Inner thigh chaffing, find me an answer

i look better in summer dresses, but suffer from the dreaded red sore inner thigh.
I have tried lanacane, hair spray, baby powder all work for an hour or so but need reapplying.
I have bought spans like pants with long legs and that works like a dream, but I really don't need the tight bandaging around the waist.
So I am looking for some sort of very light long leg pants, something like control top tights with a bit of thigh cover so I can washy down the street and not walk like John Wayne.
Any ideas?

I wear these. Even though I have now lost 20lbs, and am a size 10/12, chafing is still an issue. These are really comfy. (Hope link works!)

Comein- it doesn't have to be a Spanish hotel, it could be the tray cloth from any country in continental Europe.

Loveleopardprint · 26/05/2012 23:58

I bought mine from flowerbags on eBay. Came really quickly too.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/05/2012 00:08

Ah yes, Hermione, I was being unnecessarily restrictive much like some of these bloomers.

HouseOfBamboo · 27/05/2012 00:45

Really, give antiperspirant a go - I am hugely chubby of thigh (at all weights) and it works a treat.

And I suspect that those saying 'ooh, just lose a bit of weight you fatties, that will sort your thighs out' are apple shapes. It's like saying to apples 'ooh, don't moan about needing to wear a bra, just lose a bit of weight and your tits will be all neat and pert and self-supporting'. Hmm

loving this thread

BodyGlide works very well- it's specially designed to stop chafing for runners (use it under their arms and between legs.

watersign76 · 27/05/2012 09:53

A vote here for the evans shorts.

It is interesting to know that others struggle with this (aside from others who are bigger like me).

I always imagine all slim people await the summer with glee so they can wear lovely dresses/skirts.

Lots of good solutions on here.

Butwhen it's very hot you want to wear a flimsy skirt to let the air circulate. wearing evans shorts underneeth won't allow that feeling as they're bulky, which is why silky cullottes are the way to go.

SauvignonBlanche · 27/05/2012 13:53

these look good.

kickassangel · 27/05/2012 13:57

Bring back bloomers is what I say

polyhymnia · 27/05/2012 14:04

Anyone have a view on whether the Evans things or the Sloggi version is better? Lanacane works well for me so far but best to be prepared for all contingencies!

Pinot · 27/05/2012 14:29

I feel amongst friends :)

WetTheMogwai · 27/05/2012 14:37

Just bought some Mitchum! If it works as well a you say then I'm forever in all of your debts!

Pinot · 27/05/2012 14:37

Does BodyGlide stain clothes?

osterleymama · 27/05/2012 14:40

When I was pregnant and bloated in the height of summer 2010 I used to buy cheap leggings from primark or h n m and cut the legs to my skirt length. They worked perfectly.

Pinot · 27/05/2012 14:47

osterley that is brilliantly frugal! And I guess v easy to hem to look naice.

SilentSinger · 27/05/2012 14:55

I ordered the sloggi's last night and am now looking forward to wearing a range of skirts/dresses in comfort. I just can't believe I didn't know there were a range of solutions to this years ago!

Elkieb · 27/05/2012 15:04

Body glide doesn't stain clothes- it goes on clear. Mitchum is the best deodorant I have ever found. It just stops me sweating which was a massive problem Blush

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 27/05/2012 15:08

me either silent I have lots of skirts and dresses and avoid wearing them when it is very hot as I get a bit sweaty of thigh and then chafe. I also have Mitchum deodorant already. Off to try it out now. Grin

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 27/05/2012 15:14

Oh, I do love MN!!!

I was talking about this very problem with a friend on Friday night. I will pass on the ideas to her!

LOVE the phrase "chubby of thighs" Grin Me to a tee.

osterleymama · 27/05/2012 15:36

Pinot I'm sure it would be, I never bothered, just cut carefully and they didn't fray. I had a pair for each dress.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 27/05/2012 17:51

ok, can confirm that Mitchum helps, but not a cure, still a bit sweaty of thigh but I havent been walking too much. Its too bloomin' hot.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/05/2012 18:00

I My chubby-thighed friend was just worrying about a gust of wind blowing up the hem of her floaty skirt and revealing those Sloggi bloomers to the world.
