, that we shouldn't help others feel comfortable in their clothes ffs). We are not all of the same build Hmm
