Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

I should not read threads like this, first it was the scarf, now it's this, you lot are bullies, BULLIES i tell you!

I am a bit of a foundation junkie, like it to be absolutely untraceable, so everyone believes i am some sort of wonderous beauty Hmm
i have half a pot of No7 mineral foundation, does anyone know that compares, just until i can lay my grubby mitts on some BE
also is Bare Minerals the same thing?

MmeLindor. · 29/09/2011 08:09

Right. It is all Aitch's fault for telling me about this thread. I feel that I am not a real MNetter if I don't get suckered into buying shite have this stuff.

I cannot go to an orange lady cause I live in CH and there are no orange ladies here. Well, there are, but none that sell this stuff.

Would I be best to try a starter pack first to make sure I get the right colours? Or do I just go for the light one?

MmeLindor. · 29/09/2011 08:15

So I could go for this where I get the full pack for £36

or this starter kit for £15

The tester gives me the option of trying the matt one.

Do I need all of that stuff, or what?

Would the starter kit do me until I get to Scotland in December?

Pinot · 29/09/2011 08:18

oooOOOooo I ordered it online and I've had the despatch email already so hoping it'll be in my postie's hand asap. I ordered from Lilylolo as they do sample pots for £1.29 and I'm not sure of my colour (pake, freckly, goldie-gingery hair).

I'm a bit giddy at the thought of taptapswitlswirlbuffbuffbuffing :o :o
Are there any youtube vids anyone can recommend so I don't end up with powdery shite like cod said? Ta

VivaLeBeaver · 29/09/2011 08:34

OK,
I'm really confused. Has it got to be Bare Escentuals or is Bare Minerals as good?

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 08:36

byeckerslike pull yourself together woman, No7?!?! (does not acknowledge has often bought Boots 17 Grin ) Go find an orange lady and get your hands on the good shit. Entire empires were built on the beauty of women. Consider BE the equivalent of Cleopatra bathing in asses' milk before bonking Mark Anthony. Or something. Mme Lindor the starter set should deffo last until December - you use tiny amounts, like it's practically invisible on the brush. And I'd say you deffo need the lovely brushes taht come with the starter set - the application is so essential to it working that if you use the wrong brush disappointment looms. In other news, by GOD I'm GAWJUS Grin

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 08:36

viva they are one and the same....

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 08:37

pinot there might be some official BE ones on youtube cos the starter set comes with a DVD so I reckon they might have uploaded at least some. By the way is anyone else finding that their return key isn't working Confused

MmeLindor. · 29/09/2011 08:41

Ok, will go with the starter set and try it out damn you

Bit concerned that the woman on the qvc video was very very shiny. I don't want shiny.

Bet they don't deliver to CH anyway.

MmeLindor. · 29/09/2011 08:42

oooh, lookfantastic offer FREE INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 08:43

Byeck I really like the NO 7 mineral BUT BE lasts longer and covers better. I can only wear No 7 when I have a tan as even the lightest colour is a tad orange.

BE and Bare Minerals are the same thing!

hester · 29/09/2011 08:44

I'm SO excited; can't wait for it to arrive...

In the meantime, run that by me again? You dip in a kabuki brush, tap off the excess, then swirl it on your face? What is the difference between swirling and buffing? Confused

MmeLindor. · 29/09/2011 08:47

Ok, have ordered.

Can we have a emoticon for threads like this?

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 08:48

Hester it goes:
Tap tiny TINY bit into lid; swirl brush into powder; tap ALL EXCESS powder back into the lid (there must be none visible on the brush) then buff buff buff buff buff onto your face. And then sit and gaze, like Narcissus, at the beauty before you.

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 08:48

Hurrah for bargainous delivery mme!

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 08:55

jodie have you tried 'foiling' yet with shadow/liner?

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 08:56

If you buy the brushes separately they are REALLY expensive - much better to get the starter kit.

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 09:00

Foiling? FOILING? What is this new delight? Spill?!

And seriously, I swear I am not making this shit up - every single day since I have worn this stuff at least one person - and often 2 or 3 - has said how fab I look. Someone just stopped me in the corridor at work and said "Wow you look well - actually yeah you look really really well!"

Jux · 29/09/2011 09:02

Oooh, what's foiling?

I am about to start my first solo mission, but need to watch the video first.

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 09:03

Ooooo Jux the gods go with you - report back!!!

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 09:06

foiling - when you use any mineral shadow WET! You dip your brush into water , or put a bit of water in a saucer/the lid and add a tiny amount of shadow. Then you can use it as a liner OR it creates a different eyeshadow look.

Orange lady did on me - works well!

CristinadellaPizza · 29/09/2011 09:10

Baaaah :o

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 09:12

Cristina....what have you done?! Grin

Oooooooo I am so totes trying some foiling. I have some Parties and Events coming up where a lined eye would be just the very ever so thing.....

CristinadellaPizza · 29/09/2011 09:16

Just ordered the starter set from LookFantastic :o I'm broke so was reading through the thread sadly but then came across the cheapo bargain deal and had to do it. Would be rude to leave it there at that price!

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 09:18

Nice work. And yes I think after all the trouble we kind ladies have gone to to brainwash advise you, you had to get some really....
