Oooh, am I too late to join? Have been on the 'come diet with me' thread and am pretty much back to my 'fighting weight' after an obscene pre- and over Christmas fat-fest. Now could do with some motivation in the style and beauty dept... Will have a good long look at the list tomorrow.

BlackSwan · 23/01/2012 07:01

Never too late, hello Woolwif - we'll have you feeling great outside and in, in no time.

For anyone who is pg btw, the lash stuff isn't recommended...

OP posts:
BlackSwan · 23/01/2012 07:02

or probably the teeth whitener...

OP posts:
Sorelip · 23/01/2012 15:44

I need to join. I gave birth 5 weeks ago today, and I've had about enough of feeling like crap, and even worse, knowing I look like it.

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day - tap water will need to do
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)- yes
  3. Use teeth whitener - I need to get some
  4. Use anti-aging face cream - it isn't anti-aging but it has SPF
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) - desperately needed, I've been washing my hands so much recently that they've bled
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream - I need to get some eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise - I had a CS, so I'll be walking on the treadmill instead for a while, but I do had the Shred ready for when I'm allowed to use it
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day - really need to work on this
  9. Healthy breakfast daily - using Slimfast, so that is my breakfast atm
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) - I have some Ojon treatment stuff, which I need to use 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends - while right now I'd sell my soul for a night on the lash, it isn't really an option at the moment, so this won't be a problem 12. Take vitamins every day - yes 13. Body brushing - I'm not sure this is something I'll stick to, so won't commit myself for now 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week - I'm a veggie, so no 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. - no chance at the moment, but I will aim for 8 hours in 24 16. Regular hair removal - yes 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps - I need to give up not bothering to eat! 18. No more fizzy drinks - I don't drink these anyway 19. DAILY body moisturising - starting today, I will 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. - I actually like this, so will begin tomorrow morning

A shopping trip is required.

BlackSwan · 23/01/2012 17:34

Sorelip - congratulations! DD or DS? Thanks for joining. Constant hand-washing - I remember that making my hands unbelievably dry when I had my DS. Recommend using a pump-pack of Dermol 500 instead of soap. It's anti-microbial and can be used as a cleanser or as a moisturiser/to treat dermatitis.

just to let whoever was having tinned tuna as their oily fish unfortunately it diesn't count as an oily fish

Woolwif · 23/01/2012 18:06

Evening, joined thread late last night in a fit of enthusiasm but too tired to work my way through the list so thought I'd tackle it now.

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day yep, have just got braces on my teeth so can't eat or drink anything other than water when they're in, unsurprisingly this has upped my water intake significantly (and stopped me snacking)
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason) face occasionally, body rarely. Naughty step for me, must try harder
  3. Use teeth whitener nope, but will do this once I've finished with my braces
  4. Use anti-aging face cream bit hit and miss but always find it makes my skin greasy
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) hardly ever
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream nope, oh dear, this isn't going too well so far
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise aha - that's better, I run, do Zumba and have a cross trainer (that I actually use)
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day eat tons of fruit and veg
  9. Healthy breakfast daily yep
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) yep 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends never drink during weeks, normally sensibleish at weekends 12. Take vitamins every day nope but diet pretty good I think 13. Body brushing nope - body brushing and exfoliating? Are you sure I'll have any skin left? 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. yep 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. yep 16. Regular hair removal yep 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps chocolate is my downfall but I've stopped having it every day and now just have a little at weekends, does that count? 18. No more fizzy drinks not even one little diet coke a day? 19. DAILY body moisturising will try but struggle enough trying to get ready for work and everyone ready for school 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. like the sound of this, will try tomorrow

OK - think the overall outcome is 'could do better' so am going to start by sorting out my skincare routine and will then take it from there. Lots of great ideas, off to google the lash stuff.

eternalprocrastinator · 23/01/2012 21:59

Hi all, am seeing some very impressive commitment to the cause. Am wiped out after boot camp yesterday so have lapsed on many courts today (diet coke at lunch, chocolate in the afternoon...aargh.) also caught sight of grand canyon crevices on forehead in the mirror. There's no anti-ageing cream in the world going to tackle those. Did I see someone confess to Botox...?

mathanxiety · 23/01/2012 22:45
eternalprocrastinator · 23/01/2012 23:00

Math- I get foot cramps too. I believe it's bad circulation but mine come and go too, often triggered by cold but a lot to do with how active I am as well I think. Do you have good bed socks? Hot water bottle? What are the chalk tablets you refer to?

Blackswan- sending you cyber get well wishes. Hope the cold is clearing.

mathanxiety · 24/01/2012 04:59

They are Hylands leg cramp with quinine tablets iirc. You dissolve two or three under your tongue and they work very nicely but the last little residue feels like sticky chalk. I find that I get them at night after wearing certain shoes for too long during the day, and if I'm in a swimming pool for too long they cramp too. Iirc, I used to get them more back in the days when I walked everywhere, but that might have been a case of wrong shoes too.

Jacksmania · 24/01/2012 05:40

Ok, I'm in, starting tomorrow.

SilverSixpence · 24/01/2012 10:46

I'd like to join please! Notes to myself on the resolution list:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day (take to work as they don't have a water fountain)
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason) - have scrub
  3. Use teeth whitener - tooth whitening paste and electric toothbrush at night
  4. Use anti-aging face cream don't need but cleanse/moisturise twice daily
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) mustard/coconut oil as a mask 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends 12. Take vitamins every day 13. Body brushing 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps biscuits 18. No more fizzy drinks 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m.
putyourhatonsweetie · 24/01/2012 10:47

sorry went awol,. making some progress, trying to add in a habit a day like fly lady! loving the extra fruit and veg, usually up to 7 a day by lunchttime! my dh says that it should be 5 veg and 2 fruit but he quite often talks bollocks

therumoursaretrue · 24/01/2012 11:02

Hello fellow princesses :)

Just wanted to update on how I am doing with this so far!

