Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

Well I just blew £12.75 (thanks LinderTorte) on a trial kit. I don't use foundation often, what with being naturally gorgeous and with almost perfect skin so it will probably last me a year. I hope this craze doesn't turn out to be like the oil cleansing method one though. That dried my skin out AND I had to ask the chemist for castor oil and explain to him why senakot was not an acceptable alternative.

@ "Feel the same fanny, tight feeling" :o
ahahahahahahaha

Sorry hester - on reflection, I think I prefer the lilylolo to the BE as it's less sparkly. I like, nay need, as matte as can be. So many well spent

GetOrfMo1Land · 04/10/2011 14:19

at senokot

valiumredhead · 04/10/2011 14:23

I'm going to try the Lilylolo ( what a stupid name! Confused) as I like matt - was going to try BE matt but they don't do the light in the sample from the earlier link.

Will report back later!

fannybanjo · 04/10/2011 15:16

valium I am ivory in Avon and I ordered fairly light (thought it would be darker than light!) in BE but it's a TINY bit too fair for my liking so I am probably light in BE. However it is fine, I just prefer a slightly darker tone rather than exact. I have a small pot of BE matt in fairly light that came in the starter kit - let me know if you want it, I'll post it to you, you can PM me your address. My skin too dry for the matt. I've not used it - it's unopened. Smile

valiumredhead · 04/10/2011 15:46

fanny I am Light, Fairly light is too ghostly for me - thank you very much though anyway :)

I use Nude and Ivory in Avon smooth minerals - combination of the two from when they were on offer Grin

AbsDuWolef · 04/10/2011 15:52

Getorf - did I see on another thread (stalker) you're back to considering getting up duffed? look here!

(shameless)

fannybanjo · 04/10/2011 16:00

Valium no worries - I have to be honest, it's probably the reason why I don't like it - it's the wrong colour....

fannybanjo · 04/10/2011 16:10

If anyone would like the two small pots of BE fairly light in original and matt then let me know - will post to you as I hate waste!

Pinot · 04/10/2011 16:32

The BE has lasted all day, even through a sweaty clean-the-bathroom session

GetOrfMo1Land · 04/10/2011 16:41

haha abs the stalker - no, I am broody but I can't be arsed to have a baby. I just think about childcare logistics and shudder in fear.

kerstina · 04/10/2011 17:38

Fannybango I would love the fairly light if you still have it have got light thinking it was the lightest.

Dolcegusto · 04/10/2011 17:41

I went to the bare escentuals place at John Lewis today and had my face beautified.

This stuff is amazing. I even sweated my way through an hour at the gym and it's still there Grin wtf is that all about? Foundation normally lasts about an hour on me and I still look fresh faced with a lovely complexion! (although I ordered online cos it's cheaper Smile

fannybanjo · 04/10/2011 17:59

kerstina is yours the small size? If so, do you want to swap as I need light?! If it's the bigger one the maybe I could buy it? Anyway you're welcome to mine, PM me your address and I'll post it tomorrow. Smile

PeriPathetic · 04/10/2011 18:14

Baaaaah! Room for another sheep?

I'm this >< close to pressing Buy on the starter kit. And have been for days. Blush

What's holding me back? I'm wrinkly erm... older, with greasy, shiny skin (lovely! Grin ) Especially in this heat. But I read somewhere online that it should be applied 30 mins before leaving the house. Really? Or is that how long it takes to apply?

I'm also prone to make-up-induced-zits.

I've been using Clinique's Superbalanced Powder Make-Up for a while, but staying power isn't great. And besides, I've nearly run out and need a spot of retail therapy .

I can't get to a store, so have to buy online

Whaddya reckon?

Pinot · 04/10/2011 18:17

Peri - do it. I have same skin type and it's stays on all day long. The zinc in it is good for spots etc, so I've read up thread. It doesn't take 30mins to apply - gawd no, takes no longer than a normal foundation. Just swirl, tap buff :)

PeriPathetic · 04/10/2011 18:22

Yay! Thank you Grin

I shall pull the buying trigger when DH has gone to bed Wink

Pinot · 04/10/2011 18:30

Happy to help you indulge! Make sure you check around for the best price - I used chemistdirect but I think lookfantastic.com and another site upthread was also cheap. It's bargainous though for what you get - 2 foundations, one warmth, one bisque, one veil and all 3 brushes. Plus a trial of the primer. Worth every penny!

PeriPathetic · 04/10/2011 18:34

I need one who sends overseas, so currently looking at FeelUnique. But will double check before buying, thanks.

Want to make sure I get as much as poss for my dosh!

kerstina · 04/10/2011 18:50

Not bigger size no its starter kit in light not tried it yet but if you want the starter kit in light I will swap that ? Unless someone else offers you a swap for large light .Otherwise let me know how much want and I will write you a cheque. Looked at your profile pic the other day and meant to comment before your skin looks beautiful (do you really need to be wearing BE ?!) as do you and your children ! You remind me of a hollywood film star (smile)

fannybanjo · 04/10/2011 19:15

You have made me blush - hollywood film star?! Lassie you mean.... Wink Thank you for the lovely compliment however photos hide a thousand imperfections. Smile You've made my day though. I have the small kit from Look Fantastic, it isn't the £45 one with the larger sizes in, it's 0.75g of powder so you'd get the matt and original, is yours the small starter kit or more expensive one?

kerstina · 04/10/2011 19:16

Sorry fannybanjo did not read the original post properly you want smaller pots in light from starter kits is that right?

kerstina · 04/10/2011 19:18

x posts my starter kit was £15 yes smaller pots not matt though.

fannybanjo · 04/10/2011 19:25

kerstina yes, that's great as the mineral veil and bisque concealer will be the same so no point adding to postage cost. Shall we directly swap the two foundations? If so, I will PM you my address and vice versa! Oh I love Mumsnet - 'tis the 21st Century Noel's Swap Shop!

GetOrfMo1Land · 04/10/2011 19:45

Actually, out of sheer boredom (I am at home ill) I tried it again when I had a bath (spot has disappeared thanks to toothpaste) and it looks a lot, lot better.

When I put it on before I I really brushed quite firmly. I did it this evening and did lot lighter strokes for a lot longer. I also used the light as opposed to fairly light and it seems to be better. I have also applied some of the brick dust but a very light coating, and it looks very good. Not cakey at all.

Mind you I put it on when it had got dark, so not in natural light, so perhaps I still do look like one of Roald Dahls the Witches but it is masked by the dim light in this house Grin

But - better. I will try again tomorrow.
