Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Please join me ladies. Don't want to be too sad and lonely on a Friday night.......

OP posts:
Zembo · 26/07/2010 16:52

Cake firstly bright green will look fab on you and secondly I think tan will look good too. I'm not that great at combining non-obvious colour combos, but nature is usually fantastic at it. So on my drive to pick up the DC I looked around for green and tan and sure enough spotted a patch of tan coloured parched grass in amongst a mass of lovely green grass. So MUST be ok Probably not helpful but that's how I justify my combos!!! Loads of bright colours go with green - I love bits of red with it. I think the right red handbag would look wicked (and very confident).

DolceeBanana · 26/07/2010 17:18

No definitely not all navy coordinated with bright green...in a word- naff! Can't get my head around tan with it....you'll have to post a pic!

Good luck with interview anyway...knock 'em dead!

Fel1x · 26/07/2010 17:52

Quickly popping in while in the middle of cooking dinner! (DH is unsuccessfully trying to keep the boys under control!!)
Thank you Notyummy for your fab dress suggestions. Really like a couple (a whistles one and the firs KM one) so have bookmarked and will think about!

Sorry to dash in and out. Am mad busy. Also planning a few days in London this week so trying to arrange that! Havent forgotten you all. Will catch up and post more tomorrow.

Love the new thread title

GeorginaWorsley · 26/07/2010 18:25

blossoming which colour cheek/lip stain did you get with Instyle?
Mine arrived today and I have the bronze one.
I may have to purchase another mag to get the pink.

rufus101 · 26/07/2010 18:46

Love the dress Bloss. It might be a contender for my October wedding. God what an awful experience you had. Doesn't bear thinking about. The panic and fear.
Why not a tan bag as well? Or is that too bleurgh? Purple and green is a fave combo of mine. We are talking LA here though.
I'm sure you'll breeze through Bunny. Preparation is all and being so closely monitored is very reassuring.
DH loved my outfit Friday night. Said he was "admiring" me the whole night! Result!

Maryqueenofchocs · 26/07/2010 19:08

Letthemeatcake my fav site has navy bags...

navy clutch

navy shoulder bag

they do next day delivery too

PlumSykes · 26/07/2010 19:29

OOh, 'Tec, this would be cool in teh dark navy.

notyummy · 26/07/2010 19:31

Mary - some lovely bags on that site. Italian leather. Mmmm

LetThemEatCake · 26/07/2010 19:55

have just caught up properly

EIE that dress is hilarious in a good way. Think for 80s I would want to channel Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan though ... my fave look of that decade!! (not for the first time, I will bore you all with the knowledge that I won a Madonna dance-and-lookalike contest in my teens .. my proudest moment )

bloss good god what a stressful time that must have been. No wonder you always sound so strong and together; you must have really realised the extent of your own capabilities through that time and all that followed. As always, my admiration. And yes, on a lighter note - that dress is gawgeous

Zembo you sound a picture yesterday, am so glad you wore the Tiz wedges!! (mental note to wear mine more) Really pleased that the party went well, happy birthday to your dd!!

Bunny I understand your cautious optimism, really I do. Don't forget to enjoy your pregnancy though, the more so as you've already been spared denied the knowledge of a whole 6 weeks of it!!

so many lovely navy bags, thank you all - love plum's dark navy one - yummers. Think I may have missed the boat however as would need delivery tomorrow ... wonder if I can squeeze in a trip to Bluewater tomorrow?? with all 3 dc in tow? Prob not. I too love purple with green but the only purple bag I have is the Oushka Phoenix which is a very Autumn/ Winter bag, not right with bare legs and Hasbeens and whatnot. Ho hum. Tan would really be overkill, I can't do the matching the shoes/ bag belt thing ... although my hasbeens are officially 'olive' and the belt is probably more accurately light brown ... ah, who knows.

CHOOGIRL · 26/07/2010 20:40

Marking my place. Been mad hectic, but hopefully will have a chance to catch up after Britain's Next Top Model

blossoming · 26/07/2010 20:48

georgina, I got the pink. It's great with my colouring. I'm such a brand snob though, I never buy Body Shop. One of my magazines recommended Origins (which I love) lip & cheek stain. Great for the beach, no?

