Best I could come up with......

OP posts:
blue2711 · 18/01/2012 16:28

Glad you're pleased with the haircut hopefully. I have an appt on Friday and am counting down the days as it currently looks dreadful. Glad you like mulberries too. I know what you mean about the cost but my Alexa is probably at a cost per use of 50p now... (whereas many of my many TS purchases are probably at £20 a time...must break that 'it's quite cheap and I want to wear it tomorrow so I'll buy it" habit).

blue2711 · 18/01/2012 17:04

amber was it you who also bought the Michael Kors /Wendy fur gilet? Or red? Frankie from the Saturdays is wearing it on mail online today... here She looks good actually, I think; I'd wear that outfit. Like her new Aston Martin too...

Russianred · 18/01/2012 17:53

Hello again. Have had a lovely day so far and received some lovely things; a voucher from JL from the IL's (vast improvement on duck radio) which I promptly spent on Laura Mercier bits today, Whistles voucher from Stepdad 1,a lovely gold and sapphire necklace from Stepdad 2 ( coming from a 'broken' home is finally paying dividends Grin), perfume and lovely stationary from DH and my friends are taking me away for some exciting surprise in a few weeks time.

I tried on some Leigh jeans today and had the classic problem of 8 vs. 10 - looks like I'll have to get the 811s after all..! I also tried on the garish Whistles top which failed to get any love here and still loved it, so that's my Whistles voucher gone. Birthday outfit was green cashmere Whistles dress, grey Falke, tan R&B riding boots and tan Mulberry Alexa Hobo.

Hopefully is great that you're happy with so much of your haul - all sounds gorgeous!

Blue it is Amber with the Gilet. I would like it though! Great to hear you're happy with the pre-school choice - I think you just know when you find the fit place, I've never seen DS happier

Ollie raspberry jeans sound great - agree that they'd be lovely with the Boden sweater you linked to yesterday which I very much liked.

Welcome to the Roxy club MiM! How's she settling in?!

Agree that winging it for the MU is the best plan - I think the bar is a bit cheeky asking for that amount of cash when both times we've been previously the tables have been available!

blue2711 · 18/01/2012 17:59

Gorgeous birthday outfit red! I really loved that whistles top too, obviously forgot to say! Think we have v similar taste actually.

AmberNectarine · 18/01/2012 18:23

blue I sent that link to my DH saying 'nice gilet!' and he replied saying 'that is nice! Are you jealous?' goes to show how much he notices about my wardrobe. Thinking about it Frankie is always wearing my stuff, she has the 811s, the earharts, a few McQueen scarves. Do we think she is W&A?

I find Leigh jeans stay up beautifully - but I like the higher rise.

Hopefully - I have an anglomania dress and have handwashed it and its fine - its the viscose jersey if that helps.

Happy Birthday Red!

notyummy · 18/01/2012 19:35

Yes - location may determine outfit! Glad you are having a lovely day.

blue2711 · 18/01/2012 19:46

issima the Leigh jeans do stay up nicely I find. Did you like the pink KG scarf?
amber my DH notices the overall look but rarely the individual items but I take full advantage of this! Can often slip new things by him unnoticed when necessary... I like Frankie's outfits too but bet she is ten yrs younger than me...
red what fun! I always put on something tried and tested in such impromptu situations. And you can never be overdressed on your birthday! Let us know where you go and what you wear.

Russianred · 18/01/2012 19:48

5 min turn round. went for mu outfit from October. shall report back tomorrow!

Zembo · 18/01/2012 19:50

Happy birthday Red glad to hear you've been spoilt, enjoy the rest of your day Smile

Blue I'll wear the Roxy on Monday, just for you. I'd actually love to know what the mini meet ladies think of it on me as I'm not 100% convinced that I suit it. Also very impressed with your full term pregnancy dressing!

I must give the Leighs a go, still thinking about Wendy's burgundy coated skinnies though. I'm going to see if I can find any cheaper ones as not sure I'll get enough wear out of them before we're into 'summer'

Red I missed the 'garish' Whistles top - which one is it?

DH has accepted the permanent job in Glasgow so we'll be relocating there sometime during the summer hols. I'm delighted because the shopping is fantastic I won't be able to make the big MU I'm afraid due to lack of babysitting (DH up in Glasgow at the moment) - he does come down every few weeks but I don't think it'd be right to bugger off and leave him, whilst I swan off to London. I miss our family time together.

