Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

I have never worn makeup and you ladies are tempting me for the first time ever! Does it look like you are wearing makeup? Or just like you have good skin. I would want a totally natural look, me but better if you see what I mean...

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 28/09/2011 12:19

It's, I look like I have perfect skin and glowy cheeks. honestly. My eyes look a bit 'done' but I wanted it that way and it's only because I've used all the shadows and stuff.

However if you never wear makeup you probably have really good skin so I'd be wary of starting now!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 28/09/2011 12:33

hmm, I wish I had perfect skin, gets a super greasy a wee bit shiny.

So can you just use the foundation without doing lipstick and eyes and all that jazz?

valiumredhead · 28/09/2011 12:35

Yes of course you can - I use the foundation/concealor and mascara and liner - that's it!

DuffyMoon · 28/09/2011 12:51

Has anyone tried the Bobbi Brown Mineral foundation yet ?

SeymoreButts · 28/09/2011 12:52

Well..... it really is bloody good isn't it?! I mean really good. You just buff over a blemish, and it's gone Shock The dirk circles under my eyes? They're gone. I get through a touche eclat a month covering those puppies up.

I wonder if you can buy it on Oz? If not I will have to buy two years' supply before we go. How many pots would that be exactly???

Jodie... Thanks

valiumredhead · 28/09/2011 12:53

Yes, tried it in John Lewis the other week - would NOT spend £30 on it!

hester · 28/09/2011 13:04

I've just ordered it...

valiumredhead · 28/09/2011 13:11

I reckon a pot every 5 months, wearing it every day......

valiumredhead · 28/09/2011 13:11

hester welcome to the club Grin

gregssausageroll · 28/09/2011 13:15

Seymore you will be pleased to know that Myer stock BE. Well, the one in Perth does.

meltedchocolate · 28/09/2011 13:19

Ok so I have it on. To be honest I would need paint to cover my spider veins that COVER my face but I am delighted with what it has done!! I look like any other 21 year old :o Normally the veins either make me look like a spotty teen or a much older stressed and worn out woman than I actually am. The test for me will be how well it lasts. After a bit of dancing with my DS will report back!

And no you don't really look like you're wearing anything. It's odd but fabulous :o

SeymoreButts · 28/09/2011 13:33

Woohoo! Thanks gregs we'll be in Sydney so hopefully I will find it somewhere.

I just need to figure out what I actually need to buy, I'm thinking just the foundation and a blusher? Does anyone have a kabuki brush? Seems pricey...

meltedchocolate · 28/09/2011 13:43

It just passed a very unfair test! My shampoo however did not nor did my sweat glands guk! BUT my face is not even red! I am not exaggerating! My forhead feels sweaty but my make up is still in tact. I used matte and my face is barely shiny. Normally my face gets very very red when I dance with DS and my veins become more obvious and I am visibly greasy and sweaty. I LOVE this stuff! :o

Also, the packaging from 'lookfantastic was pretty decent compared to most other places. Will deffo be using them again!

gregssausageroll · 28/09/2011 13:48

You are cheaper buying the starter kit. 2 foundations which you can mix if you need, warmth, mineral veil and concealer along with 3 brushes. Cost £48 but I am not sure of $$ anymore since moving back.

One foundation and a brush would probably cost much the same plus I highly recommend mineral veil!

valiumredhead · 28/09/2011 13:52

melted you need the Bisque concealor for spider/thread veins - magic stuff - just dab it on and watch them vanish!

meltedchocolate · 28/09/2011 13:56

The multitasking concealor in bisque came with it. It made them almost vanish but they are deep purple and wide and right at the top of the skin. Now they are a sort of faded grey/purple and look like they are three layers under if you know what i mean? The little thin red ones have gone though :o

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 28/09/2011 14:23

Ooooooooooooooooooooo I got my first ever FLOWERS Grin Grin

Glad it worked for you Butts. It is MAGICKAL innit....

Hester we shall need a report pliz

And I still think we should have a set of before and after shots from everyone except me Grin

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 28/09/2011 14:24