On day 3, dc2 had a pulmonary haemorrage, and they fought all day to save her. I remember feeling sick to my stomach that I'd recently been to London and bought JC boots and my Chanel bag.
We could have lost her then. I count myself lucky that we got three years and ten months to get to know her.
Thanks for all your kindness.

Who's getting married rufus? I can just see that dress with my little red gucci bag tucked under my arm. Good price aswell.

RedBlueRed · 26/07/2010 21:00

Ltec I love the Lola! I missed out on your River Island biker jeans but really fancied them so when I saw these I ordered straight away.

ABO I think the sizing on those asos khaki trousers is very generous, no danger of a camel toe unless I overindulge whilst away on holiday!

traceybath · 26/07/2010 21:19

Bloss - if anyone deserves a chanel bag and JC boots its you

You do know that you have to stop being a teacher and start your own colours/styling business don't you. Imagine - all those school mums you could start with

I am sat in my sitting room enjoying the peace and quiet as all guests have departed.

DS1 started football camp today - bit wobbly to start with but enjoyed it.

And 'ta da' after 3.5 years I have a period - told DH and predictable 'oh thats why you've been so grumpy' comment.

Are any of you lot on twitter at all?

Oh and bought niece who is 8 some boden sunglasses - tortoiseshell big frames. Well lets just say I am the best aunty as she has apparently not taken them off since yesterday afternoon - she even slept in them.

blossoming · 26/07/2010 21:41

Thanks traceyb.
How awful: pmt and ILs. Hope you're enjoying the peace and quiet as I am.
Your niece is one lucky girl!

rufus101 · 26/07/2010 22:29

LOL at your niece TB. How cute!
It's one of my BFs Bloss. It will be a small wedding, registry office with reception at swish country hotel. She's not wearing a traditional wedding dress though, as it's registry office, and I guess we're "too mature"(!) for that kind of thing. She's going to get a fab designer dress, which she can wear again and again. Looking forward to it immensely. Love the idea of your red Gucci bag. Hmm. It is my birthday next month. Don't think DH would stretch to that though!

blossoming · 26/07/2010 22:39

The red gucci is ancient vintage rufus!

RedBlueRed · 26/07/2010 22:41

Blossoming, my apologies for posting on the fly totally bypassing your very poignant post.
A trauma like that should not prevent one from savouring life's littlest JC pleasures without guilt.

AllBuggiedOut · 26/07/2010 22:57

Thanks cain - have ordered a 10.

Lol at LTEC and the thought of running to Bluewater withall 3 kids. I have been known to indulge in such madness myself, so go for it, I say! I was there yesterday (with the kids and DH, so bit of a lightweight really...) just browsing for final holiday purchases. Picked up a couple of vests in Zara and a lovely khaki maxi skirt which is a far better length than the picture makes it look... I saw a woman there wearing this Sass & Bide giraffe dress which I tried a couple of months back but rejected because it was very short. The woman had it on with lace-up suede boots and long jangly necklace and looked amazing. Oh, and she was in River Island

Am now fretting over what to wear on the flight. Fear I will plump for combats vest and cardie for practicality and will be disappointed I didn't feel more stylish.

Bloss I hope you have good dreams tonight.

rufus101 · 26/07/2010 23:13

Be still my beating heart!! These are good, no? Want a pair of brown knee high boots with heel. Have riding type, but want the heel. I really wanted [http://www.luuks.nl/productdetails.php?id=773 these , but in olive green]] last year, but dithered and couldn't get them in my size anywhere. I was in London for a weekend with a friend and my Dsis, they however thought they were too much like wellingtons! However that is a look I quite like! The second ones look very shiny, but I'm sure they aren't in RL. (At least the olive ones weren't)
ABO have a great holiday. That Sass and Bide dress is lovely. You could wear with skinnies/jeggings/leggings, if you felt it was too bare.

LetThemEatCake · 26/07/2010 23:22

have great hols ABO!! over dress for the flight, g'wan, why not??

rufus those boots are very nice indeed.

walkingboots · 27/07/2010 01:01

It was I Cake who delurked when I spotted the belt, because last time I was reading this thread I remembered the discussion of how the SATC belt went brilliantly with nothing and yet everything. Agree that it is spendy.

I love those boots, Rufus. Think Fiorentini + Baker are really great quality as well.

