Inspired, eh?!

Thanks for your congratulations ladies - I think it's meant to be. My friend and I are gong to swap childcare so no costs to deal with and I know I'm leaving DD with someone I wholeheartedly trust. Plus, i get to do my friend a favour and she can do the voluntary work she wants to do. Hurrah. Not an indefinite arrangement, so can test the waters and see where things go with the school.

Have been thinking more about your situation too Verity - I would also let your friend know that you weren't prepared for another day that causes so much distress for the baby and you. Unless you are, in which case you are a much nicer friend than I could ever be!

Ollie you've done well today! Love the pound of the Mango blouse - can we see?

Ici dauphin, ici!
It's raining here. Very miserable. Think we may miss the snow.
Congrats red, how great about the childcare too.
verity, I don't know what to say, but then I have much less patience with bf than many on this thread, and actually, a less nurting nature. Don't think anyone would ever ask me to do something similar tbh!
Quite excited as am negotiating more hours and extra teaching for next year. All good as wil go into my full time wage and therefore my balenciaga pension pot.
Found these 'nakd' bars in my local health shop today. So tasty, raw, no nasties, and made in Wales. Worth a link!
Have governors later, but will be back..

OllieinOrange · 09/02/2012 17:39

REd Forgot to say huge congratulations about the job and great about sorting the childcare. its the big headache for me - after finding a job of course!

The Mango blouse is this one here. Great that you got it too Reine!

Russianred · 09/02/2012 17:40

Ooh they are lovely Bloss cocoa and orange is my favourite. Great news about more hours.

OP posts:
ReineDeSaba · 09/02/2012 17:42

I can't seem to link the top red but it comes in navy and cream on john lewis site..search for mango heart print blouse. Smile

Russianred · 09/02/2012 17:44

And also can you all decide which colour to go for in the Sweeps - I already have black bikers, stone jalouse (see what I mean MiM), tan-ish Clarks Yarras. I mainly wear coloured skinnies (navy, berry, red, leopard, purple, blue, black) so am thinking the black more appropriate? But no chance of wearing SS, but then I have Jalouse for that. But the tan is nice too.

ReineDeSaba · 09/02/2012 17:45

oh cross-link!love it ollie very versatile..almost perfect, just not a fan of manmade fibres.

ReineDeSaba · 09/02/2012 17:46

bloss they do look scrummy but I fear I would end up eating the whole box in one sitting eliminating all health benefits!

blossoming · 09/02/2012 18:29

Doubt it reine, they were quite filling!
I hope nobody is out in bad weather. Just saw the news and weather. Some areas looked awful.

Zembo · 09/02/2012 19:42

Hello ladies!

Red that's great news, I'm sure it'll all work out for you.

Bloss I've seen those bars on sale in Asda and may have even tried them, can't quite remember!

Verity you are just too kind. I'm totally Shock at the whole thing too. Was it really that important for your friend to go back to work at such short notice?

Reine I like those bags and have similar that don't shut, doesn't seem to be a problem to me, I quite like the easy access. I love the yellow, but I've got a thing for yellow at the moment. I personally overdid cobalt blue a little last summer - wore the cobalt JBrands loads and also a Reiss t-shirt. The only thing I've bought so far this month is a an off-white canvas bag from Accessorize with neon yellow handles and a big neon stripe on it Smile - it's large and will be great for lugging swimming stuff around in.

Blue I have a theory that 'properly done' babies have an easier time of breastfeeding, hope it's true for you. You sound very stylish.

Amber I adore my Comptoir coated skinnies. I'm about to pack a capsule wardrobe for our week away in Glasgow (half term) based around them. Don't suppose they had them in any other colours?

OllieinOrange · 09/02/2012 20:57

Red i think I like the tan boots more but think I am being swayed by having just brought some black ankle boots with a similar heel last month. Im still not convinced i have the wardrobe to go woth them tho. Faff faff.

Dauphin im rubbish about being assertive with my hairdresser, she cuts my hair nicely but has 'views' about colour which don't always match mine!

Im not normally a fan of the Karen Millen satin dresses but quite like the neckline and colour of this one here

Hopefully · 09/02/2012 21:20

Ollie that KM dres is really pretty, love the red too.

Verity joining in with the Shock faces. Are you continuing with the childcare?

Red I vote black, on the basis that the jalouse will cover almost all eventualities for which the tan would be useful. Brilliant job news too!

Bloss those bars look great, but having just consumed a bowl of ice. Ream I am probably beyond the help of raw food. I have decided that I am abandoning dieting in the depths of PMT. plus I shredded earlier, so I figure they more or less cancel out Grin

DH and I have been discussing our honeymoon (what with having got married 7 months ago and all) and planning a long weekend to London in a swanky hotel, meal out one evening and ballet/theatre another. SO excited. Have capsule wardrobe to plan, excuses to shop/make clothes and generally more reason than I usually have to make an effort! Think we'll probably go in April/early May. Hurrah!! With that, MU and wedding in April I've actually got a reasonable amount of smartish events to go to in the near future.

blossoming · 09/02/2012 21:24

That sounds really exciting hopefully. I have pmt too and have been out till now so no shredding.
I am obsessed with the sweaty betty model. I want her figure so badly. Not going to happen sitting on the couch drinking wine!
Lovely dress ollie. Purple and asymmetric. A girl could be tempted!

Hopefully · 09/02/2012 21:31

Bloss have just looked at SB website. Are you approximately 5'11? If not, it seems likely that you're on a hiding to nothing. Her under-bust to belly button length is about the same as my entire torso Grin

blossoming · 09/02/2012 21:41

No hopefully, at dd's developmental check earlier I got measured too. 5'6! And there's me been telling everyone I'm 5'7. That means my bmi is different too! Gutted!

