This guy pickled. he certainly looks the part and like the fact he's British. Love Anne Hathaway, but whenever an American actor plays a British role, I always find myself focusing on their accent rather than the film. Very much looking forward to seeing it though.

Ladies who are involved in Book Groups, where do you hear about them? The only one I've seen locally is at Waterstones and at 6.30 which clashes too much with bedtime for the DCs. Would happily start one, but where should one advertise?

pickledsiblings · 14/01/2011 14:42

OWW your dress is very lovely Smile

OllieWollieWoo · 14/01/2011 14:43

RLYL - nice Zara bag. I have a Radley stuffed away too - used it loads when I moved here with a 3 month old in a pram (Radley not sold over here) but then went off it. Like this one from Zara too here

redllamayellowllama · 14/01/2011 14:44

Me too Roma. it reminded me of the bit in Gavin and Stacey when Nessa shouts to Baby Neil down the monitor. Will now forever associate Stella with Nessa and it has already made me warm to her a little.

redllamayellowllama · 14/01/2011 14:45

X-posts Hells. Think we're too far apart to start one, unfortunately. Anyone in SE London need a book club in their lives?

AllBuggiedOut · 14/01/2011 14:46

carciofi the boots are lovely.

pickled thanks for navy skirt - out of stock though. and would prefer something that could more easily be dressed down. A friend bought this and it's fab

tracy the whole party thing is such a minefield. I hate that I get so upset if one of my boys (or me Blush) doesn't get invited to something Sad

ooooh I know the DVFs wouldn't fit into my life, and so the bodens would be a much wiser buy. But you may well have a more exciting life than me Grin

hellsbelles · 14/01/2011 14:47

x-post with Red - you aren't North London are you?

I agree Jim Sturgess does look just right for the role

notyummy · 14/01/2011 14:49

Hi all. Dresses I ordered yesterday have arrived - what service! Alas, they will be going back. This one was OK on, but far too short on me for comfort.

This one is very pretty and felt good quality. However it made me look boxy.

I think therefore that I will order this one in compensation!

hellsbelles · 14/01/2011 14:50

yet another x-post! Sorry

I'm slightly freaked that WIT looks like she is posing on the street where I used to live! I am pretty sure it's the one.

hellsbelles · 14/01/2011 14:51

NY - are you searching for a dress for a particular event (sorry - you've probably said but my brain is mush right now).

OllieWollieWoo · 14/01/2011 14:52

Re Book Club - heard about mine through a friend of a friend. May sound strange but I didnt want to join one that was filled up with my existing friends - wanted to meet new people with new opinions iyswim! I love mine - the person hosting puts on some eats. Sometimes these reflect the book so I hosted the discussion on The Namesake (highly recommend it) and as it was about first and second generation immigrants from India to the States and has lots of detail of family feasts, I made mini portions of curry, naan breads etc!

Ours had a waiting list at one point. No idea where you would advertise - in a local newspaper perhaps or via an online book forum? Could also post on here on the Book topic? May be better to ask around and find one via word of mouth? A friend tried to start one and basically it got filled up with nutters who shouted each other down and choose the most weird type of books to look clever etc!

hellsbelles · 14/01/2011 14:56

OWW Grin at the nutter bookclub.

Those of you that sell clothes on eBay - perhaps asos marketplace worth looking at? I have no idea yet if it's any good though!

OllieWollieWoo · 14/01/2011 14:56

There are some new arrivals on the Phase Eight site - but no new Janice a-like dress!

notyummy · 14/01/2011 14:57

No event in particular Hells. Have a girls weekend away coming up, plus birthday outing. Also MOAM obviously Grin Also having 4 days away in some v nice hotels with DH at Easter whilst MIL and her DH look after DD and her cousin together. They did it last year and DD had such a great time that she cant wait to go back - safari parks/chocolate/easter egg hunts etc.

roary · 14/01/2011 14:58

Wayyyyy behind on the thread and will catch up after I have a snooze (dcs taking turns to wake me up between 4 and 6:30 am).

