OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 09/02/2012 12:59

verity Shock I'm speechless... Hope day goes as well as it can be for you and your friend's baby.

red Congratulations! That's fantastic news!

blue Nothing wrong with DVDs and picnics in the living room. DD thinks it's the biggest treat ever Smile.

VerityBrulee · 09/02/2012 13:20

It is a cruel thing to do isn't it? I wondered if I was over-reacting. I can't imagine leaving one of mine like this Sad

No joy with the bottles, i have filled her up with fruit and baby rice and a few spoons of milk, but i'm not sure how much actually went in. She's on my lap now. Like yesterday I can't put her down as she cries. Poor thing, i can't get her to sleep either as i suspect she is used to falling asleep on the breast. I have collected her sister from pre school but not a long enough walk for baby to fall asleep, hopefully the car journey to collect my dc will help. I feel a bit like crying myself!

Brilliant news about the job Red, so pleased for you Smile

VerityBrulee · 09/02/2012 13:22

Do you think 6 mths is too young for cup with spout. I don't want to choke her!

IceCreamCastles · 09/02/2012 13:55

Verity-I think the tommee tippee ones say from 4 months on so sure they'll be fine. Very bad of your friend. What about some yoghurt?

Sorry you're still waiting blue. Sounds like you're having a lovely time with your ds. Inspired by you I am letting dd watch a DVD in my bed whilst I catch up on here.

AmberNectarine · 09/02/2012 13:57

Yes, great news red, well done!

verity I cannot believe your friend would do that! I've been reticent to do it with DH (as a desperate attempt to crack the bottle) never mind someone who is doing me a favour! Hope day goes as well as it can!

IceCreamCastles · 09/02/2012 14:00

Well done red! That's fantastic. Hope you can get childcare sorted out easily.

Amber- huge sympathies. Glad you found something nice in comptoir to compensate slightly.

Dauphin · 09/02/2012 14:00

Red well done...!

Verity Oh my gosh. Poor you. Very thoughtless and selfish of your friend, and you have been too, too, kind. However, I would try one of the Tommee Tippee sip cups with her, she should be fine with it. Can you get the husband to pick one up from Boots? Also, my friends swears by being a little firm with a bottle when baby is refusing and actually presses the bottle teat down on the baby's tongue so they start drinking. She says that the bottle teat just feels so different so you have to 'encourage' them. But I haven't done this...and you may not wish to practice on someone else's baby!!!

mrscb Have architect round tonight finalising plans, so we are a little way off planning kitchen. I really love Aga's but we have decided against for new house as they are ridiculously expensive now to run. We will be dependant on oil or electric, and I do like the Aga series...and the Mercury range, which now do an induction hob.
Ditto on cashmere...brrr...it's freezing. Have been wearing a rather fetching bobble hat everywhere (!) and black fur hat (ahem, real fur-eek) when weather really snowy. It makes me smile as everyone does a double take !
What have you been planning?

I am stuck on wearing skinnies, vests, tees and woollies and thick socks as its -4 here....

Oh amber just saw your post - poor you, too! Hope you are getting some rest. We have all had nights like that, and felt exactly the same...it does all look different when you've had some proper rest...

blue just try to make the most of the waiting time.

Dauphin · 09/02/2012 14:08

mrscb Neptune are v nice. Have been into their shop and had a look, and know someone who used to work for them in interior design side. Worth a look.

Dauphin · 09/02/2012 14:10

Marsha - I'm with you on stalling on SS12 buys....too cold to contemplate really. Although I am thinking Easter and summer hols and this may change my attitude ....

I have been keeping up with the thread but not posting..thank you for the new thread red

VB I am struggling to follow your friend's thinking on this one unless it was very easy to wean DC1..you are extremely kindhearted and I feel quite cross she has taken advantage of that.As marsha says there's no guarentee she will accept a bottle..my only concern would be dehydation, though at least the weather helps that!

fritzi gap has 30% VIP code at the moment so very tempted by your bag though not sure what colour best bet..love the idea of yellow but is it just too much, not usually a pink person but when they call it pommegranate..

By the way I love neun und neunzig luftballon too and would love to dance around the kitchen to it with my DDs

annie I love your cherishing small moments ethos..this week mine was making a giant snowball in the park with DD1 and some other children to be assisted by a passing powerlifter!

amber hope you all have a better night tonight.

ants Shock at your deputy..love marc jacobs bags even though I'm not a bag person.

ollie love the fire engine cake on facebook!

blue that would be a productive day in our house Grin

apuski sounds awful, hope you are not feeling too exhausted now.

