Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Please join me ladies. Don't want to be too sad and lonely on a Friday night.......

OP posts:
eshermummy · 23/07/2010 23:06

Am not really supposed to be here but dh is taking dd's to visit mil in Gloucestershire tomorrow to say goodbu=ye for the summer and I have been allowed not to go on account of packing duties . I have actually booked a really rather cheeky mani and pedi for tomorrow afternoon too while they are out and was thinking of running into town to check out some sale hobbs and lkbennett shoes that I saw online but that might be a bit too over-ambitious

Just ordered these in black on ASOS (too cheap to resist no?) - am a bit worried as dithered over them all day and the size 37 sold out so have had to order a 37.5 which may be too big? Have also had to arrange shipping to dh's office which he is a bit grumpy about. Apparently hotshot city lawyers can't take delivery of snakeskin heels . At least with ASOS 28 day returns there should still be plenty of time to return them when I get back from hols if necessary.

MM - can't believe your sil. She sounds like a right silly cow.
Saw your post yesterday about SAHM boredom/guilt/tedium - have so been there (still am tbh from time to time) BUT iirc your dd is at the age now when I think I felt it most acutely with my two. Old enough to be very demanding of you both physically and mentally but not yet at nursery so no break for you. Have you considered a couple of hours of nursery a couple of times a week? It really might save your sanity, I know it did mine.

Ok, bed now and will pack industriously all day tomorrow so that I can come on for last catch up chat tomorrow night (we fly Sunday morning). Not sure at all how am going to cope w/o daily W&A fix!!!

AllBuggiedOut · 23/07/2010 23:51

Evening all.

I regret not having only vegetarian food at our wedding which might not seem much, but it does still bug me even though it was almost 17 year ago! I'm more one for bearing grudges than having regrets

Love the shoes esher. I like the navy cape on the Topshop link, but it doesn't look like the things are on the site yet?

RedBlueRed · 24/07/2010 00:01

Behind again...must try harder.

walkingboots · 24/07/2010 04:29

Oh Caaa-aaake . . . I am de-lurking (diff. name also) to point you to this belt.

V. Patricia Field, no?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 24/07/2010 07:46

RG I'm not one to usually recommend Boden but this in the brown could fit your bill and if you can find a 10/20% voucher code then it's a good price for leather. Just try not to look at the lining which I am sure will be boden-tastic. Hope you finished your work and had a large glass of wine.

blossom I regret never working abroad, I was going to and then my company cancelled it the day before I was suppose to go. Bit of a faff as I had broken up with a b/f (who is now DH so happy ending in the end but...)

RG What can you say in those situations (apart from lets go for a pint!), I hope your DH was able to listen and the other bloke was just having post baby blues as well.

esher I am sure lots of big shot lawyers get snake skin shoes delivered to the office as they never have time to actually shop, most of them are probabaly female however...

MM I was just wondering if your SIL was just massively insecure, if I met someone for the first time who was wearing leather trousers I would be in awe that they had the confidence and figure to pull them off. Saying that, I wouldn't be caught dead in Per Una.

BUSY weekend, 2 BBQs today and in-laws 40th wedding anniversary lunch tomorrow. I am a in a bit of a dither over what to wear today as the weather looks like it is going to be fantastic but don't really have any stylish but cool (in the temp sense) pregnancy clothes (unfort my boobs now look obscene in your dress LTEC!). Tomorrow I am wearing what I wore on Thursday as I got so many compliments!!! Hope you all have good weekends, I will be reading along as I now have my HTC desire (which I am very sad to say I can't find any wise&avid accessories for as I would have loved something like this to put it in.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 24/07/2010 07:49

blossoming HTC is a phone brand in competition with the iphone, they say that iphone is for sheep whilst HTC is for the person who likes to customize their phone to themselves. Personally I say it's a load of bollocks, for most people both phones do 99% of what they want with little faffing. The added bonus (if you are wise&avid) is the iphone comes with a much better accessories selection (as I have linked above)

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 24/07/2010 08:07

I NEED this bag, it's such a lovely understated grey

this however would make a fantastic nappy bag. I wonder if they are going to do it in their plum colour which I love

ApuskiDusky · 24/07/2010 08:24

A quick place-marking, I have been reading but too much baby care going on to post much (A has again put on a little more weight, but not signed off from the midwife yet).

Notyummy, so sorry to hear about your office closing, do you know what will happen next yet for you? My boss is coming to my house for a meeting next week as my job is disappearing, I just hate being in limbo.

MM, I'm with Plum, leather trousers an insult, WTF!?

Libra, I'm in the market for a changing bag too, really like the Luca.

Have a fab sunny day everyone!

bunnymother · 24/07/2010 08:29

Morning!

Will have to think of what I regret, as nothing jumps out at me - I have the "every choice has brought me to where I am now" mentality. Think I wish I was more adventurous, esp w physical things like trying scuba diving etc. Have been good w the travel and going back to Uni, but not physically brave. But I just bet there is something lovely I regret not buying - will report back if so.

