Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

1028 replies

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

Thanks Pinot I will give it a go - as I say, I can always take it back if it doesn't work on my hair. I have vouchers so that's not like real money is it? Wink

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 11:21

jodie NEW THREAD PLEASE! When will this one run out

Dillydollydaydream · 05/10/2011 11:34

Hmm might watch DVD incase Im missing something vital and I could look even better. Ha well I can hope!
I really want to try a BBH too but if I buy one myself my birthday/christmas list will be even smaller!
Any other S&B type items I might want to add to my list oh great ones?

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 11:35

Oh gracious, gracious, I don't know what on

Let's wait until the thread goes BANG and then see who has the nerve to start another Grin

Disclaimer: my name change does not in any way reflect on my BE passionz

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 11:47

jodie just do a 'Bare Minerals part Deux' Grin

shoeprincess2 · 05/10/2011 11:48

I've joined the mineral makeup club (but not BE). I bought the lilylolo mini starter kit on Monday and the postman has just delivered it. I've had a little play, but won't be doing the full shebang until later this afternoon, but on first testing, it seems fab. I have huge pores on my cheeks, so have to apply the flawless matte finishing powder first. I am soooo excited. How sad am I???

shoeprincess2 · 05/10/2011 11:48

Oh, and I have got a £168 gas rebate as well. Happy days!

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 11:48

All right. But no-one'll turn up and I will blush savagely behind my flawless-powdered maquillage

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 11:49

Shoe BOTH of those things are reasons to pull your top over your head and run around the living room celebrating in manner of hat-trick footballer Grin

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 11:52

I will be there! Grin

shoe brilliant! Grin

meltedchocolate · 05/10/2011 11:59

HURRAY! Google Chrome letting me write on Mumsnet again! No more internet explorer! YAY! :)

meltedchocolate · 05/10/2011 12:01

Ms Harsh, I am very disappointed with your name change :(

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 12:04

But Melted how will people know I'm COOL if they can't see I'm named after a drag queen named after a shameless hussy-turned-bodybuilder Grin

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 12:07

God, she was shocking on This Morning, wasn't she? She nearly slipped off the sofa she has so much fake grease stuff on her! And talking about fancying men, I thought she was a lesbian? Confused

Right! Off to buy BBBH - back later to report how it is! Grin

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 13:03

I am back - sped into town and straight to ARGOS! Must've been quickest shopping trip EVER!

OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!! Just had a little play with it and I think it's fab! Grin My hair needs a wash today ( day 3 - bit skanky) and it looks amazing!!!

Will wash properly tomorrow and reserve judgement til then. It needs a cool button but apart from that I am slightly hysterical at how good it is...

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 13:04

OoooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that good, huh?????????

I want a picture now Grin

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 13:12

Yeah THAT good Grin

It REALLY pulls the hair out and round the barrel quite tightly which is what I was worried it wouldn't do!!

I'm waiting for it to flop now as no cool button means it doesn't 'set.'

Pinot · 05/10/2011 13:22

it stays like that val! Spritz with Elnett (the only hairspray any person on gods earth should use. Ever) and swiiiiiiish all day long. Like a loony.

Honestly - you can spot a MNer in the street as they'll be the ones gazing at themselves in the store windows :o

Pinot · 05/10/2011 13:23

Ooh I said loony. Oops. My bad.

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 13:25

I have Elnet! It's still fine atm, so far so good!

Honestly, I really am SO excited - this will (hopefully) free up so mush time!

I am grinning like a loony Wink ( is loony a banned MN word?)

JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 13:27

Gracious. Well when I have sold my novel for £400k got some spare cash I know where it's going!

I did have lovely long hair almost to my waist, then in January lopped it off to a jaw length bob in a futile attempt to look less like I was forever trapped in 1875. It's now back down to my shoulders and should be swooshable by Christmas...

Does anyone else do this hair-snipping bollocks?? I am nothing NOTHING without long hair. I am Samson shorn of his locks at the mercy of the Philistines. I am Austin Powers frozen in a block of ice with his mojo removed. But what do I do every 2 years? LOP THE WHOLE LOT OFF, enjoy 2 months, at the absolute outside, of being a Thoroughly Modern Millie, and then wonder why drivers have stopped letting me cross the road and frantically start growing it again Angry

Mindless ranting there, sorry

OP posts:
JodieHarsh · 05/10/2011 13:28

A LOONY IS A FUCKING BIRD!!!!!

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 13:30

No I have learned my lesson jodie!

I feel awful with short hair! I now have a shoulder length, layered cut which is fab and ever so slightly shorter in the summer and that is IT! I am SO miserable when my hair isn't right.

I went from bra strap length to jaw length once - arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Pinot · 05/10/2011 13:30

Thanks for not clobbering me for using the l word. I agree it's twonky but I don't like to upset anyone

Jodie hurry up and go home and see what's in your box of lovely freebies! I am living vicariously through you!

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 13:33

Oh yes - I am megga envious after getting a poxy bottle of brush shampoo instead of nice new brushes! Wonder what you have got... maybe some sparkly shadows? Or a lip gloss?
