Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

Val it's sooooooooooooooo awful (your hair sounds lovely now though)

With long hair (I am a natural blonde and it is very thick and swingy) I am definitely more attractive; Or FEEL more attractive anyway, which amounts to the same thing...

In the last 18 months - 2 years I have gained 2 stone and lost my beautiful long hair and aged about 10 years (no great personal tragedy, just a very, shriekingly, unbelievably stressful time) and I ahve never in my life felt so fugly. I think that's why I went off one one when I discovered BE...

Pinot I am ticking off the minutes until 4pm when I can get home Grin Grin

DH was so excited he wanted to tell me everything that was in there: I had to bellow "DON'T YOU BLEEDING DARE" down the phone Grin

I mean really, that would be like ruining Christmas by opening a small child's present for him.

I am going to post a whole SERIES of pix

Yes I had all my lovely hair cut off as I was told 30 was too old for long hair.
I had a chin length funky bob and loved it at the time. Now I hate it and think I look frumpy :(
Can't wait for it to grow back!
Some people really suit short hair but I don't think I'm one of them unfortunately!

meltedchocolate · 05/10/2011 13:55

I know it is taboo to actually mention anything that is stroked out but but but.... novel?? Actually? Tell.... Now

Also, I have practically no money from now until Christmas (it's all going to be used for pressies) so stop making me want things. I want big hair! Sob.

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 14:09

Novel? I thought that was a joke! Are you a writer Jodie?

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 14:10

Put BBBH on your xmas list melted!

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 14:18

BAD BAD BAD BAD S&B. I have been and done it. Visited an orange lady in town. I'm in love. Treated myself to the trial pack from Look. Walked home up a massive hill and my makeup still looks immaculate. Normally I am a heaving, sweaty mess. In store I purchased one of the lipstick kits (mauve), it's beautiful. I'm going back friday for a full face makeover. Now how can I make some money so I can buy the whole range!?

The BBBH is amazing, I love mine

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 14:27

Nah not really I mean who hasn't got a shit novel festering under a pile of cat litter

HURRAH Sarayu !!!!! Grin Quick sell some stuff on ebay and get the whole kit and caboodle! Tonight there shall be PHOTOGRAPHS taken IN MY LIVING ROOM of ALL THE GOODNESS BE HAS TO OFFER

There's only 1.5 hours to go then I'm HOME TO PLAY Grin

Well my kit finally arrived today (I kept changing my mind about what to buy) and I am really happy with it!

It really is all in the application though. It took me 3 attempts (wiping it all off each time) to get it right. The bisque is too dark for me, so I still need a bit of Clarins Instant Light (I love it so) on my eyes and nose first, then the BE foundation very lightly over the centre of my face, the warmth and a tiny bit of mineral veil. If I do say so myself my skin looks lovely! I did look caked in make-up when I followed the dvd to the letter though.

I probably won't use the 2nd foundation in the kit, and the bisque. But I still got 3 brushes, a very good foundation, a bronzer and mineral veil for £36 so not bad at all! (feelunique do a £4 discount if you enter the code autumnsun at checkout...)

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 14:40

My kit is the teeny tiny one. Slightly gutted that I don't get any 'warmth'. Can't afford it at the minute. Do you think my standard bronzer will be ok for now?

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 14:42

Sarayu If I get a spare one in my MASSIVE BOX OF FREE BE SWAG I will send you one :)

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 14:43

And hurrah Seymore, also!

Even now (more than a week of BE living I think? Have slightly lost track Confused) if I put it on wrong, it's not great...

OP posts:
SeymoreButts · 05/10/2011 14:43

I would say standard bronzer is fine, the real star is the foundation IME!

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 14:46

Jodie that would be fab. I'd be happy to pay you but it would be at the end of the month. I think I'll end up with a spare bisque that'll I'll be happy to donate. She didn't use it on me today and can't see that I need it.

My orange lady (she actually wasn't that orange) did half my face and then let me do the other half. Really helped to take away some of the fear about application

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 14:49

Pay me?! Don't be a silly sausage! I've just been sent a buncha free stuff & you'd be welcome to it! I'll open all my stuff when I get home and let you know...

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 14:49

Have you seen this THIS !

I am getting slightly obsessed.

This is the lip kit I got Mauve

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 14:51

What? WHAT?! I DEMAND MAGIC MASCARA!!!1111!!

ARGH! I DEMAND to go home and open my parcel! This is torture akin to Guantanamo goings-on [extremely poor taste emoticon]

I am looking lovingly at EVERY product on their site. I used to be a MAC addict. I am converted. What was the other kit did you buy?

I am a long time lurker on MN, only came out of hiding for this thread and the need to share in the amazement of BE

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 14:53

(What was the other kit did you buy!?) Language? Getting carried away

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 15:00

Ello Ello

It was an eyes lips and cheeks starter set. The eyes are great - I have slightly difficulty doing all the shading they suggest because I don't have eye sockets or something. The blusher is AMAZE - just the right natural rosy pink and lasts and laaaaaaaaaaaaasts. And I have some lip stuff that sort of plumps you up and glosses. Oh it's all just so lovely! Grin

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:02

Have you ever used pinterest? It's amazing for finding new looks

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 15:13

Never heard of pinterest - just looked it up at work - picture of astoundingly beautiful and also gloriously curvy young women STARKER in a wicker bucket seat Grin

Have you ever noticed that nude bigger/curvier women look so much ruder than nude thin women? Do you think it's because we're used to seeing naked or nearly naked models/slebs who are always thin, so we're immune to it, and so when you see someone with flesh and thighs and moving breasts it looks somehow taboo and therefore WAY ruder?

Sorry, that was one helluva tangent Confused

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 15:20

That mauve lippy looks GORGEOUS!!

Sarayu · 05/10/2011 15:22

I can't say I've ever noticed Shock I am a slightly large fat lady. I shall ask the husband. Pinterest is fab. Be prepared to spend hours pining all kinds of things. I've found yummy recipes, amazing makeup tutorials, easy craft ideas. Def worth a look.

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 15:23

Yes IKWYM about rudeness...
