Would a camel cape be entirely wise? Or a pair of houlihans a bit too avid?? Who cares!

Please join me ladies. Don't want to be too sad and lonely on a Friday night.......

Dolcee Great comment from the old lady - makes you think.

I am packing. Grrrrr! Clothes everywhere - I will take about 10 pairs of shoes and 10 dresses - not very good at the capsule wardrobe

It's also our 15th weddding anniversary today.

VerityBrulee · 29/07/2010 11:10

Yes that's tha cape! Saw it last night but now not so sure about it as it is jersey not wool and the piping seems a bit orangy to me.
Will nip into town on sat to see if they have it, otherwise I might take a chance and order it, but then run the risk of having to pay 20Euro or so to return it which I always find galling. Plus I already have a Jigsaw navy cape, but I really love the military look of the TS one. Thought I would wear it with khaki skinnies and ankle boots.

Bunny love your dd's silver shoes! DD has almost the same ones, with a buckle and wears them with white or pale pink ankle socks - soo cute. She has similar shoes in red, Start rite Louisa, for winter with tights. The only thing ds1(12) and I ever argue over is shoes, God, boys shoes are hideous, urgh. We compromise on Converse and trainers which are only supposed to be worn for sports! When he started to walk we went all across town to this specialist shoe shop which does special orders of Start Rite and got him the most adorable red leather t bars. I have them in a box frame by my bed, framed all their first shoes

MM hope your dd isn't too poorly with chicken pox, ds1 had it really severely, but ds2 and dd only had a few spots! Can't open your ebay links but bet they are fab, love an ebay bargain

Glad the interview went well Cakey

Very autumnal here today too

VerityBrulee · 29/07/2010 11:15

HF happy anniversary and enjoy your well deserved holiday. Any gossip before you go? Was just thinking the other day I'd love one of your cryptic sleb gossip threads

Dolcee it's good to be reminded of how lucky we all are, easy to forget in the midst of everyday chaos

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 11:15

These are the Cain jeans Fritzi. I've just ordered some and these too. I am going to get these and these from La Redoute now too.

I also liked these though maybe taking the Houli rip off a bit too far and hipsters do nothing for my growing muffin top.

I think La Redoute is always worth a look - two of my favourite winter dresses are from there - but they have some tut too. Look at this outfit?!

I've been looking at boots and shoes while dd is napping. Well, looking with one eye. I took a big kick in one eye which has left me with a red mark on my eyeball. I will not wish summer away but I am already worrying about winter shoes. Boots I love and am going to buy two new pairs this winter - a short pair and a long pair. But I've not settled the holy grail of what to wear with non-skinnies/leggings. I bought some brogues last year and I like them but they're really not me. Also saw a photo of us in Paris where I wore them with Marthas and a pea coat and I look like I have a massive hip/bum area which I don't at all.

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 11:18

Khaki cape here Verity.

hf128219 · 29/07/2010 11:21

MM Loving those tweed cropped numbers

Hope dd gets better soon. It can be a grim illness.

I am hankering after some tartan. Seriously.

Verity No goss from me I'm afraid!

VerityBrulee · 29/07/2010 11:25

Oooh, MM, I like that cape! I can't do black, wonder if khaki would suit me. It goes well with creams and peachy, dusty pinks which I wear a lot. Thanks for the link My investigate La Redoute.

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 11:25

I've seen some really foul outfits while browsing on line today. Mainly in Next.

I understand your tartan thing hf - I have a very old long blue tartan kilt I love try on a few times every winter and never wear.

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 11:27

I've mentioned it before Verity but Zara did a really nice camel one last year. I was going to buy it but had just bought a black one and it had a leather trim I wasn't 100% keen on. I saw one sell on Ebay for c£100 the other day. Worth a look though.

VerityBrulee · 29/07/2010 11:27

Aww, HF I was relying on you I'll have to read the DM instead I suppose.

PlumSykes · 29/07/2010 11:41

Morning!

