Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

Also, when I was looking for this thread I was all like

WHAT?! WHAT?!
WHERE IS IT?!
WHERE THE HELL IS IT?!
THEY'VE DELETED IT, THE BASTARDS!
oh wait, there it is at the top, hiding, ha

GetOrfMo1Land · 29/09/2011 15:14

ooooooh

I am going into House of Fraser tomorrow, I was just looking on the website and they have a special 2 day event today and tomorrow and BE is reduced from £45 to £27 for the starter kit.

So if anyone is looking to get it (and try it out as oppoosed to buying online) House of Fraser is the way to go.

So if there is a queue of women waiting to try the Bare Escentuals stuff in cavendish House in Cheltenham tomorrow afternoon, I will guess it is one of you lot Grin

GetOrfMo1Land · 29/09/2011 15:14

Sorry I was so excited I didn't see that someone else has referred to the house of fraser special offer.

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 15:19

Dear Lord that's a bargain ... I would say I'd buy some as gifts for friends but no bloody way am I making their complexions as nice as mine

Melted I have to confess I might not have done quite as much work as I could have done but what can I tell ya, I think fast, I type fast, and I have cheeks like a baby's bum.

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 15:57

I like the AVON one - I acually prefer the formula to BE - although I will always be loyal to BE as it was my first Wink

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 15:58

Oh dear -none of that worked but you get my drift! Grin

MissIngaFewmarbles · 29/09/2011 16:28

27 quid is only for tan or dark kits not light or medium :(

connyrabbit · 29/09/2011 17:33

Ok so am really interested and I am now on the qvc website.
But there's so much Bare Essentuals stuff there, help!!!
Do I really need a starter kit? That's an awful lot of stuff which I know I won't use. Is there one power/veil/whatever it's called that I can use?
I have a pale complexion with lots of imperfections. what do I need to choose?
Please help!!!

Snapespeare · 29/09/2011 17:50

it. is. incredible!

could only find it in selfrides oxford street, so had to pay full price. it is worth every penny. i glow. subtly. this means i can smoke lots and drink gin and my skin will still look fab.

i love you jodie.

fannybanjo · 29/09/2011 18:18

I've ordered the fairly light starter kit. Can't wait! I want it now!!!

DollyTwat · 29/09/2011 18:45

There's going to be trouble if I end up looking like a glittery powdery old lady

gregssausageroll · 29/09/2011 18:49

conny, honestly you would be better with a starter kit and then adding to it when you are happy.

You will need

Foundation, bisque (for concealing), mineral veil. Warmth is optional but comes as part of the kit. I like it and for me it does make a difference.

You also get 3 brushes in the kit too so everthing you need to get started.

feelunique as far as I can see has the cheapest stuff individually. QVC for kits and TSVs and trying anything you are not sure about due to 30 day MBG

flippityflop · 29/09/2011 18:58

Love love love this stuff. Have been using it since 2007 when I read about it in a magazine and was on holiday in America.

I buy my foundation from here: www.feelunique.com/p/Bare-Escentuals-SPF15-Foundation-Lockable-Sifter-8g

Slightly cheaper than QVC and cheaper than in the shops, although only bought the foundation not anything else. The foundation lasts me around 3 months, the rest seems to last forever.

gregssausageroll · 29/09/2011 19:12

The FB page for BE has confirmed that there are several shows over the weekend on QVC if anyone new to the stuff wants to watch. There are new products coming too and new kits.

Toffeefudgecake · 29/09/2011 19:26

Today I received the bareMinerals Try.Believe.Love 6-piece starter kit from Lookfantastic.com (£12, I think). I have tried mineral foundation before and haven't been impressed, but I have to say that this seems pretty good so far. I still look natural, just without the usual blemishes. Am going out to the pub tonight, so have put the matt powder on, with the veil and bisque concealer (which is magical - it's like rubbing out imperfections. It even covers up the irritating splodge of brown pigment that appeared on my face during my second pregnancy).

Now I'm wondering if I should splash out on blusher too - but if so, which one? The 'warmth' sounds a bit strong.

MadamTwoSwords · 29/09/2011 19:35

Checking in with day 1 of operation BE. 4 hrs in a car, a 3 hr VAT training course yawn and it's looking pretty good, I was a bit short on time this morning so didn't spend quite as long as I should have done on it but will do it properly tomorrow.

I can't find my brush though so was using my Elizabeth Arden kabuki. How vital is the brush will it help make me look 21 again??

hester · 29/09/2011 19:43

My kit arrived today! Will report back tomorrow...

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 20:13

hurrah snape i'm so glad :)

And hurrah everyone

I don't care what anyone says - I'm as feminist as the next wo/man and a total bluestocking, but I cannot face life with an ugly mug, and BE has restored my mojo SO THERE

Madam I reckon as long as the brush is maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasive and soft then you'll be fine....

hester am poised....

MmeLindor. · 29/09/2011 20:28

DollyTwat
I am with you. If this is shit, then I will be soooooo disappointed

Pinot · 29/09/2011 20:32

Oh

My

God

Jodie I love you in all sorts of ways now :o :o

I have my testers and I've swirled, tapped and buffed using my fave Body Shop blusher brush - I look years younger and smoother and fresher and SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

So I ordered a full set from Bare Minerals