ReineDeSaba · 09/02/2012 14:13

have massively crossposted..

just wanted to say hope all's well carciofi and you're just taking a little break from the thread..come back soon Smile

ReineDeSaba · 09/02/2012 14:14

agree with annie the upset shouldn't be borne by a friend..a DH or someone paid handsomely..I would be in bits!

MrsCampbellBlack · 09/02/2012 14:32

Was thinking about this as whizzed to sainsburys for pre-snow stock-up and if I were you VB - I'd say you couldn't do tomorrow because baby is just too upset. Her DH will just to have the day off work.

I just don't know how anyone could hand over a bf baby who doesn't take a bottle to a friend like that - I'd be way too worried about the baby and also my friend.

Well done Red!

Our aga costs a fortune to run and really its good for stews etc but not brilliant for other cooking in my opinion. I could have an additional oven but it just gets a bit mad moneywise - I reckon the aga costs at least £150 a month to run which is a lot.

blue2711 · 09/02/2012 14:47

Fair enough, mrscb, I was just being sentimental! Plus our home was freezing so I stood next to the aga most of the time. And my mum mostly did cook stews. Grin

Just off to the birthday party in stripy IO dress, thick leggings, aggies, ancient but lovely pale blue cardigan coat, hot pink gloves. Fur trimmed parka squashed over the top. Keep wondering if each outfit will be my hospital outfit as have been warned to go straight there should anything start as my first labour was really fast! Probably I should be worrying about more serious issues....

FritziGreenEyes · 09/02/2012 14:50

blue This would be a stylish hospital outfit Wink

OllieinOrange · 09/02/2012 15:39

Highlights ok thankfully. Lots of blonde with a few honey blonde streaks put in to give texture - I quite like it - and went and brought some NL coral jeans to go with it Smile. They are the ones with zipped pockets but are more this shade of coral than the NL website shows.

I also got the Mango heart blouse in blue - but have yet to try this and the jeans on - just couldn't face de-layering and taking off snowboots and skinnies etc!

Has anyone else's hair gone crazy with static due to the cold weather? Came out of the changing rooms today and saw in a mirror that a lot of my hair was sticking upright like I'd received an electric shock.

Massimo Dutti has some lovely bits in. This dragon fly scarf was nice in the cream and they had some lovely silk blouses in various styles. This one here would go nicely with the Gap rose jeans?

Verity can only hoist up my judgey pants and add my shock and horror at your friends actions - how distressing for you and the baby.

OllieinOrange · 09/02/2012 15:41

Oh yes. this breton style jumper with coral trim was lovely too

OllieinOrange · 09/02/2012 15:44

Shoe wise - these were fab as were the orange patent sandals in NL here

ReineDeSaba · 09/02/2012 16:20

Gorgeous links ollie all very tempting..I have succumbed to copying your heart top..I don't usually do tiny cute patterns but this one actually seems to work on me.

my hair and I haven't been on good terms for a looong time, certanly the cold and central heating are not doing it any extra favours currently.

so what do you think peeps..shall I order this with the 30% discount or will the fact it doesn't close drive me batty and which coour..

red that's utterly brilliant.

imagine no S and B babies then 3 at once..would be brilliant!

Dauphin · 09/02/2012 16:28

Oh God I fear I should have stocked up with provisions too for tomorrow's snow forecast...it's always treacherous here when there's any snow/ice.

That's a lot to spend on cooking...Just think what you could do with the saving mrscb....!

Is it just me or do the other blondes on the thread go through a lot of angst when discussing highlights with hairdresser. I am v particular over the shade....I know what I want, and indeed it's more shades of a Scandi/Gwynnie 'ash/cool' look rather than champagne IFYSWIM....mind you I look like a madwoman at the moment as my wavy hair seems to have a mind of its own...weather/hat wearing induced I might add...

Glad hair looks good ollie

Dauphin · 09/02/2012 16:29

Oh, and ou est Bloss? Hope the snow is being kind to her....

Dauphin · 09/02/2012 16:30

Funny thing...just said 'hello' to my 2 year old DD as she ran past study, and she shouted, 'I'm NOT!'...... must investigate....
