Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

romana I have a laptop sleeve from SF bags. They ar brilliant, then you xan safely carry laptop in any bag you like. They are custom made to fit your laptop.http://www.sfbags.com/ here

roary · 28/07/2010 21:29

Trying that again. here

LetThemEatCake · 28/07/2010 21:37

you are very sweet hf but I am over the holiday thing now as have focused on the downsides (packing for 3dc, ditto unpacking, laundry, out-of-routine dcs, food difficulties and weight gain) to convince myself that I don't even want a holiday. I will settle for a week of reading Italian Marie Claire, drinking good coffee, wine, salad and loooooooong calorie-busting runs. With a spot of AW10 shopping to follow.

Interview went reasonably well I think. Bit scary as were 3 of them talking to me Hard to gauge. Outfit was right. They were all very frocked up. Was looking at book of LA history in reception, gorgeous stuff they did in the 60s, very cool.

hf how is your dad?

Choo so sorry about your friend. Am sure you will say and do exactly the right thing.

hf128219 · 28/07/2010 22:04

LTEC Glad it went well. Wow, 3! I am sure you wowed them!

Dad had an MRI scan yesterday. He is just rather confused and slow. Doing OK I think. The ageing process is a dreadful thing - but you have to count your lucky stars to have parents at any age

MarshaBrady · 28/07/2010 22:13

Three that's intense! Love to see their outfits. Glad went well and it's always great to have a chance to dress up for an interview.

Holiday sounds fabulous hf, hope your dad is ok.

The mj pumps were too narrow for my feet (my feet! are causing me problems!). So could be good if any of you have slim feet. I really loved the idea of them.

AllBuggiedOut · 28/07/2010 23:02

Choo so sorry to hear your sad news.

vin I hope things are resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible.

bunny those shoes are utterly gorgeous.

plum hope your friend is ok.

verity have you located the Top Shop blue cape yet? I asked in my local store today who said they had no idea when it would be in.

Libra fortunately my 3 are big foodies, so an endless supply of snacks usually buys me a reasonable shopping trip!

Thanks for all the US shoping tips - love the idea of getting some premium denim carciofi. I remember much talk of J Crew on here a while back too, so am looking forward to cheking them out.

Love those Vanessa Bruno boots marsha

Glad the interview went well LTEC - when should you hear?

The Asos skinny khakis arrived today and are staying (can't link as Asos site insisting I'm in the US for some reason...) so thanks for the recommendation cain

bunnymother · 29/07/2010 07:17

hf - hope the results of your dad's scan are promising.

Cakey - glad interview went well!! Their clothes aren't my personal style but some of the homewares are lovely. Imagine the clothes are v well made, though. Might have a looksy at their coats and knitwear.

traceybath · 29/07/2010 07:48

Is this the blue cape?

hf128219 · 29/07/2010 08:23

That is the cape. Too military for me - reminds me of dh's uniform!

DolceeBanana · 29/07/2010 08:50

Ooh love those Maje boots! Looking for AW ones now...

DolceeBanana · 29/07/2010 08:55

When's Hells back?

DolceeBanana · 29/07/2010 08:56

And how are you today vin?

notyummy · 29/07/2010 09:04

I think on the right person that cape would look great! Not sure on size 10-12 pear shaped me though - doesn't show my waist/slimmer top half at all and I think you would need to be more waiflike than me to pull it off.

And there is the fact that DH would assume I have joined a military marching band and start prancing round the house humming the Royal Air Force March.

Oh, and well done on the interview LTEC - sounds a little bit intimidating, but I am sure you were effortlessly cool and professional.

FritziGreenEyes · 29/07/2010 09:11

I also love the Maje boots but think I need to look for boots that are a bit less delicate to wear in rainy autumn weather. Can only link to a German shoe website but if anyone is interested I thought maybe these or these. Replay boots. "Fungi" as a colour is a bit strange and also expensive.

DolceeBanana · 29/07/2010 09:19

notyummy - You are so right!
They.Absolutely.Don't.Get.It.

Anything on trend and he's like ...

Was reading Grazia the other night. DH perplexed. Thinks it's all tosh...was especially confused when I said I was perusing the new trouser shapes for AW....

Discussing wedding outfits....He said, well I like the White Co dress...'Not for a wedding, dahling', said I....He was genuinely confused...! He is fixated by this dress...okay, it's flattering and effortless, but it's a casual day thrown on thing, the kind you'd happily thrown on over a bikini, not a, 'I feel really glam, beautiful and stylish', kinda thing. Mars and Venus....

