Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Choo - thats such sad news - agree a letter and offers of any practical help a good idea.

Libra - you see I always had the opposite because i'm small I looked like a weeble. Well with DS1 and 2 - I was about 11stone when I'm normally 7.5 stone give or take a bit so gained nearly half my body weight. Lets just say pregnancy is not a good look on me.

NY - laughing at your 'tiddler'.

Bunny - oh I love those shoes they're like the Start Rite heritage ones which I was thinking I'd get for Bea.

Plum - hope your friend is ok.

Flicked through Look magazine yesterday and there was a camel cape that looked promising from Wallis - not on the site yet though.

Also in grazia some nice looking trousers from gap.

carciofi · 28/07/2010 08:25

Vin, I am disgusted that he thinks you should forgive him. Kick him to the kerb! Tin of salmon from me too.

Verity, wow, I didn't hear about the whale.

Libra, I am also tall and got those comments too (except from one annoying man at work I barely knew who used to shout fatty at me, which made me as he was obese!). My dd was 3.25 kg and very long. She had more room to stretch out.

carciofi · 28/07/2010 08:27

Gorgeous shoes, Bunny.
Sorry about your friend's dh, Choo.
Nice shoes, Roma, hope the job is going well.

roary · 28/07/2010 09:45

Hi all Every time I catch up my lovely kiddies decide they want some attention, so I will need to be brief (I can hear DS stirring RIGHT NOW).

Libra I'm the same when pregnant, it's very annoying, because it doesn't mean you're not feeling huge. ALso I often would have to tell people that I was pregnant because they couldn't otherwise tell. I think it's definitely a tall/long torso thing, I have more room to keep babies in

ABO Banana Republic, and JCREW JCrew. If you need worky clothes Ann Taylor can be either be excellent or frumpy, it's a bit schizophrenic. AAnthropologie will be cheaper. Old Navy for cheap and occasionally quite good basics (it's in the same family as Gap and Banana but the cheapest - often great kids clothes). Target has GREAT kids clothes. These are all big chains that they're likely to have in Florida.

I am off to Canada on my own with the kids (15 weeks and 2) for 2 weeks and v excited to shop at home - something about knowing the terrain! But if another person comments on my bravery in taking the trip I may get very cross. It's not going to be THAT bad (is it?) as I can carry toys etc for dd. I flew to AUstralia with her solo and it was Ok. We are off to Scotland for a week before, we think, but our friends may have to cancel and we were going to stay with them...speaking of which...

LTEC good luck with interview and terrible terrible about your holiday.

Choo any way you can send food to your friend? and how was the shopping in Montreal?

rufus101 · 28/07/2010 10:31

Typical man comment NY! Tiddler indeed! I used to get the "Gosh you look very tidy"(?!) when I was pregnant and I'm a smallie. Also "you'd never know you were pregnant from behind" (????WTF???) I was being constantly scanned for looking small for dates but like you NY they were just squashed up inside me. Cue dreadful heartburn but did it stop me eating? No. I never seemed to learn and would stuff myself as usual and be literally swigging from a litre sized bottle of Gaviscon continually!
Verity didn't get to see the whale. We were away that week. Must have been quite scarey as it was the dinghy summer kids club who were out at the time when it surfaced a few metres
away!
Good luck today Cake.
So sad to hear about your friend DH Choo, makes you grateful for what you have yourself when you hear those kind of stories.

bunnymother · 28/07/2010 12:56

V quick post...

Libra - am 19 weeks (w twins as every man and his dog knows) and I look like a porker. Definitely pregnant, but also pudgy in the middle. Friend patted my stomach and said "there's a bit of pudding covering the babies, isn't there"! Yes, OK, I can see that but keep it to yourself! So am clearly at the opposite end of the spectrum to you. I am long of leg but short of torso (5'4" in total) so just look like Humpty Dumpty. Not good. Of course, I would love to be longer and leaner (so much more elegant!!). Grass is greener, after all!

carciofi · 28/07/2010 13:22

ABO, I would buy Splendid and probably designer jeans if I were in the US. And labels like Theory, oh, if only I had half an hour in Bloomingdales!

Roary, ooooh, you can go to Lululemon, I love that store. I am sure you will be fine on the flight, your baby will probably sleep most of the way and it sounds like your dd is already a seasoned traveller.

I don't know why people feel it is ok to comment on people's weight. My dd looks older than she is as she is tall and has long hair. A woman (a stranger!) in the playground yesterday told me that she was stocky, she is actually very slim and I worry about her not eating but why comment either way!

This White co navy top has just arrived and really like it. Also got this Boden white top but not keen on the rest of the order so it's going back. I'm very tempted by these ballet flats.

blossoming · 28/07/2010 13:39

Ooh I hated it when people used to touch my bump. My bil was the worst. He is such a nob though. Once he said, do you mind if I have a feel (!!) so I said do you mind if I hit you across the face? Cue hours of telling me how strange I was.

I think you missed out on our Shred phase libra. lots of us shredding like mad before hols. I have even bought bikinis for mine, I must be insane!
I've loved it though. It's been a great alternative to the gym.
Where are you off to Cain and hf?