Goop piece: If I were a makeup artist I would totally call myself Wallet. Perhaps I should call myself Wallet anyway.

redllamayellowllama · 14/01/2011 15:04

Thanks for tips OWW, feel quite the same way about not starting one with existing local friends. Have posted on here and will do a bit of research. Not keen on the idea of hosting a range of nutters, but might be amusing to be a fly on the wall as they tried to out-Sartre each other or something.

Very much like the Zara bag you linked to.

carciofi · 14/01/2011 15:26

I didn't like Her Fearful Symmetry. Can't wait to see One Day, I loved the book too.

Lovely Zara bags.

I am going to hope those Belstaff boots go on sale. They make Russell and Bromley seem good value.

Tracey, aww, your poor DS.

moragbellingham · 14/01/2011 15:49

Oooh - liking the Boden downtown sandals alot. Practical, and that is meant positively!

Carciofi's glads though are even nicer (in leopard, obviously - what on earth have you lot done to meGrin - I'm an animal print convert)

Pickled That's a ridiculous price for a sequin skirt but some stores probably have a little stock left, worth a punt.
Liking the BR enough to potentially buy it myself. Think LTECs original is the gold standard one still though.

Very disappointed that my bargain KG Sadlers weren't up to much.
What does everyone think the longevity of cowboys will be? Starsky is way cuter and like a soft slipper in RL but would like a bit of wear out of them.

As for books, I've only just finished my first one over 3 years. Book clubs are a long way away for me (not geographically, just timewise).

p.s. any tips on remembering who said what and how many pages previously gratefully received! I keep wiping out my posts!

moragbellingham · 14/01/2011 15:55

I saw Jim Sturgess on Alan Carr's show with Colin Farrell promoting The Way Back recently. An accidentally enjoyable way to end and eveningGrin.

Zembo · 14/01/2011 16:25

Hello ladies!

Had two deliveries today - the carciofi Boden glads (in leopard natch!) - unfortunately too big for me, and probably a bit too flat too - shame.

Also the Belstaff boots that I think some of you may have. Lovely boots but I still don't have any grey skinnies to wear them with - will probably keep and work on acquiring the latter Smile

Also have booked hotel for the MOAM so I'll be joining you all too - v excited about it..

Zembo · 14/01/2011 16:30

Contemplating this Day Birger sweater which would be more like a dress on me. Wondering if even the xs might swamp me as it's supposed to oversized. Any thoughts?

FritziGreenEyes · 14/01/2011 16:45

cake That sparkly skirt is fabulous, a bargain and totally different to your dress. Think you should get it Wink.

marsha Very wise re the Billy Jean shoes.

So many owls and bars - I'm getting confused and excited at the same time, still no idea for outfit!

Have you noticed: CF's wife is wearing a skinny leopard belt, bet she lurks here too Smile.

ollie You really are my virtual twin: Went to IKEA with DD today too. I haven't been there for at least a year and today of all days the playarea was closed. DD was so disappointed but we had fun anyway. She is now singing and banging the keys on the piano. Might have a glass of wine before bedtime today!
LOL at locking in your cleaner, as long as he didn't cry for help and your neighbour had to interfere (again) Grin.

carciofi · 14/01/2011 16:53

Zembo, I love the sweater.

What is the sizing on Belstaff like? I am usually a 40 but there size 41 available in the grey boots. These are the ones I really want but I can't find my size available anywhere.

Fritzi, who is CF?

AllBuggiedOut · 14/01/2011 16:55

Hi zembo Smile I think the neck might be really low on that jumper/dress. Think the way the studded shoulders stick out when the model has it on are a bit weird too. Love the belstaffs, and presumably a pair of grey skinnies will be easy enough to find?

Owl rings anyone?

carciofi · 14/01/2011 16:59

Morag, you can't beat a bit of animal print. :)
