As the old one is nearly full!

All & any vaping chat welcome.

No question is too daft to ask. We've all been there at the start of vaping in the minefield that it is.

Only rule is: No Willy Waving!!

48 hours fag free. Had a couple of wobbly moments today but vaped my way through. Have rediscovered my sense of smell - and weirdly my hair feels cleaner, what's that all about?!

pinkrocker · 02/03/2015 21:21

I had a "draw" on a real fag on Saturday night, just to see what it was like, what I'd been missing.
Nowt.
It was vile and tasted like shit!
Happy to continue vaping!!

crispandfruity · 03/03/2015 07:06

60 hours now. Am starting to feel pretty good. Am on a coffee flavoured juice at the moment. It's nice. By the end of Thursday my starter kit will have paid for itself!

Allergictoironing · 03/03/2015 07:25

Crisp once the kit is all paid for, for every packet of fags you don't buy put the money away somewhere preferably in cash. Watching it mount up is a great incentive to stay off the stinkies and you can treat yourself to something nice when you have enough Smile

gnarlyoldoak · 03/03/2015 09:06

Hello all, ready to take the leap into vaping (eeeeeek) - can anyone recommend a good e cig? I have one but it's crap/barely produces any vape, so want something I can really have a satisfying huff on without bursting capillaries. Something I can buy online...
Thank you!

gnarlyoldoak · 03/03/2015 16:14

.

gnarlyoldoak · 03/03/2015 16:16

Scrap the above - found a local vape shop who were very knowledgable and helpful. All set up with some delicious caramel tinged tobacco flavour and a power-adjustable vaporiser. Fingers crossed I can quit successfully now!

magimedi · 03/03/2015 16:44

Great news, gnarly - local shops can be a bit pricier than buying on line, but the help they give is worth it.

Most of us who have quit dual fuelled for a while before moving over 100% to vaping. It took me 2 weeks before I was a dedicated vaper.

Excellent gnarly - a decent local vape shop is invaluable Smile.

Little tricks that you may find helpful:

  • For every pack of fags you don't buy, put the cash in a jar & watch it mount up. Once there's plenty in there, treat yourself to something.
  • Rather than emulating smoking by vaping solidly for 5-10 minutes then a big gap in between, little & often is the rule with e-cigs
  • much longer but slower draws than for fags
  • If you're "dual fuelling" (some fags and some vaping) then put the stinkies into a room you never normally go in, and keep the e-cig by you all the time

Try loads of different flavours; over time you palate is likely to change away from tobacco flavours so keep going back to the vape shop & try out different ones.

crispandfruity · 03/03/2015 17:42

I haven't smoked over 60 stinkies now by my reckoning. Today I could really smell people who smoke, and I didn't like it. It smelt really horrible.

magimedi · 03/03/2015 17:44

Well done, crisp.

Know what you mean about the smell - when I gave up going cold turkey I still liked the smell. Now I vape (& still get nicotine) I loathe it.

All you just quitted peeps - do remember to drink plenty of water - vaping can be quite drying, for some reason.

I've noticed 'the thirst ' thanks for the water tip! This is the longest I've been stinky free for 3 years!!! I think in real life I've become a vape bore!

Excellent progress crisp, well done!

Good luck gnarly - is your caramel tobacco called RY4? That's my daily vape Smile

MeganChips · 03/03/2015 19:43

Welcome new vapers!

Well, I have a new coil for the nautilus and it's tons better, they must have been duds before. I'm going to go back and get a pack of them.

I visited the Brighton vape shop at the weekend and have a nice new selection of juices, I'm loving the pear drops. I didn't get chance to go upstairs though, I was late meeting a friend but I'll have a look when I go back.

8 weeks for me now Smile

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 03/03/2015 20:42

Well done Megan, that's brilliant! I'm very curious about upstairs in the Brighton shop.

magimedi · 03/03/2015 22:34

8 weeks - Brilliant, Megan.

Upstairs at the vape shop is....................

I think you have to find out for yourself, Plenty.

Maybe a summer meet in Brighton??

I know I suggested Eastbourne, but several vape shops to vist in Briughton & lots of Wine holes to linger in, seafront & fish 'n' chips. What's not to like?

PS And the rudest card shop I have ever seen - with a back section that advises you not to go in if you are easily offended!!

Found this card, for my dearest friend there ........

Yes to a summer meet in Brighton!

gnarlyoldoak · 04/03/2015 08:20

Thanks for the tips! I have a packet of tobacco open so I'm finishing that off then not buying any more. I don't have the will power to bin it!

magimedi · 04/03/2015 08:41

It's not a bad thing to not bin it - you won't have the urge to run to the shop!

Anyhow, it will dry out soon! After about 10 days of just vaping I tried a roll up. After 2 puffs I was spitting, rushing for water & had to clean my teeth for about 10 mins to get away the taste.

Hello fellow vapers! I'm loving the experience and have no intention of giving up either. I haven't smoked stinkies for 3 months, I just stopped after a bout of flu, and on the one occasion someone offered me a puff it was so vile that I have no intention of going back.

I'm still a bit of a novice but have definitely noticed the difference in quality by moving over to better quality kit - it still costs a fraction of what my 30 a day habit used to! "Bottom fillers" (if you'll pardon the expression) seems to make for a much nicer vape too. Got a Totally Wicked starter unit right now. I also like to create "mixtures" and am currently enjoying a low nicotine premium baccy mixed with Very Berry liquid.

That Brighton shop is pretty local too. Must pop in next week! However, what I am wondering is what the advantages are in upping my game, so far as kit is concerned. I could certainly do with more battery units/battery life but will the experience be hugely improved by spending more? And what would be a good mid-priced piece of vaping kit?

If you're close to the Brighton shop, why not drop in & have a try of the different types of kit they have there? From what others have said, they are very knowledgeable & helpful there. TW kit tends to be rather expensive for what it is, so you're unlikely to be paying any more despite the "bricks & mortar" premium.

Variable voltage and/or wattage batteries let you adjust the power to suit your personal tastes and the variations between different liquids, and of course the differences between tanks/atomisers. A tank/atomiser change can make a major difference to the vaping experience, especially when upgrading from a very basic one Smile

crispandfruity · 04/03/2015 20:31

Gosh today has been HARD! I've had a nose bleed, weird puffy eyes, my gums hurt. It's like my body is telling my brain HAVE A FAG AND YOU'LL GET BETTER!!! I've resisted though. I've been to the smoke shop and bought more fruity juice. I think I'm at the nadir and that if I can get through this bit I'll crack it. It's not nicotine withdrawal, it's like my body is cleaning itself. And it's a painful process.

crispandfruity · 04/03/2015 20:33

Anyway, I'm at 96 hours and I haven't smoked at least 80 stinkies.
