Kate's wedding dress

Was wondering if anyone would like to join me in a chat about Kate's dress. Most people seem to think she'll be walking down the aisle in something silky and slinky but I don't think this would be appropriate for the abbey, I was thinking there might be quite a bit of lace involved.

Or that one- but it's been done. i think she should have Lady Gaga as a consultant...

LOL at this Hartnett wedding dress: it's pure Berketex Mother of the Bride
Collection.

diddl · 14/04/2011 18:07

I think something like this

Princess Mette-Marit of Norway had the most beautiful wedding dress ever. Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones also had a fab dress.

alypaly · 14/04/2011 19:04

thought it was supposed to be a low budget weddingHmm

CaveMum · 14/04/2011 19:56

alypaly I wouldn't mind betting that she is getting the dress for free/very cheap - after all the designer will get a shedload of trade from the kudos of having designed THE wedding dress.

noddyholder · 14/04/2011 20:00

lovely

"after all the designer will get a shedload of trade from the kudos of having designed THE wedding dress."

Actuall, I don´t think Diana´s dress was that bad-I think it was very much her at the time.

I think it was the state of the material that made it so bad.

MirandaGoshawk · 14/04/2011 20:18

lol sofaking - you beat me to it! With the bridesmaids in 'marker pen pink'
Classy.

"She's very, very thin which I don't have an issue with in itself, but to be openly "losing weight for her wedding" when she's that thin to start with is setting a terrible example"

Perhaps she's bricking it and off her food? I'd be bricking it with half the world's fishwives gathered round the tellybox ready to pounce at my wedding!

I'm not a particular fan or not. Her style, such as it is (Mother of the Bride, with dreadful tight suede boots), doesn't even register with me, but if you think she's very very thin, you have skewed ideas about bodies and healthy weight.

She's slim, with a slender frame and she doesn't have a lot of body fat. But 'very thin'? No. She's very much in the healthy range.

Have a look at some vintage clothes from the 70s (so not much change in terms of people's overall body shape this close in time) An m&s size 14 is an 8 in today's terms. That's not improved nutrition in that short a time span making us larger, that's simply us getting fatter and the 'norm' moving up.

WasWondering I thought about that dress today, too.

But it was very shiny. A modern version of it would be perfect.

It's a lovely scene. And a lovely dress!

MissMarjoribanks · 14/04/2011 21:32

I wanted a wedding dress with sleeves. Could I find one? No.

There are thousands of them on this thread! Sob.

(I hope she doesn't have one though as I will be livid if they come back into fashion now. I'm not getting married again. I suspect she will though).
