Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

OP posts:

Good lord at Tom Ford

I am an extravagant so and so but I would baulk at £37 for a lipsticj and £62 for an eyeshadow quad Shock

valiumredhead · 03/10/2011 16:48

pinot yes but not all the way under just the outer bit and NEVER the lower lash line as I too look piggy! Grin

For a long lasting eyeliner ( now don't all laugh out loud! Blush) try Rimmel ( quiet in the back row!) Exaggerate liner - it's fab and really stays put! Plus only about £3. I am not a Bargain Betty normally but it is really really good - not a good range of colours but if you want brown and black, it's worth a go!

Pinot · 03/10/2011 16:48

mayonnaise as a conditioner. Julia Roberts does it. By feck does she.

valiumredhead · 03/10/2011 16:48

I meant WATER line not lash line!

GetOrfMo1Land · 03/10/2011 16:49

Mayo as conditioner? Wouldn't that stink?

Pinot · 03/10/2011 16:52

Yes it would stink. Stink like Julia Roberts Hmm :o

AbsDuWolef · 03/10/2011 16:55

I do one or the other. I feel the under the eye lining makes me look more mysterious/French/sleepy (depending on how successful the lining is).

Poor cod :(

Pinot · 03/10/2011 16:55

valium thanks love - whats a water line? The inner eye bit?

valiumredhead · 03/10/2011 16:55

Mayo is good for nits. My mate uses it on her kids' afros Grin makes them lovely and soft and silky.

AbsDuWolef · 03/10/2011 16:56

At those prices I would expect Tom Ford to come and apply the make up himself. Then switch teams for me

valiumredhead · 03/10/2011 16:57

Pinot yeah, the bit right inside your lashes , next to your eye ball! The bit Lady Di used to put navy pencil in Grin

I put pencil on the UPPER water line when I do a heavy top line - looks good ( or so I am told!)

Pinot · 03/10/2011 17:00

Every day is a school day on MN! Thanks.

I couldn't use the Tom Ford lippie even if I bought one. It would spoil the perfect TF logo.

I realise I am all about the look.

Baaaaaaa.

GetOrfMo1Land · 03/10/2011 17:01

I was bored a couple of weeks ago so tried the Kate Middleton eyeliner look.

I looked ghastly, washed it off before I scared the kittens. PIGGY eyed.

CristinadellaPizza · 03/10/2011 17:03

Anyway back to BE :o

I have looked at myself again and still look fine. I didn't put a lot on - certainly doesn't look like heavy make up, not much difference in coverage from the tinted moisturiser I normally use. However, normally I would be shiny, shiny, shiny by this time (40 mins in a car at height of day, no A/C, walking to school and back, spraying more garden furniture) and I am not!

I am however, slightly worried that the green I've painted the garden furniture is a bit too green but that's a separate issue

Pinot · 03/10/2011 17:03

You were so not bored! You want to be like KM bcause you luffs her like I do. I know you GetOrf heh heh

Pinot · 03/10/2011 17:04

What colour green Cristine?

AbsDuWolef · 03/10/2011 17:06

Yahs, I think she's a bit heavy handed on the eyeliner. I'm sure her eyes would look HUGE if she did it differently. We should drop by and give her a tutorial. I could teach her about ... um. Stuff. And Getorf could sit her down and teach her about swoopy eyeliner.

VERY Envy of all these pet kittens people are getting. I have a plant. Which is near death.

valiumredhead · 03/10/2011 17:10

IMO you can't be too green in the garden - it'll get weather beaten and worn and will stop looking so new very quickly :)

Pinot · 03/10/2011 17:10

Ginger kitten is peeing blood today (UTI) - don't be Envy of me!

Pinot · 03/10/2011 17:12

I doooooo like the idea of being KM's friend.

We could share our LK Bennetts... and jewellery

hester · 03/10/2011 17:22

Oh, I love love love by Terry. Have you tried the liquid blush, GetOrf? And the cream blush? If money was no object, I'd live in by Terry.

Until then, I'm very happy to have found BE Smile

Gutted to hear that Liz Earle has changed the formula of C&P. I was about to buy a new one, but don't think I'll bother now.

hester · 03/10/2011 17:23

Oh, and way to go, Jodie Grin [does weirdy high fiving emoticon]

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 03/10/2011 17:29

Has anyone tried the Jet Set gel eyeliner which I might've slightly bought having blearily watched a QVC sesh?

It's bloody good but doesn't stay on the waterline, as they actually promised. I have sort of big round innocent eyes instead of nice intriguing almond-shaped once, so eyeliner's a right pain in the hole.

Grin

No point sitting by the front door for my BE parcel yet, is there

hester · 03/10/2011 17:33

Oh, and Lee - I saw you on the telly! I was sitting there with my buffing brush poised, eyes trained on your every move...

Do stay on MN. We won't all be hassling you for BE freebies, promise. (I can't speak for Jodie, obviously.)

CristinadellaPizza · 03/10/2011 17:35

It's rather bright pinot - I was hoping for a sort of forest green but it's one of those greens that doesn't occur in nature. And given that green is the world's most prevalent colour, that's slightly worrying.

It's a sort of rubbish truck/recycling bin green. Not entirely the look I was going for. Oh well, I suppose it'll stop the chair legs falling off
