How to be groomed?

blobtobetter · 14/02/2012 21:03

Basically I look like a scruff! I don't have any set routine so forget sometimes to do my eyebrows until the are hideous werewolflike messy and my nails are ignored. My skin is atrocious too. I just never seem to be able to look groomed and pretty!!

Do you have a daily / weekly / monthly grooming routine?

How much time do you spend on your looks?

I am thinking that professional help might be needed! Tempted by HD Brows but they would look wrong if the rest of me is well a mess.

I have just never been organised about all this beauty stuff. It is like everyone else was taken into a secret "how to be groomed" lesson that I missed out on. Come to think of it, I missed the "how to style your hair" and "how to dress so you don't look like you got dressed in the dark.... in your Nan's wardrobe" lessons too!

What are you going to use at night mosschops? Have you got a separate night time moisturiser or oil?

mosschops30 · 29/02/2012 18:56

Thats what i wanted the bio oil for. I have cleanse tone and moisturiser for the morning but i was going to cleanse, tone and bio oil at night.
Not sure if it would be ok though??
I used bio oil on my CS scar on the advice of my gynae consultant, given what my CS was like it worked very well Smile

lollipoppet · 29/02/2012 19:20

CagneyNLacey · 29/02/2012 19:53

dexter73 · 29/02/2012 20:15

I use bio oil on my face. It doesn't sting and makes my skin look lovely and smooth (am 39!!).

drywhiteplease · 29/02/2012 20:23

CheerfulYank · 29/02/2012 20:27

Of course 45 is not old! It's just 15 years older than I am now. :)

I have been following this thread and it made me break my New Year's resolution which was not to buy any more cosmetics until I finish what I have (and trust me, my bathroom cabinet is full of half opened stuff). So today in a mad spur of the moment I ordered neroli oil and elemis pro radiance cleanser (as endorsed by the fabulous mrsm), the LD file and the Maly waxy stuff. I am refusing to add up how much I spent (burys head in sand).

On another note, I have been trying Renunail in place of opi nail envy (a staple of mine for over 10 years) and so far it is libing up to the hype. I think it is better and works faster ( shock horror) but it is early days yet.

Just wondering did we abandon the much hyped argan oil for our faces? There were threads about how wonderful it is, and it is only a tenner on amazon for 30ml... (the sucker that I am, I spent £10 on a 5ml bial of neroli decleor on ebay)

RobinSparkles · 29/02/2012 21:53

Mosschops, there was a thread a while ago raving about avocado oil. It's supposed to make your skin tone even and it's good for stopping ageing apparently. I haven't tried it but I might at some point!

CheerfulYank, I feel the same, like I've aged loads the last couple of years. I'm 28 and there was a thread (one of those "look at my profile, how old do I look?" ones) and the Op turned out to be 40 and she had less wrinkles than me. I'm no way saying that 40 is old but if I have more wrinkles than a 40 year old at 28, I'll probably look about 80 when I am 40! Sad

dexter73 · 29/02/2012 22:17

mosschops I cleanse and tone my face and then just rub it in.

bessie26 · 29/02/2012 22:50

Have you ladies seen this co-buying thread? I've only read it quickly, but I think we can suggest stuff & MNHQ will try to wangle a discount if enough people buy it?

OnlyWantsOne · 01/03/2012 07:03

Right ladies

I'm completely without grooming.

My skin is dry and crap. Help.
My make up falls off after 11Am
Hrlppppp me

valiumredhead · 01/03/2012 08:27

Interesting about Avacado oil as that is the main ingredient in L'Oreal Mythic hair oil.

AnonymousBird · 01/03/2012 10:46

Simple face wash has SLS's in it!!! That can't be right hey?! I have some of it - not used it for a while as was using something else, but in a bid to try and go SLS-free, as I do think SLS's upset my skin and scalp, I thought I'd try my Simple - no can do!

Anyway, on a positive note, my Nail Envy has just arrived. So here we go!

Am interested in this primer business - how do I get some of that???? My local Boots etc are completely crap and stock virtually nothing....

valiumredhead · 01/03/2012 10:49

Tesco is the place for BD primer.

AnonymousBird · 01/03/2012 10:55

Yeah, I thought so, my Tesco is utter rubbish as well unfortunately! Is that the only outlet?

Are there other primers ?

ClaraDeLaNoche · 01/03/2012 11:41

Yippee just scored 3 BD primers! One for me and one for Cheerful Yank. I have a spare if any one wants it. Non weirdos only may apply. I will do spot checks.

AnonymousBird · 01/03/2012 12:14

AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH. Can I?!?!? How much is it, can I send paypal.

Will PM...?

ClaraDeLaNoche · 01/03/2012 12:29

Is £6.66, the number of the devil. Yup PM me. Are you weird?