Well, I massively misread the situtation with my friend-she of the cryptic texts. I took it to mean that she was having husband/family issues, but it turturns out teh problem is ME! She had convinced herself that I had been taking to another friend about her behind her back, and had been exchanging loaded glances with said friend when we are all together-which is utterly not true. Oh dear, was so awful. She was so cross, and I was so upset. What made it worse was that I rocked up with magazines for her girls, Grazia for her and pastries for us all to share, and looked like a flash twat with no compassion.

It is, I think, okay now, and am meeting her for lunch in a bit with just the babies. Am yet to pick outfit to stike just the right note, so will go upstairs now and pop back later.

Also have to retun the BLODDY BLOODY BLOODY school shoes, hope they have DD's size in a non-scuffed pair.

Love the TS cape, btw, but on someone far taller than me. I love capes, in general, but look far too much like Nerys Hughes in The District Nurse in them myself.

traceybath · 29/07/2010 11:42

MM - piriton is good for relieving the itching of chicken pox and helps them sleep better too.

Love that khaki cape but will wait and see if they do a petite version.

HF - I'm also fancying tartan - a mini kilt perhaps?

Did anyone get the asos magazine - lovely shoeboots in there called tamara in camel and black but not on the site yet.

I fancy some black lace up boots too as well as biker style for clumping round in everyday.

traceybath · 29/07/2010 11:44

Plum - nightmare re. your friend - is she quite high-maintenance?

But did laugh at nerys

rufus101 · 29/07/2010 11:50

Love those Diesel boots Fritzi. I had a Diesel pair in exact same colour in almost same style 4 A/W ago, but with a wedge heel. They went with absolutely everything!
Glad interview went well LTEC. Any horrible flashback moments? I always get those after interviews.."Aargh! Why did I say that? Should have said....." Hate that feeling, although I think half the time people don't really listen exactly to what you say and concentrate more on how you say it. If you sound as if you know what you're talking about it's half the battle.

traceybath · 29/07/2010 11:54

Dolcee - I bought a long duvet coat from timberland last year. Its very light and fairly slim fitting and was a lot lot cheaper than moncler.

Their xs would be good for you I think.

LOL at your DH and the white company dress - men just don't get it really do they.

Am sure Hells should be back by now looking bronzed and even more glam than usual.

hf128219 · 29/07/2010 11:57

Tracey Yes, a mini kilt indeed. Boots, blouse kind of look.

Plum Good luck with lunch.

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 12:01

Thanks for piriton tip Tracey. It seems quite mild atm thankfully.

notyummy · 29/07/2010 12:44

Plum - She sounds slightly hard work, although obviously I don't know the full context! Hope the lunch goes ok.

MM - Sorry about the chickenpox! In some ways getting it out the way when are they are little can be a good thing - I was always told it got worse the older they are? I could be wrong though...

Well, just returned from the hairdresser. I have a fringe!! I am pleased. It's a kind a sweepy/introduction to a fringe, rather than a full-on one. I good intro for a nervous hair person like myself.

Wearing black maxi, art deco earrings and
these sandals which are lovely on. As I swept out of the hairdressers (sans make-up ladies, as I had jumped straight out of the shower after my run this morning and headed off into town...) I got a compliment from the workmen opposite! 'Morning gorgeous. You're looking lovely today.' Now, I thought, do I bridle at this potentially misogynistic and patronising comment - or do I beam and walk off well chuffed?!

It was the latter.

blossoming · 29/07/2010 12:53

Ahem, Nerys Hughes is related to me!!

Good luck with the packing hf. Sounds like a great trip. My sis is flying to Carcassonne next week. Thankfully a way away from Nice.
Hope your dad has some good results.

I normally start packing for my hols around now, I have one suitcase just for kitchen/first aid so I pack it when it's miserable outside (like it has been all month). Been busy all day already, Dh in London for 2 days, I'm home alone. Had got up, dressed, blow dried, breakfasted, shopped, made cupcakes, and was in swimming lessons by 9.30. 'sgonna be a long day!

Sorry to hear about the chicken pox mm, and the workmen. No wonder you're doing a mammoth OL browse! My dcs haven't had it yet, although it's been round dc1's class millions of times. I had it on hols when I was 11. Very miserable.

Glad the interview went well ltec. I must admit to never browsing their clothes, I was lucky that ollie linked to this dress. (Wearing it again today!) I've got 3 sofas from there though. Good deals in the sales.

