Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

1028 replies

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

OP posts:

I love it too. Bought my starter kit a couple of years ago and now have all sorts of pots (i'm adicted to new colours). Never looked so good. Miraculous stuff.

SingingTunelessly · 28/09/2011 21:15

Right JodieSwirlTapBuff - I have been suckered in ordered. Am a died in the wool lover of Chanel Pro Lumiere. which doesn't do the cover up anymore. We shall see if it can turn me into a dewy-faced youngster.

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 28/09/2011 21:29

Welcome to our cult world, Singing Grin

I do hope everyone's going to be posting updates

Jaquelinehyde · 28/09/2011 21:33

Right ladies, my Dior make up is just about to run out (currently scraping the stuff out)

I have hideous skin, actually my skin is worse now than it ever was when I was a teenager and it wasn't good when I was a teenager.

I get bright red spots, blotchy skin tone, greasy areas, sometimes dry flaky areas (particulalrly after an outbreak) and I am scarred from picking too much.

So will this stuff turn me from beast to beauty?

I am so, so tempted I saw it on QVC the other day with full demos and it looked amazing but then the models were gorgeous with flawless skin with no make up on so I didn't buy it.

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 28/09/2011 21:41

Jaq get thyself to an orange lady at a BE counter. Honestly, I REFUSED to believe it would do anything for me - my skin is sensitive and red and spotty and scarred and shiny - and couldn't believe my eyes.

I'm hoping (too early to tell) that it will help with all my skin ishoos. Looking back possibly slathering on pots of heavy-duty greasy artificial gunk wasn't the best plan Hmm

MadamTwoSwords · 28/09/2011 21:43

I do have one question though, how do I use the warmth without looking like an Oompa Loompa?

Must dig out my lip gloss too, go the full face tomorrow Grin

doglover · 28/09/2011 21:47

I really shouldn't be reading this thread!! Am sorely tempted to venture to my nearest BE stockist ..........................!!

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 28/09/2011 21:57

Please Jodie can you be a swirltapbuffbuddy if you use the laura mercier mineral powder?

It's probably pretty much the same as BE. I love it so much Smile

Iloveshoes001 · 28/09/2011 21:57

Grin the warmth is a bit strong.. take a a bit of getting used to. You really only need a tiny amount, swirl the crush in it and then really knock as much off as possible. Then brush it wherever suits. Good luck.

Iloveshoes001 · 28/09/2011 21:58

make that brush (bloody acrylics ruin my typing)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/09/2011 21:59

Warmth = tap the teeniest, tiniest bit into the lid (am talking a mere crumb) the swirl the brush around the lid. Quick sweep in a 3 shape on one side then the other. Repeat if needed but almost certainly won't be.

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 28/09/2011 22:00

dog come come, don't you want to be beautiful?! Grin

NAture you may stay . Owing to your username...

Warmth - well, I don't bother with it. I am not sure why. Partly because it's a bit scary and partly because...well....i just felt it was a step too far or something. You know. A bit like men having spray-tan templates to give themselves a six pack Grin

anyway I LIKE resembling death warmed up an English rose.

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 28/09/2011 22:02

Does anyone know how I can stop my blusher from all coming out into the lid??? It don't seem to be able to close the holes, and I'm worried I'll take the lid off one day and lose all the precious precious mineral beauty-making powder of goodness....

Iloveshoes001 · 28/09/2011 22:13

If you buy the individual products they come with a rotating top which closes the holes. For the starter stuff I'm afriad the only advice is "be careful" Smile

DollyTwat · 28/09/2011 22:23

Can't believe I've ordered some as well!

I will report back as I don't wear make up normally, so it had better be good!

meltedchocolate · 28/09/2011 22:45

It will be wonderful Dolly just watch a tutorial and dont use too much. Remember swirlswirlswirltaptaptaptaptapbuffbuffbuffbuffbuffbuff :) Hey presto!

Jodie just leave it at home on a flat surface. I doesn't really need topping up does it? So no need to take it around and risk losing it.

Right best be off to bed. Remember what Miss Tara Bank tells us 'The best thing you can have in your make up bag except BE is a good nights sleep and the make up artist she has on hand'

JodieSwirlTapBuff · 29/09/2011 07:05

This morning I am going to attempt A SLIGHTLY SMOKY EYE

What's that you say? Madness, Jodie! What on a hot sunny day? For WORK? What fresh hell is this?!

Grin

I am testing the longevity of the eyeliner....

We will need a report back Dolly

And yeah you're right Melted - I'd popped it in my handbag to pep up my blusher after work and before another event, but there was no need. I don't keep it in a makeup bag anymore, but in the flat box it came in....

VivaLeBeaver · 29/09/2011 07:25

Do you need one of their brushes or will a normal foundation brush be ok?

gregssausageroll · 29/09/2011 07:34

foundation brush I dont think will work as it is too flat

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 29/09/2011 07:35

AHHHHHHHHhhhhh

I am going to have to find an orange lady. On Monday when dc are back at school.

Grin
Notveryyummymummy · 29/09/2011 07:40

Hi Ladies
I've been reading this thread with very keen interest (laughing along the way, some of you are so funny!!)
So anyway I was looking into buying some of this stuff due to you all raving about it and I found a website that seems to sell it cheap as chips!! You may all know about it and I'm probably telling you something you know lol (I'm always 10 years behind!)
www.lookfantastic.com/beauty/bare-escentuals
Don't know if it's any good to you ladies!! I found a starter pack for £15 that I'm gunna buy to try this "miracle" out lol

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 07:41

I ended up sellotaping all the holes up jodie and leaving one hole half sellotaped ifkwim?

The new ones come with lockable sifter lids SO much better!

valiumredhead · 29/09/2011 07:46

Have you tried 'foiling' yet?....................

cyb · 29/09/2011 08:02