Hopefully · 09/02/2012 21:48

I'm 5'6" too. I daren't calculate my BMI!

VerityBrulee · 09/02/2012 21:59

Gosh, what a day, I am about to go to bed! Baby slept for a total of an hour all day, but I did manage to get her to take some milk from the spoon. I'll keep trying the bottle in the hope she'll take to it, but I'll find that Tommy Tipee cup tomorrow. I feel like a bit if a mug going to all these lengths to wean someone elses baby. Although I could strangle my friend, I told her dh I'll have them tomorrow only because I know there is no way he would take the day off for childcare, that's a womans jobHmm He's a creep and I know the primary reason she took the job was because he was pressurising her to do so. She should have turned down the job, said nothing about it to him and started to wean the baby so she'd be able to take the next job that comes along. If she has to give the job up now, he'll never let her forget it and I'd hate to see that. I think that with persistance I could settle the baby into a routine but next week is half term and I want to spend it with my dc. My dh thinks I'm mad to get involved, he's right of couse. Friend is interviewing a temporary nanny at the weekend but I'm not sure many people would jump at the chance of taking this job on. I am hoping I don't get a desperate call on Sunday night!

When they went home tonight I scoured Matches for a stress relieving purchase, but I think Marsha is right, the weather is just too miserable. It's due to improve by the weekend thoughGrin

ollie I picked exactly the same pieces in Massimo Dutti the other day!

I'm really broody now so have to ask - any twinges yet blue? Wink

Night all and thanks for the hand-holding today!

ApuskiMcClusky · 09/02/2012 22:22

I'm off to bed too - Verity, you're a star, I hope you have a manageable day tomorrow. I'd pre-empt any Sunday night calls by making it absolutely clear that you can't do it next week - maybe make a specific plan for the dc's on Monday that can't accommodate a non-feeding, non-sleeping baby.

I took A to see our new health visitor today - we are now at the heady heights of the 9th centile, and now he's started walking, will finish with his physio. I had to do a quick potted history of the various issues we've had, it sounds a lot when you go through it all at once! But it's good to have a fresh view that there's nothing to be unduly concerned about.

Red, many congrats on the job, and yay on getting the childcare sorted out! I did ask our nanny today, but she didn't have any immediate thoughts, so I'm glad it's sorted.

blue2711 · 09/02/2012 22:25

Can't believe you're broody after the day you've had verity! You are such a lovely friend; she is lucky to have you.

No real twinges yet, I'm afraid. Perhaps a valentine's baby is on the cards? This lack of action could have been really damaging to my bank balance but I keep filling up online baskets and then stopping, I think you're right, this weather just makes SS purchases feel silly.

Night all.

MidnightinMoscow · 10/02/2012 07:14

Morning all.

Wow VB, what a few days you have had - you are an amazing friend. Cannot believe you feel broody after all that though. Grin

Red, great news about the job, congratulations. Glad that childcare is sorted as well.

Dauphin, I now take pictures into the hairdressers to spell out what I am hoping to achieve. Can be a bit cringey as I try to assure them that I understand I won't look like the person in the picture. This week, I took a picture of Kate Moss from her new Mango campaign. Glad you were pleased with your hair too Ollie.

Great news about the extra hours Bloss.

Loads of snow here again last night, agree that this weather makes any spring purchases seem crazy at the moment.

Our neighbour is opposing out loft conversion plans. We have been told the bill for the extra surveyor's fees could be well over 1.5K. I could get a Balenciga for that! Very annoying.

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/02/2012 07:19

Morning!

Well we have snow - not masses but too much for me to get up our very steep hill and as its the last day before half-term we're staying put.

Verity - I think I'd just avoid answering the phone on Sunday and be out of the house on Monday morning. You are a much much kinder friend than I would be - I hope they give you a lovely present to make up for all the stress.

Blue - you are sounding remarkably calm - I think it will be this weekend.

Massimo do have some lovely stuff online - I like the pale pink jeans very much but like you all - just can't bring my self to buy them when its so cold - brrrr.

Really wanted to go for a run this weekend so hope weather brightens a bit - Am enjoying 'run fat bitch run' on my kindle and am full of enthusiasm for a run.

scarfaholic · 10/02/2012 08:19

Hi, it's carciofi here.

Mim, sorry you have had such a hard time.

Blue, best of luck! My birthday is on Valentine's day, it is a nice day to have a birthday except when your baby is older and tries to get restaurant reservations!

Verity, agree you are a lovely person to help your friend out (but I already knew that). Her dh sounds awful.

I have not been too well, had an early miscarriage which I feel very guilty about as was very upset to find I was pregnant. I find the baby stage hard with no family, dh not really around midweek, etc. I feel bad about it though. Thankfully I had told no one except dh obviously so don't have to discuss it with anyone.

Alexa bag is awaiting me in the airport (Portia, yes, you do get the tax free price) and flight is not cancelled so far.

I'll check in again soon, enjoy the snow.

scarfaholic · 10/02/2012 08:21

Mim, do you know your neighbour, could you go talk to him?

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/02/2012 08:29

Oh Scarf - big hug from me.

MIM - do you know why neighbour is contesting your plans? We'll need to get planning for our garden room which I suspect our neighbours will oppose but don't think they'll have much of an argument really but all gets a bit awkward.

MidnightinMoscow · 10/02/2012 08:42

Scarf, bug hug from me too. Please do not feel guilty about any feeling you have had. Please take good care of yourself.

Well, next door is rented, so he actually doesn't live there. We don't know him at all. I am sure that the plans will go through, as what we are asking to do is fairly bog standard. But he has the right to do this, it will just mean more expense on our part. I suspect the surveyors have ££ signs in their eyes too.
