Umm why do you all hate Crocs so much?

Are they never acceptable? Even the Mary Jane ones. I have two pairs and I love them and they go with everything (Black and Bronze).

I am starting to feel a little self conscious about them now though as they seem to be so despised here on MN.

Have even name changed for this thread.

Can´t see a difference-they still look like crocs!

suwoo · 14/08/2010 18:58

Fark me, those Yukon ones are monstrous. They are worse than the originals.

FairgroundTown · 14/08/2010 19:17
Blush
hmc · 14/08/2010 23:50

I like the yukon ones fairground - but I am not sure that will be a comfort to you Grin

TimothyTigerTuppennyTail · 15/08/2010 00:01

Crocs Alice

I have these. I love 'em. :)

daisystone · 15/08/2010 18:35

Crocs = a lack of style.

They say a lot about a person - namely that you are a frumpy mess.

They should only be worn by small children - and even then I am not convinced....

hmc · 15/08/2010 18:43

Daisy - over preoccupation with sartorial matters say a lot about a person - namely that you are a superficial lightweight.

hmc · 15/08/2010 18:45

If I could have added a raised middle finger emoticon to my last post, I would have

Roobie · 15/08/2010 18:51

Well I rather like my white mary jane style crocs. I do tend to reserve them for the beach and camping however when really no other form of foot wear can cut it.
I also have a long mental list of sartorial 'hates' - crocs are not on this list though.

daisystone · 15/08/2010 19:19

hmc - very defensive of you.... Wink

You know, you can be well dressed and still have a brain.

hmc · 15/08/2010 20:01

Obviously not in your case Wink

hmc · 15/08/2010 20:09

Joking aside, I don't think I was being defensive. Am sitting here feeling quite sanguine and relaxed - not spitting feathers or otherwise riled Smile.

I was merely playing with your presupposition (my comments were clearly modelled on yours), and attempting to show that the assumption you made was rather rude and unwarranted.

Imo, I think it is fine to say - crocs are vile / best reserved for children / ugly but another thing entirely to brand all the croc wearers on this thread are a 'frumpy mess'. If you are going to throw brick bats like that you really must expect some sort of vigourous riposte [shrugs]

shimmerysilverglitter · 15/08/2010 20:46

Agree hmc.

without · 15/08/2010 20:56

Crocs are great for river swimming, and the beach... oh, and camping - that early morning dash to the loo is made a lot easier with Crocs!

But give me heels anyday ;o)

JuicyLips · 15/08/2010 20:57

looooooooove my crocs. so comfy. I hardly wear anything else unless Im at work.

daisystone · 16/08/2010 07:29

Well I stand by my opinion that Crocs are disgusting and people do get judged by what they wear - I am sure you know that.

We can all pretend not to judge but I am sure you have based opinions on superficial aspects of a persons appearance. Or are you going to pretend that you never judge a person until you really 'know' them? I doubt it.

Lighten up love - plenty of people will judge you for your atrocious taste in footwear - they probably just won't tell you.

hmc · 16/08/2010 08:43

"plenty of people will judge you for your atrocious taste in footwear - they probably just won't tell you"

That's fine - I know there are stupid people around. Just as long as they are not rude and confrontational enough to actually say it [shrugs again]

daisystone · 16/08/2010 09:22

Oh please!

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/08/2010 09:27

I would not choose to wear a shoe made out of (what seems) melted Barbie heads.

However, sometimes comfort trumps appearance. Qhen I walked to work I used to wear a suit, and wear uggs/trainers on my feet a la the 80s. Didn't care, was better than hobbling 2 miles in high heels.

SoupDragon · 16/08/2010 09:31

Crocs are horrendously ugly and should be reserved for children or the beach.

Although, with my long thin feet and skinny ankles, I look like a duck whenever I've tried them on so I'll stick with flip flops for beach scenarios.

I hold particular nausea for adults who were brightly coloured ones in a day-to-day suburban scenario. The woman at school with the jeans and bright orange crocs? NO NO NO! She also has skinny legs and thus looks like a duck in them.

But I don't judge people for wearing them. Just because I despise the things doesn't mean I despise the people wearing them. I just might avoid looking at their feet.

SoupDragon · 16/08/2010 09:32

Actually, I would wear them if they were made out of melted Barbie heads. It's about all she's good for.

mippy · 16/08/2010 12:21

"you have to rememmber this is mumsnet, where women of a certain age think converse look flattering on them!"

I've got size 9 feet, so compared with men's trainers, they are, thank you very much.

BunnyLebowski · 16/08/2010 12:59

PMSL at 'melted barbie heads' Grin Grin.

Fwiw I agree with daisystone.

ohboreoffwhydontyou · 16/08/2010 13:20

So anyone who wears Crocs is "a frumpy mess"?

God I would hate to think like some of you do.

Tortington · 16/08/2010 13:23

aren't they ugly shoes for common people?