Right, DD waking (finally - after much night time shenanigans, choosing the night DH out w friend a Ministry of Sound so tired cranky mumm flying solo.)

Esher, your DH is telling porkies - you and I both know that hotshot City lawyers do get shoes and all sorts delivered to work. What else can you do when you are working all the hours the Lord sends?? Enjoy your holidays!

bunnymother · 24/07/2010 08:32

MM - what atrocious manners your SIL has! I would be inclined to be bloody minded enough to fall in line w her expectations. How sad for her that she is smothered in Per Una, is there a helpline for that?

OK! I think I regret not buying that Theory black leather knee length skirt! Am clutching at straws.

Linwin · 24/07/2010 10:48

Morning ladies

Esher I get stuff delivered to work all the time, everyone at work does it - although I work for a bank in the city not a law firm

Talking of which, I took delivery (yes at work) of that vanessa bruno bag yesterday. Sooo disappointed, its definitely not the same shade of brown it looked on the NAP website and is that really soft almost suede leather which will get all shiny and show up any little mark. So the search continues...thanks to everyone for their opinions all the same.

blossom Regrets I've had a few, definitely would loved to have worked abroad in HK or NY but didn't take the opportunities when they were presented to me, but then I may have never met my wonderful DH. The main ones though are not being there enough for my family back home...I do try but my little godson doesn't understand why he doesn't see his auntie so much.

Plum that is so lovely when you get such a nice compliment.

Have a wonderful weekend ladies. I'm off to selfridges baby clothes shopping....which is my favourite type of shopping these days. Have you seen the little Chloe outfits for baby girls...gorgeous. This is a gift for a friend though, no way would I buy Chloe for my own children.

MarshaBrady · 24/07/2010 10:53

a ha here you are. Great title (I thought who is so stylish then realised it was for us ). Coffee.

blossoming · 24/07/2010 12:45

Hope everyone's having a great day. Thanks for sharing your regrets, really interesting, don't you think?

Sounds like you have a great day in store esher. Have fun!

Some people I vaguely know have invited themselves round this afternoon, anything to get away from the miserable weather, and I'm really annoyed about it. Then a good (Bristonian?) friend and her family are here tomorrow. I feel invaded. I take my open invitation back!!
No more visitors this summer please!

hf128219 · 24/07/2010 15:24

Regrets - I wish I had had dd younger so my mum could see her grow up. It's like history repeating itself - mum had me at 37 and I had dd at 37.

If my dd does the same I will be an old granny too. However when you think of all the people who can't have children I count my blessings

blossoming · 24/07/2010 15:44

I worry about being an old granny too. If my kids wait until they're 40 to have kids, what will be the state of me by then?
My guests didn't stay long, and the sun has come out so things are looking up.

hf128219 · 24/07/2010 15:52

Bloss At least the sun is out! I am home alone this weekend. Just back from a fruitless shopping trip - I wanted a new white bra and some white vests - but came back with some pink sunglasses and a Peppa Pig T-shirt

blossoming · 24/07/2010 16:16

I'm sure they look lovely on you hf. DVF who??

AlistairSim · 24/07/2010 16:17

Every time I read this title, I think it says "camel toe".

It amuses me.

Thanks.

As you were.

blossoming · 24/07/2010 16:31

I'm flicking through September InStyle. Lots of shearling, aviator, 'hiking' boots and a cerise Alexa Hobo which I quite like (oops!)

FritziGreenEyes · 24/07/2010 16:35

Great titel notyummy. Just marking my place .

carciofi · 24/07/2010 17:11

Never a good look, AlistairSim!

Went on to the White Co to buy a few things for DD and bought a navy top for myself to go under the poncho.

I like the sound of the cerise Alexa.

Esher, nice sandals. I always had stuff delivered to the office. Have a great holiday!

DH and I are going out to dinner tonight but I will have to wear jeans as I made a mess of putting on Clarins fake tan. I should have stuck to the cheapie Dove stuff, it never streaks.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

carciofi · 24/07/2010 17:13

Libra, nice bags. Was thinking of switching my Blackberry for an iPhone, I will check out the HTC.

blossoming · 24/07/2010 18:09

libra, I have the smythson iphone cover but in cerulean, sort of blue thing.. Gorgeous though.

carciofi, have a good night tonight. Have been meaning to switch from my j&j holiday skin. Might stick to it now though, never streaks!

traceybath · 24/07/2010 18:53

Love the title - like Marsha I got very excited thinking ooooh a camel cape thread

Good day yesterday but in-laws still here and I am at the irrationlly irritable stage [sigh]

Have made cakes galore for tomorrow's little bbq/party and lamb marninating a la dolcee.

Nearly time for a glass of wine thankfully and then early bed I think

DH has the HTC - he's a techie so spits on Apple

Zembo · 24/07/2010 19:51

Tracey my DH has techie tendencies too and really hates all apple products. I think they look nice

I've had a major bake-in today as well in preparation for our little tea party tomorrow. Still have the birthday cake to do
