As the old one is nearly full!

All & any vaping chat welcome.

No question is too daft to ask. We've all been there at the start of vaping in the minefield that it is.

Only rule is: No Willy Waving!!

Basically, unscrew the mouthpiece and pull out the silicone cap from the top of the centre post. Trim a tiny sliver off the base of it then reassemble.

I posted in Aibu and was directed over here
Waves at everyone.
I gave up smoking last year. Used patches and mouth spray.
I was totally miserable, didn't feel any better at all (although I stopped coughing).
Started smoking again.
My friend is really into vaping. I'm just worried that I will be swapping one addiction with another and maybe doing it more as I can vape inside.
I know some of you have used vaping and then stopped altogether, Was this easier than say patches?
I really need to stop smoking. The cost is one factor but I have 2 children and am worried about my healthSad

pinkrocker · 28/02/2015 08:15

Thank you, I'll have a try!
BTW, these latest mouthpieces seem to make my tongue and lips first tingle and then feel numb and rough (not sore). I'm gonna have to invest in that mini-nautilus aren't I...

starsandunicorns · 28/02/2015 08:40

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/02/2015 08:48

Are they spitting juice into your mouth? Or are you using a new flavour or make of eliquid?

You don't have to buy posh kit. I'm still on GS-H2's after well over a year. I find them hassle-free and they're really cheap.

pinkrocker · 28/02/2015 08:55

No, not spitting, and the same 'Polar Bear' aa I've had for months from e-cig wizard! Its odd!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/02/2015 09:06

Hi benefoots, welcome to the thread. You're not swapping one addiction for another - it's the same addiction to nicotine - but in a much less harmful form (at least 95% less harmful), basically because you're not burning anything.

Most people find they get on best with vaping if they use it little-and-often, at least to start with and this can make it feel like you're using it more. This is because you don't get a big sharp 'hit' like you do with a tobacco cigarette (see picture from here).

This is also part of the reason many people find they can stop vaping easier than they could stop smoking. The other reasons are that you can cut down the nicotine a tiny bit at a time and also there are other addictive chemicals in lit tobacco which are not present in ecigs.

Personally I'm not that bothered about giving up nicotine. I seem to function better on it, I'm only spending £2-3 / week and, on its own, it's no more harmful than caffeine Smile

Thank you for your replies.
There is a vape shop near me.
Think I will go today and take the plunge. Smile

Corygal · 28/02/2015 22:38

Where in hell can I buy vaping liquid? I live in Balham, London and want one with loads of nicotine in it.

Allergictoironing · 01/03/2015 08:02

Corygal there are plenty of good liquids available on line if you don't have a local vape shop, ranging from cheap & cheerful to expensive boutique flavours & all stages between.

Not sure what you class as "loads of nicotine"? I was on 30 a day when I smoked, and am happy with 1.8% liquid; the maximum that is on sale as a pre-made liquid in the UK as far as I know is 2.4%.

If you're OK with 1.8% (18mg) liquid and have then you can't really go wrong with LiQuid - £1 a bottle UK made very much in the "cheap & cheerful" range but nothing wrong with it at all - I'm currently on the Banana from there & very happy with it.

A couple of decent mid-range makes are Vapouriz and SmartCigs.

If you're into trying new flavours try Triphammer, Vaping King, Alchemist's Cupboard.... I'm sure some others will chip in with good makes or you could have a hunt around some of the juice related threads here

stinkingbishop · 01/03/2015 08:08

Hello vapers. I am going to take the plunge. Oh yes.

What would you recommend I buy? Am getting bamboozled by all the different ones available. And I notice some of you saying the starter kits are a bit crappy.

Does the unit make any real difference or is it more about the liquid? On that note, don't have a sweet tooth, so more into tobacco/spice/herby flavours.

Thank you x

Allergictoironing · 01/03/2015 08:37

Welcome stinkingbishop. I'm not surprised you're getting a bit confused, there's loads of choice out there & little independent advice for new vapers.

Firstly, not all starter kits are equal! There's probably no point in getting a "cig-a-like" - the kind that look a bit like a real ciggie & use disposable cartridges; the vaping experience is pants and they cost significantly more to run.

When you get to the tank units there's also a wide variety of quality and value for money out there. Good starter kits are absolutely fine, and make sure you have everything you need to get going as they contain battery, tank(s), charger & often liquids. Things to look out for are battery size (depending on how many fags you smoke, at least 900mAh or bigger capacity), whether you get spare tanks or coils with the kit, and whether liquid is included. You should be paying no more than around £20 for a decent quality starter kit with a good sized battery. You also want to make sure you're ordering from a company that offers on line or telephone support.

Ideally you should go to a decent local vape shop if you have such a thing locally - prices may be a bit higher due to them having to pay the premium of the high street bricks and mortar, but the advice can be invaluable!

Oops forgot to answer the question about liquids. To a very large degree it IS all about the liquid; no kit will make a crappy liquid taste great or vice versa. On the other hand, a really decent atomiser can make quite a difference.

It's probably not worth forking out for a really good tank until you're sure vaping is for you, but definitely worth having decent liquids from the start otherwise you'll never get to that stage! Shock

stinkingbishop · 01/03/2015 09:11

OK, have a shop nearby so this will be tomorrow's mission Smile

magimedi · 01/03/2015 10:20

If you like tobacco, may I recommend 'The Sherlock' from ecigwazrd :

www.ecigwizard.com/e-liquid/wizmix/the-sherlock.html

I've been vaping for well over 2 years & used to smoke Gold Vag rollies. This is the liquid I've used all the time.

I don't like sweet thing either.

Mind you, have very recently been mixing a bit of rhubarb & custard with my sherlock, as an after dinner vape.

Hello, I've vaped on and off for a couple of years with the cigalikes. Yesterday I went to a shop and got myself kitted up with an evod set I am 24 hours fag free! I'm on a strawberry liquid at the moment which is really nice. I was a 30 a day smoker, I'm amazed at how painless a whole day fag free has been.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 01/03/2015 15:47

Well done crisp Flowers and welcome to the thread!

I get lots of eliquid from Premier, it's £2 for 10ml, they do up to 24mg and they have some clearance offers on at the moment. It's Hangsen, which is a bit like the Tesco of eliquid - mass produced, not posh but perfectly acceptable.

Glittery7 · 01/03/2015 21:47

Hi, wondered if anyone loves vaping so much they have no intention of weaning themselves off it? Would it be so bad? Blush

Glittery - am two and a half years in to vaping & have no thought of quitting.

I need nicotine - it helps me to function, without it I get depression & anxiety.

OP posts:
PlentyOfPubeGardens · 02/03/2015 08:18

I have no more intention of quitting vaping than I have of quitting coffee Smile Like magi I find I function lots better with a bit of nicotine, it's great to be rid of the associated harms from smoking.

Allergictoironing · 02/03/2015 08:44

I see no need at all to quit vaping and currently have no intention of doing so. As Plenty says, we've got rid of just about all the harmful effects of smoking so why not carry on?