Phew....such hard work.......

FritziGreenEyes · 29/07/2010 09:22

Glad your interview went well cake. Hope you won't have to wait too long for feedback.

Weather absolutely more autumn than summer here today. And we are going to the outdoor reception/concert tonight. But it is raining. Have considered change of outfit. Might wear black knee-length silk dress (with ostrich feather detail) with spanx (also great for a bit of warmth!). But what about shoes? Would be silly to wear strappy sandals in the rain. The dress is really delicate so court shoes would look all wrong. No time to go shopping today. Might settle for silver ballet pumps and change to sandals once we are inside... Sorry about stream-of-consciousness-post.

DolceeBanana · 29/07/2010 09:23

Fritzi - I love the Replay boots! They are gorgeous....need something like this for autumn....but still love Maje too..

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 09:28

Morning all

Not the most relaxing environment here - dd has chicken pox, man fitting new floor in all but one room downstairs inc hallway so can't go downstairs . Very noisy too. I wish we'd just moved instead of having all this work done.

I've bought quite a few eBay bits recently. This navy cape which arrived yesterday. I think it will look nice over jeans though my hands hang a bit funnily out of the slits (a bit like having permanent jazz hands ) so may end up selling it.

These red boots too which are in brilliant condition and lovely. Not sure quite how I'll wear them - I am thinking with black skinnies and dresses too as they fold up or down. I'm really pleased with them especially for a tenner.

I was sorry to hear what a tough time you've been having Vin and hope that whatever happens now leaves you happy and fulfilled.

Choo hoping you enjoy the Almyra now after my recommendation. I felt quite lardy when we went - there were lots of very slim, glam Russian & Scandinavian women by the pool. There was one particular group of five or six couples and their kids and the women were all stunning and well groomed & husbands seemed to be in gym or elsewhere all day. I saw them watching us longingly a few times as us 3 frolicked in the pool together and shared lots of family love.

I read some of the posts about those of you with big birthdays soon(ish). We went here a few years ago and it's definitely where we'll go back to for dp's 40th in a few years. The photos don't do it justice - it's on a private part of the island and is that perfect mix of luxury and natural beauty.

We have booked the Sani Beach for this year's holiday like Esher - think we are going week after you get back. Might fit a few days in Italy in next week with dd if she is better too. My best mate is at home down south for a month with her little dd and I quite fancy a few days being looked after by her mum and letting our girls bond in the sun .

Right, off to rub in some more calamine.

DolceeBanana · 29/07/2010 09:29

LK Bennett had some gorgeous wedge suede boots (and Chloe, but mucho £££s as Tb says!)....in Grazia magazine. Mmmmmmm....

Need:
New coat-really want Moncler skinny long puffa but £££S
Skinny bikers from LaR
Poncho from White Company
Indigo straight legs
Couple of knitted sleeveless jumpers to wear long tees underneath
Couple of winter dresses
Short heeled boots

FritziGreenEyes · 29/07/2010 09:31

Dolcee - Love the Replays too but the Majes more . Will wait for a while (until everything in my size will be sold out as usual...) until I know what my wardrobe for A/W will be like. at your DH. Mine is just the same!

DolceeBanana · 29/07/2010 09:35

MM - So sorry to hear about chickenpox! We are avoiding it at the moment, but not sure for how long!!! Hope your DD gets over it v soon, and you can get some rest from the noise of the builders.. a trying time. We reovated our last house and had builders in at 7.30 am most mornings so do feel for you! It will all be worth it....try and tune in to some relaxing music, and hole up somewhere quiet if you can....I must get on, am being handed bits of lego, so must make a 'pirate ship' ...catch you later!

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 09:46

Anyone like these? I haven't worn wedges for ages until the other night and had forgotten how slimming they are. I like being taller too.

Am also buying the skinny bikers Cain linked to and some mushroom trousers like some I saw in Grazia.

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 10:00

What shoes do people wear with their Houli style trousers? Massive heels just don't work with my life but I've been wondering if a pair of lowish clog boots might work for winter or whether I should finally invest in some biker boots.

FritziGreenEyes · 29/07/2010 10:06

mm - Chickenpox and builders sound like a nightmare combo! Can you hole up on first floor with kids, takeaway food and toys (and laptop for Mumsnet of course )?

Missed Cain's skinny bikers. Can anyone do a link please?