I'm having a lovely quiet day. Dc1 with mil. I've found a few outfits for baby in boden sale for hols and have wangled free delivery somehow!

carciofi · 28/07/2010 13:41

Blossoming, love the retort to your bil!
What do you think of the shoes? fingers are hovering over the Checkout button

carciofi · 28/07/2010 13:42

oops, not sure why that shows as a link.

roary · 28/07/2010 13:59

Carciofi and it comes up as carciofi's.com! I love lululemon and have extensive collection already. It's briliant - actually ABO you should see if they have it in Florida, it's all over the US now.

FritziGreenEyes · 28/07/2010 13:59

carciofi - Love the tops. Ballet flats will be great for autumn!

bunnymother - I am sure you look lovely and glowing. And libra too! That pudding remark is just so out of line. Same goes for stupid woman at the playground carciofi. Why do some people just say whatever gets into their heads? Or why do people always think they have to comment on your body when you are pregnant?

abo - Sometimes Gymboree have great stuff for kids. And I love Tea. Don't know if they have shops in Florida.

roary - You'll be fine with the DCs on the plane. One of my friends regularly travel to Japan with two DCs on her own and she says it is not a problem. Enjoy Scotland and Canada.

roma - Shoes are great. Have similar for work and feel comfortable all day. Doesn't make much sense to put on stilettos for work and ruin your feet.

The place where I had to go for work had a big end of line shoe sale at the hotel ballroom. Needless to say that I left with a bargainous pair of purple ballet flats . Was actually quite a nice way to spend the coffee break and great for bonding with my (female) authors.

MIL is here and has taken DD to the library as it is rainy outside today. And my Spanx arrived. Will try on tonight as feel too fat after lunch with DD and MIL. I even had a chocolate mint pancake for dessert .

blossoming · 28/07/2010 14:19

Good haul carciofi, and I like those pumps. Baby is really out of sorts after yesterday. Will head out for a long walk I think.

FritziGreenEyes · 28/07/2010 19:39

Where is Marsha? Maje boots in size FR40 are back in stock at NAP.

rufus101 · 28/07/2010 19:40

Roman What about this for a laptop bag?
I am quite taken with this one
Also found the holy grail of black leggings here in FatFace. Just the right thickness, quality and really black, black iykwim.
Also remember I ordered a derma roller online? Well I think it's really working. My dSis is convinced I've had Botox!

Zembo · 28/07/2010 19:55

Rufus the derma roller sounds interesting, I missed you ordering it, can you link please? I realised (for the first time) that my skin is looking a bit knackered when I saw my beautiful 16 and 18 year old nieces at the weekend. They have gorgeous dewy skin AND the most luscious thick, long, black hair [green]. Anyway I think I need to do something about my skin. Did you say you're a doctor?

Zembo · 28/07/2010 19:56

As in green with envy !

MarshaBrady · 28/07/2010 20:00

Fritzi you are a star!! Thank you

I have had another shoe failure with these M by Marc Jacobs. They have been and gone. I thought they would be luxurious caramel and seasonal but they were uninspiring tan and uncomfortable.

So ordered navy Vanessa Bruno. They should be here tomorrow. If they are pants I am getting the Maje ones!

Vin I'm sorry to hear about your P.
And sorry to hear your bad news Choo.

Bunny and Ltec sorry to hear about undone holidays (hope I've got that right is from memory)

NotYummy I like to be tall, am still looking for the right high heel after the purchase of the failed MJs.

(sorry have missed loads of posts but would be a mammoth summation)

traceybath · 28/07/2010 20:16

Zembo - you are gorgeous and I was marvelling at your amazing hair the other day on facebook. You know - your cake was good but your hair was fabulous

Right anyone a size 10 and after a red dress?

Romana - ooooh yes please link - I am beyond haggard.

We're going to a wedding on saturday en famille but its very child-friendly and dress code is from smart to casual. What to wear . . .

blossoming · 28/07/2010 20:21

I like the vanessa bruno's and the majes esp how they were styled. Suede boots a bit of a no go round here though.
Thanks for reminding me of Camper boots. Will check them out.
I had an impromptu mil visit earlier. Have just about recovered!

MarshaBrady · 28/07/2010 20:23

yes me too. Am not sure about VBs front bit might be funny...

(poor dhl woman might ask her to hang around while I try them on)

Love those Maje boots. I was looking for a pair just like that, (very like those Isabel Marant ones I lusted over) and settled for these The Maje ones don't come in my size anyway so I'll just have to be satisfied.
Zembo am a doctor, but not a dermatologist. Bloody should have been, would be right up my alley! I got the derma-roller here Was very sceptical, and only bought it, as my dSis had gotten one from there. It's not a pleasant sensation using it, but no pain no gain, as they say. Have to say I'm impressed. I know I have a tan at the moment, but instead of looking withered, look more glowy, and pores smaller. Definitely worth a punt!
Marsha was looking at those MJ shoes on Matches. Glad I didn't pursue. Love the idea of you getting the DHL woman to hang around, while you try on! Great idea!

hf128219 · 28/07/2010 21:26

Choo Dreadful news about your friend.

Bloss We are off to France (near Carcassonne), Spain (Barcelona) and then Belgium on the way home to see friends. A road trip!

God do I need a break. Sorry I know holidays should not be mentioned at the moment. Hope LTEC had a good interview.

Marsha Those MJ pumps look lovely, shame they weren't!