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day this was part of my routine anyway but have been keeping to atleast 8 glasses
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason) have upped body to every other day as I have very dry skin and have noticed a difference already; face is 2 times a week
  3. Use teeth whitener have had my teeth whitened by my dentist so can skip this step....I just use Pearl Drops which keeps them looking nearly new
  4. Use anti-aging face cream has been part of my routine forever
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) usually get biosculpture nails every fortnight but have been neglecting these since I got pg, feel guilty about the money! Have just been filing and polishing myself but feel like I really want a mani/pedi now. Might stretch to one after my 1st scan as a little treat!
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream I was religious with eyelash serum but don't want to use when pg so need to invest in a good eyecream instead. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise No shred or intensive exercise for me. Yoga, swimming and walking; but really missing Zumba so might have a chat with instructor about doing it while pg.
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day Have been having a banana and a handful of cherries/strawberries/grapes every morning with cereal and yogurt so that makes up my extra 2! But overall need to get more fruit and veg into my diet
  9. Healthy breakfast daily See above! Plus big glass of fresh orange juice.
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) I use moroccan oil but have been lazy with it recently so must get back on track. 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends Pg so alcohol isn't getting a look in! 12. Take vitamins every day Pregnacare at the minute 13. Body brushing Not a bodybrushing fan, but might give it a go at some stage, maybe on days I don't exfoliate 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week Currently try to have 1, will try to up this but at the minute I'm just glad to get food in me at all as have had a bit of an aversion to anything that isn't cereal, fruit or toast! 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. Yes go to bed on Thursday at 9 with a book but still struggle to get to sleep early, but the time alone is nice and relaxing anyway 16. Regular hair removal Yes eyebrows, legs, underarms and bikini line all sorted regularly but would like to get back into habit of using my epilator 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps This has been easy as I've actually gone off chocolate, weird! 18. No more fizzy drinks Had diet coke on saturday night but everyone else was on the lash so I felt justified! Havn't had any during the week at all 19. DAILY body moisturising Yes, did this anyway 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. Done and done, sometimes I'm sneaky and have a peppermint tea instead!

Overall not too bad I think, but some things need a little work!

Sorelip · 24/01/2012 13:59

BlackSwan, DS. He is gorgeous, but hard work sometimes - when he is happy, he is as laid back as DH, but when he is upset, he is like me - vocal, and EXTREMELY loud. Thank you for the Dermol tip, I will pick some up when I go shopping for other princess supplies.

I got some blood test results today, and my iron levels are low, and my thyroid stimulating hormone levels high, so I need to take iron tablets and reduce my thyroxine levels. It's no wonder I've been feeling and looking like roasted crap!

BlackSwan · 24/01/2012 15:03

DS, how lovely. Yes, they can all be hard work at times. I have an iron tip too... if the tablets 'upset your digestive system'... then Spatone is very good.

Hi Jacks & Silversixpence. Silversixpence, quite envious that you don't need an anti-aging cream. I remember the days...

MAJOR stress at work and did not drink water today Blush and I don@t think I combed my hair.. I have promised myself time at the weekend to get back on track.

BlackSwan · 25/01/2012 14:14

Lilly, hope things have calmed down at work. Try not to leave the hair-combing until the weekend though or you will have a serious birds' nest on your hands!

Have a sick DS today. Have showered and brushed teeth. Not much of a princess.

OP posts:
eternalprocrastinator · 25/01/2012 20:43

Looked up the Shred and trembled with fear. The princess in me really wanted to order it but the darker slovenly side of me realist in me knew I wouldn't stand a chance. Respect to anyone doing the Shred.

eternalprocrastinator · 25/01/2012 20:44

Ps Blackswan showering when you have sick DS counts as major achievement in my books! How old is your DS?

BlackSwan · 25/01/2012 21:07

He is just 2 eternalprocrastinator - might I add that while I was in the shower he broke into the bathroom & into the shower & demanded I get out... which I did, else he would have been soaked! All of 2 mins of hot water and soap!

OP posts:
eternalprocrastinator · 25/01/2012 22:25

I can picture it - DS is 18 months and bleats like a lamb outside the shower til i get out. I have no chance if he's sick as he turns into a leech and won't be put down. I've got good at short showers at the weekend when DH is shirking his responsibilities on the golf course off playing golf.

Jacksmania · 26/01/2012 06:27
  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day Nope, not today.
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason) Yup.
  3. Use teeth whitener Not today but I brushed my teeth and washed my face before going to bed which is a massive big deal for me, I usually stagger to bed too exhausted to detour to the bathroom and wash/brush.
  4. Use anti-aging face cream Check. See above.
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) Does hand cream count?
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream Eye cream. Check.
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise Does a power yoga class that left me so sore this morning that I had to get up and move, when I could actually have slept longer, count?
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day. Ummm... not today...
  9. Healthy breakfast daily Yeah... no.
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc). God no, not on my fine and not-needing-any-excuse-to-lie-flat hair. 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends. Oops... 12. Take vitamins every day. Check!!! 13. Body brushing. No, but I scrub all over in the shower every day. 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. Eeeewwww. NO. 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. Please suggest it to my night-owl of a child, too. 16. Regular hair removal. Done. Had laser. 'Twas fab. 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps. When I decide, I'll stop. 18. No more fizzy drinks. Ok. Don't drink them anyway. 19. DAILY body moisturising. Check. 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. Good god, WHY??? What's that supposed to do for you??? In other words, NO, I'm not giving up my cup of coffee first thing in the morning.

Soooooo... how'd I do? :o