Hope things get better with your friend plum. How awkward. I'm in Cardiff next Monday btw!

Great boots fritzi. I like the replay ones best. What I need is some seriously high boots/shoes, and some seriously walkable boots. No mid heights for me. Can someone link the moncler skinny puffa?

blossoming · 29/07/2010 12:59

Result notyummy!

I thought I saw some tartan on the Joules site, but it was tweed, sorry verity. However, these pumps were new in, and look nice I think.

blossoming · 29/07/2010 13:01

That would be hf looking for tartan, sorry.

mrsjuan · 29/07/2010 13:11

Hi,
vin so sorry to hear about your relationship - what an arse and what a time to do it . I am constantly amazed at how strong you are in the most horrible circumstances. Take care of yourself
bunny I hope I didn't seem insensitive by breezing in with my congratulations - I completely understand your caution and would be the same I'm sure. Am also quite envious that you are getting to buy such lovely shoes for your DD. P has only just, in the last couple of days started staggering a few steps so I don't think I'll be getting her proper shoes any time soon!
cake glad the interview went well - I missed what it was for - something fashiony and exciting?
mmhope DD feels better soon
nyfringe and outfit sounds lovely and the compliment sounds sincere so you were right to take the latter option!
plum what an awkward situation - sounds like you managed to diffuse it though - well done!

Like the cain trousers and fritzi's replay boots. Bit depressing to be thinking about AW clothes already but guess it's best to be prepared - I will be on my yearly fruitless search for the perfect boots soon

Have had my mum and aunt staying for a few days so have been busy cooking and entertaining. My aunt is quite an inspiration when it comes to clothes - she'll buy something and then alter it pretty much out of all recognition to get it just right for her - manages to completely change the style of trousers etc!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 29/07/2010 13:15

Afternoon all,

roary you will be fine with 2 kids travelling, nowadays you can stick the 2 yr old in front of his own tv with a permanent tv channel and the 15 week old will just sleep!

carfiofi if you are tempted by ballet flats someone else on this forum has linked to this site this site I am very jealous cos my wide size 8s always look like boats in ballerinas.

blossoming I am quite good about gym going (we have a creche so it's 1 hour of peace) but think will try the Shred post-baby as have seen a lot of comments about it.

fritzi how did the spanx-ing go? Is it comfortable? That ostrich feather dress sounds lovely - do you have a photo? Also if you are outside and it's been raining I would go for flats to minimise sinkage and ruining of shoes.

MM hope your DC feel better soon. Can't see the red boots but they sound fab and am liking the ASOS wedges as well (in grey).

HF congratulations on your anniversary, not being materialistic or anything but what did you get as a pressie?

Thank you for all your comments re:pregnancy bump and lol (in a sympathetic way) at notyummy at "tiddler" comment and bunny at pudding comment.

Ok I'm going to go against the grain and say actually I prefer the camel cape they are showing a/w10 Topshop rather than the navy version. I have the same problem as notyummy being a pearshape so need slimmer clothes on top.

I am not going to bore you with anymore handbag links but still looking for the perfect nappy bag and beyond (but keep coming back to Il Tutto, despite the linings)

blossoming · 29/07/2010 13:33

libra, I took my il tutto to the zoo the other day. It was quite heavy with all our stuff (sandwiches, flask etc). My mum kept trying to take it away from me, saying she would put it on the back of the buggy she was pushing. I convinced her the buggy would topple over. It really is too nice a bag to hand over to your mum!!
I will definitely use it as a overnight bag/airline tote in the future. The leather is lovely and it really does look stunning.
There. I do better PR for them, than I do for holidays in North Wales!!

hf, Happy Anniversary!
What do you get for 15 years? It's a long time. We're 7 years this year.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 29/07/2010 13:40

blossoming I am veering towards the [[http://www.iltutto.co.uk/Baby-Bags/Stella-Black/Detailed-product-flyer.html stella] at the moment but have just found the Wigmore in black at TK Maxx which should be big enough, I am slightly puzzled however:

general question - oushka didn't appear to do the Wigmore in black so how come TK Maxx have it in black?
