Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

OP posts:

Will copy them out when I get back from collecting DS :)

MissIngaFewmarbles · 29/09/2011 13:03

mwah mwah Grin I would never normally airkiss but I am feeling all fabulous and it feels somehow appropriate Blush

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 13:10

Grin Grin

I feel like I have spread joy and happiness and BEEEEEEE-YEW-TEEEEEE across the nation

MissIngaFewmarbles · 29/09/2011 13:15

The sneaky (but lovely) young man did half my face and then showed me. I was practically begging on my knees for him to do the other half

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 13:26
Grin

That's what Orange Lady did to me. I was like NO WAY and she was all like TOTES

Am a bit tempted by this but I like dewy and glittery so don't want matt do I ask for ordinary ?

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 13:35

Yeah, you want the ornery stuff, kerstina. It's lovely - not sparklysparkly but sort of...dunno....luminous, like.

CristinadellaPizza · 29/09/2011 13:41

Right codes are PRIV25 for orders over £25 (£3 off)
PRIV40 for over £40 (£5 off)
PRIV60 for over £60 (£8 off)
PRIV80 for over £80 (£12 off)

Sorry, I got a bit over excited and made a mistake about the £25 off Blush

I started a thread not long ago about BE - can't believe this one has so many posts!

Ladies, I went for the Avon one but as nice as it is, I am dying to try the BE - I am fair skinned but undecided whether to go for the Light or Fairly Light. If anyone who is fair skinned and uses BE would mind, would you look on my profile at a photo of me and see what shade I would be. Don't tell me to go to BE counter as I never have time! Wink

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 13:49

Fanny your colouring is almost identical to mine, you lucky lucky thing Grin

You're going to need the 'fairly light' I reckon, but if you get the starter set in light, it comes with 'light' and 'fairly light' so you can try both....

And I recommend the light eyes lips and cheeks too - perfect for your/our colouring, with gentle shading for eyes and lovely rosy blush.

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 13:50

....you know, I worked in a perfume shop when I was at university the first two times, and my bosses at both places said I could sell snow to an eskimo - I wonder if I should open a used car salesroom!?

kerstina · 29/09/2011 13:53

Thanks for answering my question and yes was starting to wonder if you were being paid by BE and if not you should be Grin

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 13:55

Tragically not - but yes I bloody should. I demand a lifetime supply of Mineral Veil Grin

fannybanjo · 29/09/2011 14:08

Thanks Jodie - you should have purchased shares in BE before this thread! You'd be sitting on a mineral gold mine! Wink

So should I order the starter kit in light then? Anyone tell me cheapest place to order from? Then swirl buff swirl buff 'til I am a goddess? Grin

brighthair · 29/09/2011 14:23

You're all evil, this thread has made me dig out my BE kit Grin

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 14:27

Why hello there bright you're looking ever so well this afternoon, I must say....

fanny I think someone mentioned a website upthread that is supacheap, but my boss is giving me the 'you are so totally online' look, so I can't search ...

Dillydollydaydream · 29/09/2011 14:29

Thanks for the codes. Was going to buy the cheeks, lips & eyes kit but can only see medium and deep ones. Ah poo

Dillydollydaydream · 29/09/2011 14:31

Fanny

Lookfantastic to a small starter kit for £15
or you can get a bigger one for £40 ish.
House of Fraser has got money off the £40 one but depends on your colouring. There were no light ones when I looked

brighthair · 29/09/2011 14:34

O

brighthair · 29/09/2011 14:35

Stupid phone!! I have fairly light, bisque concealer and mineral veil Grin

Jux · 29/09/2011 14:44

I've found the primer on Amazon for about £15 for 30ml.

Snapespeare · 29/09/2011 14:46

right - off to lou lous. is BE 'better' than chanel vitaluminere? I rely heavily on that thanks to mumsnet but i treat it like gold dust as hideously expensive...

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 14:48

It's heaps less sparkly-warkly snape, and lasts longer. IME. But my access to Lumiere is heavily restructed by the fact my sister lives in Birmingham Grin

meltedchocolate · 29/09/2011 14:56

Hello beautiful ladies :) Had mine on for four hours now, done crap loads of cleaning and still looking good Wink I swear I got my tester kit for 12, not 15 quid from lookfantasic. Also 'cadigg' was the seller I bought the other bits and bobs from on ebay.

Ms SwirlTapBuff, tell me, do you actually do any work?! :o