Hopefully · 18/01/2012 19:51

Red sounds like a lovely day, a lovely haul and a lovely outfit! Hope you're hunting down the perfect dinner outfit right now. I am Envy at your 8-v-10 problem. I am actually, finally, properly a 12 (I have decided this after trying on all my new clothes today), but would love to get down a bit more. Have ordered another Jillian and a yoga DVD today to achieve it Smile

Blue don't talk to me about cost per use - I am determinedly not thinking about the Alexa hobo and thinking, "ooh, if I used it every day for a few years, it would only work at £30p per use..." I actually did use my Bayswater pretty much daily for about five years. Oh, and I have the Aggies in tan. They are really nice, if they were a fraction lower I'd buy another pair! Although these ones are a bit scary.

Have changed my mind 300 times about my online orders, but have:

  • kept the gorgeous cashmere Inhabit jumper
  • re-ordered the orange 811s in the sale from Shopbop (and in a size down as they are a bit big! Woopee!)
  • ordered the riviera blue Marias from Shopbop (got the last pair in my size)
  • returned the gorgeous Anglomania striped dress. Sob! It was very very lovely, but only about 95% of the way to passing the Roxy Test, and I decided that for that price it really had to be true love
  • returned the [[http://www.my-wardrobe.com/vivienne-westwood-anglomania/colonial-metallic-fond-dress-527302 other anglomania dress]. It was a bit meh on me with my broad shoulders, although a v nice dress.
  • kept a couple of Splendid vests that I also ordered in the sale

I am trying to make up my mind about the lily and lionel scarf. The weight/drape is perfect, exactly what I want, but I'm not sure that the print is everything I want - I'd like something a bit bolder I think. But the more I wear it the more it's growing on me! I also quite like the gondola one. Hmmm.

All these returns have meant that I can totally justify ordering the dicker boots, so I'm thinking I might, as I know I'll never rest until I've at least tried them and compared them to the Jalouse.

Apologies for the mammoth, mostly me-related post Blush

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/01/2012 20:01

Zembo - I'm the same with the roxy - its just fractionally too long really and it annoys me how the straps at the bottom come lose all the time - I do like it but but but . . . it may well end up on ebay. Also the leighs come in burgundy although not coated.

Hopefully if I were you - I'd also order the NL ones and compare to check they're worth the £300 more. I've done this in the past with bigger purchases.

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/01/2012 20:02

Aaah - can't spell - loose!

notyummy · 18/01/2012 20:32

Great news on the move to Glasgow Zembo- I can tell you all my favourites bits on Monday!

Zembo · 18/01/2012 20:38

Mrs CB are you suggesting the Roxy doesn't pass the Roxy test Shock - almost blasphemous Grin I'm not having any issues with the straps at the bottom, more the full on biker look on me. It's really good quality for the money and I haven't seen anything better. I think all that's happened is that it's awakened a need for a leather jacket, but hasn't filled the wardrobe hole to my full satisfaction. But then I'm super fussy. Thanks for the leigh info, will try the burgundy ones.

Zembo · 18/01/2012 20:41

Really looking forward to seeing you again NY - I'm very excited about Glasgow. DH has already found one of those beautiful blonde, sandstone Victorian villas to buy (over budget and we're miles off buying anything yet) - but there are some amazing properties in the area where he's currently renting.

MidnightinMoscow · 18/01/2012 20:50

Hello.

Big Happy Birthday to Red, sounds like you have had a lovely day. Have a great time tonight. FWIW that dress looks lovely on you.

I have brought Roxy home, Fritzi she is like a daughter to me Grin. Am very happy with my purchase and can't wait to wear once I'm not pregnant.

VBAC class was great, really informative and helpful.

Right, off to read the thread and look at the links.

NYE Most of the clothes are packaged up ready to go back, need to get my refund quickly so I can justify boots! Have to wait for pick up for one of the orders though. But you are v welcome to examine/try anything that hasn't left yet when you're next here. Think the Sydney one is possibly too cool. Am tempted by gondola though.

Have just had a really successful eBay session - over £200 in random odds and ends of mine and DPs, including a Brora cardigan. Am now feeling slightly more inclined to part with the other Brora that I don't really wear.

Hopefully · 18/01/2012 21:05

I am Grin at the Roxy not passing the Roxy Test

blue2711 · 18/01/2012 21:13

Anybody ever tried Nobody jeans? Some navy skinnies in my size v cheap on mywardrobe. Going to get the Bloch raspberry flats and feel I might as well buy something else while I'm at it. Like this theory shirt too.

AmberNectarine · 18/01/2012 21:13

Loving this but fear it would do nothing for me.
