Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

Right, I am heading into town in search of an Orange Lady to make me look beeeeeaaaauuuutifuuuuuul. Will report back later Smile

eleda · 29/09/2011 10:31

How sad am I, I did a little cheer when I read Aitch's MumsSwearBy email and saw Bare Escentuals on it! yay! I love this stuff!! I have rather alot of it as my MIL has cottened on to the fact I love it and she is a QVC fan! Result!
Warmth - every day use (3 and E with the brush) - makes you look rosy and healthy like you've done the dog walk that morning.
Blusher Colour - just cheeks - i use for evening or occasion like a wedding rather than the all over healthy look opf warmth.
Oh and the primer makes your skin soooooooo smooth as a base.
Don't use too much powder though or you look pocked!

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 10:33

wot wot? WHY DON'T I GET A MUMSWEARBY EMAIL? Sad

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 10:40

If you DO end up looking 'pocked' the orange lady showed me how to use a tiny amount of primer on the concealor brush and the big pores disappear!

AitchTwoOh · 29/09/2011 10:43

why indeed, jodie, why indeed?!

cheers, eleda. Grin

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 10:47

Nobody loves me, everybody hates me, sitting in the garden eating wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorms.... Grin

Jux · 29/09/2011 11:39

Ah yes, sorry, was distracted by a Heron eating the fish from the pond; we've never been graced with a Heron Presence before and the pond is wildly overstocked as the fish people are oversexed and have loads of babies...... They probably use BE; that'll be why they spawn so much, just can't leave each other alone.

Anyway. I have swirled and tapped and swirled and tapped and buffed and buffed and I am not quite so gorgeous as I was when the lovely Lisa did it yesterday but am pretty gorge, I can tell you. I am walking down a cat walk to the cheers and tears of thousands, right now! "I love you ALL dahlinks", people are screaming and fainting as my eyes rest on each of them for just a second...... Oh, no, that was day-dream Blush

I have two largish brushes, which is for what? I watched the video and by the time I got upstairs I'd forgotten!

It's much much easier than I expected. I thought I'd be all cack handed and end up with half the contents on the floor, but no such thing.

Very therapeutic, all that buffing, rather nice. Next time, though, I think I'll do the concealer first and see what that's like. Also, is there actual concealer powder or is it just the brush which makes it? What is the difference between the medium and the medium beige? Can't remember anything, me. [sad shaking of head, there is no hope?]

I only have a little sachet of primer and I like it lots, so will order some on line; but I am considering the eye kits now, as I don't usually bother with eyes but it might just be worth it, and as I'm getting primer anyway....... Grin

Byeckerslike · 29/09/2011 12:01

Aitch
This is ALL YOUR FAULT.

MmeLindor. · 29/09/2011 12:08

God, we are a marketing company's dream.

Jux
so the primer was good? Good that I ordered it then.

CristinadellaPizza · 29/09/2011 12:10

Yes it is indeed MmeLindor. I hadn't even looked at this thread until I got that sodding email (that everyone except Jodie got Wink)

Still, I'm sure she'll be pleased that we read it :o

Dillydollydaydream · 29/09/2011 12:19

Ooh I didn't order any primer. Should I see how it goes first?
Can't you tell I've just been paid, money's burning a hole In my pocket!
Going shopping tomorrow so will probably come home with armfuls of make up goodies and new winter boots - all thanks to S&B :)

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 12:22

IT'SNOTFAIRWHYDON'TIGETEMAILZ

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 12:25

brushes - big one is for heavy coverage and other one is for a more natural look.

Chandon · 29/09/2011 12:26

Aargh, why did it not work for me?

The "primer" is just silicone, right?

And the powder is powdery.

And in daylight I looked weird and glittery.

poo

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 12:27

What emails? Confused

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 12:28

chandon you need the matt version if you don't like the glittery dewy look!

Jux · 29/09/2011 12:29

Yup, I lurve the primer. It makes your face all smooth and soft.

Jodie, somewhere or other on this site there are boxes you tick for the type of mail they send you. Probably under My Mumsnet, Registration Details or somesuch. Just tick the box for MumsnetSwearsBy and then you'll get it.

Ah, valium, thank you.

Am umming about eyes now. Shall I? Shan't I?

Know what I'm getting my friend for Xmas though Grin

Jux · 29/09/2011 12:31

Jodie, I've just looked. Go to my mumsnet at the top of the page and log in. Then a couple of lines down you've got links, one of which is e-mail options.

CristinadellaPizza · 29/09/2011 12:47

I've just had an email offering between £3 and £25 off orders from LookFantastic (min spend £25) so if anyone hasn't placed their orders yet, I will bung up the codes :)

MissIngaFewmarbles · 29/09/2011 12:58

Yes please Christina, I am sold but payday is tomorrow ;)