Is anyone else already making a list of fall-winter buys? I have torn off a scrap of envelope (never want it to seem as though I'm too deadly serious about this kind of thing, even to myself) and scribbled the following:

khaki skinny jeans
jeggings, if not too mutton
sweater coat? or duffel coat?
denim vest
tweedy blazer
cowboy style ankle boots?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 27/07/2010 08:00

allbuggiedout if you are flying economy then deffo go for comfort over stylish, I warned my parents last time that I would be flying with them looking like a bag lady (when I was young my parents always used to make us look smart for plane journeys i.e. skirts and pulled up socks and this was for 18 hour journeys!)

rufus LOVE those boots. They will go with everything.

walkingboots my list for a/w is anything that fits and doesn't make me cry (will be very post-pregnancy!) I am very tempted by the opaque tights and denim skirt look with clumpy knee-highs, yes I know it's old hat but it looks so comfortable and easy. It's just finding a denim skirt I like. Probably not what you thought an A&W would be wearing.

LTEC Bluewater with 3 children? Madness that way lies.... However if you need to get something quick how about in cream from Monsoon it is leather green and cream? Sorry I am awful at colour combos.

bloss you have been thru so much, hat off to you for still standing. I like sound of your pewter pumps and very jealous of L*L scarf. Have a great day at the zoo.

tracy no I don't do twitter however having purchased a "smart" phone I am tempted to start following people! Did you have any post-guest retail therapy?

My InStyle hasn't arrived yet minor sulk. Georgina if mine comes with pink I will send it to you as I never use lip tint.

Someone tell me why I shouldn't buy this it even has 2 compartments, one for each child.

traceybath · 27/07/2010 08:05

Morning.

Libra - I did no retail therapy at all as was too tired. Instead re-watched Sherlock with DH who'd missed it - very enjoyable.

I like that bag and very practical. I've never really done nappy bags - well apart from the obligatory Cath Kidston number to co-ordinate with bugaboo with DS1

Right - better get dc's organised and myself ready as cleaners will be here soon and DS1 off to football again.

LTEC - Bluewater - I do stuff like that and regret it after about 3 minutes but your dc's are quite possibly better shoppers than mine. Just take a bag of rice cakes and promise babycinos if they're good and let mummy do her important shopping.

bunnymother · 27/07/2010 08:10

Thanks for all the support, ladies! I think I will enjoy the pregnancy a bit more the closer we get to the finishing line. My pregnancy w DD was so uncomplicated in comparison!

Cakey - good luck today in your interview!!

Tracey - I hear you on guarded conversations as effectively broadcasting to the world. Big sigh of relief from you to wave off visitors. We had good friend stay w us for a week, until yesterday, and was telling DH its a bit wearing for me. Not just because I do all the domestic things, but having someone around me all the time (except for DH - only person I can spend LOTS of time w) gets a bit much for me.

Rufus - boots are nice, but I prefer a consistent rich, traditional colour on a boot myself. But as can admit, am completely old-fashioned re fashion! Think the style is lovely.

Blossoming - hope you love your JC and Chanel - they are some of life's luxuries and should be savoured, esp when someone is as deserving as you. They are supplemental to more fundamental issues ie health, relationships etc, but doesn't mean they don't also nourish the soul! World would be so sad without beauty. Oh dear, what am I - Oscar Wilde-wannabe??

DolceeBanana · 27/07/2010 08:37

Helloooo

Oh, purple and green my fave combo too Rufus and Cake! Love it together...Hope you can find a bag Cake...Sort of thing I'd have to do too...rush off shopping with 3 in tow! Yes, snacks and promise of treat if good usually works, for a short burst of retail therapy!

I keep imagining a sunny yellow bag too....but not practical at this stage of the summer, and you probably hate the thought....I just love yellow!

Bloss - sounds like you have some gorgeous things!

Tracey - amazing feeling when you have the house back to yourself though isn't it? Are you out and about today for a bit of retail?

Right, nightmare trying to find something for wedding...like the Phase Eight but 100% poly means no, and not 'country wedding enough'; saw amazing antique tea rose floral capped sleeve straight neck shift by Alberta Ferreti but not available in my size...surprise....anyone else got any ideas...do want natural fabric....and need shoes/bag too....! Sorry, big ask....but desperate......
