Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

I am very slightly large too. Mostly in the bum area. My bottom appears to be hypnotically fascinating to all sorts of people, in both a good way and a bad way Hmm

Oooooo I wonder if I'll get any lippy in my set. HALF AN HOUR UNTIL I CAN GO HOME AND FIND OUT Grin Grin Grin Grin

Thanks for the tip - another way of wasting time. Hurrah!

Well congrats on the non - existent Wink novel :)

Can't put BBBH on Christmas list. My list already contains will-go-with-anything-boots (only have one pair of ankle boots left that only go with a couple of things and a falling apart pair of trainers :() and a sewing machine (to make clothes that I can not afford otherwise :( ) Why am I spending money on EXPENSIVE make up then I hear you ask? Well it covers my veins better than anything else, and even a skint lady must spoil herself on occasion :o

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 15:34

Thank you :) Wink

oooo do you sew?? I do too! And we sew so that we can have beautiful custom-fit hand-made one-off pieces, NOT because we are poor, mmmmkay?!

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:35

meltedchocolate I've used some of the food budget to buy it! Husband not impressed. I figure I need to eat less anyway

ArfurBrain · 05/10/2011 15:35

is this the curvy beauty you were referring too?

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 15:36

Ps Melted - total bossy interruption and off-topic - are you thinking of getting a second hand sewing machine? Cos mine was 10 years old and I have used it and used it and used it for YEARS and it has never given me any troubles, so no use getting a new one IMO. Then maybe you could have a sewing machine AND BBH!

OP posts:
Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:36

I wish I could sew. You will be in your element with pinterest then. There are loads of things I'd love to make. My daughter is currently sporting this style today super easy minus the dodgy ringlet bits.

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 15:38

God yes, would you look at her?! Absolutely fucking gorgeous and just STUPIDLY sexy Shock

I'm not saying you need to be curvy to be sexy btw, takes all sorts to make an orgy: it's just that there's something so bloody MUCKY about pics of bellies and thighs!

Or er, is it just me Hmm

ArfurBrain · 05/10/2011 15:39

oh dear god. Pinterest. What are you trying to DO to me?
I work, i allotment, I choir, I parent, I blog, I Tweet, I FB, I Google+, I MN...and now this?
My children are doooooooomed.

leeloo1 · 05/10/2011 15:40

Congratulations on the free stuff Jodie, but I have to say you deserve it! I started reading the thread last night (almost buying the £15 mini-set but not wanting to spend another £10 to use the money off code, so never finished the order)... carried on reading today and found the 15% off code (thanks to whoever posted that!). So lush beautiful cosmetics are winging their way to me.

I don't normally wear make up other than powder compact [lazy emoticon] which used to look fine when I was younger, but now I'm 36 over 21 I think I may need a bit more help, so hopefully this'll be it! Grin

ArfurBrain · 05/10/2011 15:40

she is one sexy mutha. But I am half her size and not remotely sexy, despite the big bum and belly. I am pale and podgy and porridgey. Not golden and caramelly and sink teeth into-y.

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:40

NO NO NO NO Arfur your children will be blessed. I have used pinterest to make home made paint, travel bingo, easiest ever cape, dinner dice and numerous other life enhancing things!

ArfurBrain · 05/10/2011 15:43

I love crafts. But I am shit. And I spend too much on materials in the misguided hope that crocheting or knitting or felting or cardmaking will transform my gift problems and magically turn into THE cottage industry....
My dh tells me he can't afford for me to try and save him any more money

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:45

this is free

meltedchocolate · 05/10/2011 15:45

Sarayu - cant be skipping any meals, am a thin person as it is and so easily loose weight if I don't eat properly every meal every day. Will be tightening food allowance even more than it already is though so I can get some warm jumpers for the winter (seriously I live in such a cold place and heating the house takes most of my money grrr) I am just being tight sensible with my BE and only using it when I go out. I only bought a little sample kit anyways and will make it last for ages. You just watch me, master thrift!! :o

I was going for a new Janome Jodie. :) I have been borrowing my mothers awesome 30 year old Singer (ah, they were made well back then!) but want one that I can have all the time. You know, so I wont be risking killing anyone's machine that they have taken care of for so long. Getting it off SewingMachineDirect, they are cheap and have rave reviews for their excellent customer service :)

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:46

The dinner dice idea has worked miracles in our house. Once they've decided they've had enough, we roll the dice. They then eat the corresponding number of mouthfuls. I've even managed to get my DD to eat peas. A minor miracle

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:47

Is there anywhere you can go to learn how to use a sewing machine!? I have no idea but want to give it ago

SeymoreButts · 05/10/2011 15:49

Er, what's BBBH?

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:50

BBBH Another must have

SeymoreButts · 05/10/2011 15:55

Oh nuts, I'm going to be so poor...

meltedchocolate · 05/10/2011 15:55

Sarayu. I knew basic things like how to baste an edge and sew a straight line from school. Apart from that I was shown how to thread the sewing machine by mum and started off with REALLY simple patterns and learned as I went along. (with no intention of sewing well enough to be able to wear the first few pieces) I also bought a sewing book by Vogue to help me when I was unsure what something was/meant, or needed an extra tip on how to do something. There is also this lady who has LOADS of videos online kicking about with the basics and the harder stuff OR you could enrol in a sewing class if you have the time and money for that.

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 15:56

saraya what about an evening class for beginners?

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:59

I think I'd need to find a class nearby. There's some lovely tutorials for girl's clothes.

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 16:00

RIGHT I'm off home to enter BE heaven Grin

Expect tedious levels of detail, squealing and excitement later this evening....

OP posts:
meltedchocolate · 05/10/2011 16:00

Shock I thought the BBH would be nearly a hundred quid, it's not.... So I will eat nothing but chicken carcasses and root veggies for the next few months!! :o
