tarantula · 10/02/2006 16:39

I'm from just outside Dublin originally and as the world and its mother seem to fly to Ireland for Christmas it is necessary to get in early. Have jsut spoken to dp and he's sorted things with dss and BM so we're going to be here for Xmas and go home in the new year for dd's birthday so thats that sorted. Jsut ahve to keep an eye out for cheap flights now for next Jan

Flippin' heck

This is unlike him isn't it?? About bloody time though IMO You deserve it after all you do and go through for him and his children

I agree with FrayedKnot - flue can last a fortnight....

NotActuallyAMum · 13/02/2006 10:33

Flue? Flue????

Don't believe I put that!!!

tarantula · 13/02/2006 10:40

oh dear Squirrel poor you. Take it easy and hopefully you'll be feeling better by Thursday. Gald to hear dp is taking care of you.

We've had a great weekend. dss came round minus coat and bike helmet but with a puncture and unwelcome visitors in his hair AAAAARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH. Aint impressed with dp not making him bring his helmet!!! his coat oth is def dss's responsibility. At 14 hes old enough IMO to remember himself. Apart from all that tho it wasnt too bad mind .

Squirrel3 · 13/02/2006 10:49

I've been reading some of the threads in health, and a lot of them are saying that they have had it for three weeks and they are still ill with it!!!!

This flu might last a month!!!!!

I think it puts a dampener on my plans for Valentines night though!

Still at least I'm not at work, it all kicked off on Friday, I walked in to find a particularly unsavoury student shouting and looking as if he was going to hit one of the tutors, I saw red and went up to this bloke and told him that his "behaviour was totally unacceptable, and I would not have that kind of behaviour in (get this) my training room and I would not tolerate him talking to my staff in that manner", and I asked him to leave. He went very sheepish, (like a small child that had just had the telling off of a life time) apologized and left quietly with no fuss!!!!

Now I am referred to as 'The Bouncer"!

OP posts:
Squirrel3 · 13/02/2006 10:53

Tarantula, dsd daughter gets them, it gets on my nerves when BM blames them on us!!! I have never had them in my life my hair is too fine and soft, they can't hold on to it (so I was told by the nit nurse) Its far more likely that she gets them from school. Still any excuse to have a go at us eh?

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 13/02/2006 10:58

tarantula glad you had a good weekend despite everything We did too, everything went as planned for a change - usually there's something that goes tits up!!

squirrel LOL at Bouncer What a shame your valentines day will be ruined, and it's your anniversay too, so for you

tarantula · 13/02/2006 11:02

Lol good on you Squirrel Def Unceptable behaviour that. well done for sorting him out.

Am off home now. See you all tomorrow.

Squirrel3 · 13/02/2006 11:16

Talk to you tomorrow tarantula, I'm going to go back to bed for a couple of hours, was awake most of the night unable to breathe properly.

Talk later!

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 13/02/2006 11:18

tarantula are there any jobs going at your place??

Squirrel hope you manage to get some sleep

workingmumnhs · 13/02/2006 18:07

Oh dear, everyone is feeling sick.

I hope I get it. Then I couldn't go to work for a few days. COOL.

Seriously, you should all drink plently of fluids and stay in bed.
I'll sing you all to sleep

"A gently breeze, oe'r hushabye mountain,
softly blows oe'r Lullaby bay.
It fills the sails of boats that waiting
Waiting to sail your troubles away.............."

DD had a dry nappy last night and I am really pleased, We'll see how she goes tonight. MIL has probably stuffed her full of juice all day so I have no hope. (She is convinced that if she doesn't drink every hour on the hour then she will become dehydrated.)

Hope you all get better soon
Lots of love

NotActuallyAMum · 14/02/2006 08:28

Thank you workingmum

Happy Valentines Day to everyone from me too I've had a lovely card and a gorgeous little bear with a t-shirt on saying I Love You

How is everyone?

Squirrel, hope you're feeling better - although from what I've heard of this bug I think it'll be with you for a good few days yet

Squirrel3 · 14/02/2006 08:33

Hello NAAM, yes, I'm still feeling ill, ds has come down with it and he was up all night, dp woke up sneezing this morning so it looks like he has got it coming too!!!

I am still determined to have a nice valentines day though, the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes were a dozen red roses!

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 14/02/2006 08:52

Good for you Squirrel

The flowers sound lovely I'm hoping my DP will have some waiting when I get home...

We set the table last night for dinner, it looks lovely. We hardly ever sit at the table for dinner, it's surprising what a few cheap candles can do

bm3sm2 · 14/02/2006 08:57

Hi everyone, sorry to hear you are ill Squirrel. Hate to say it but it does last and last, I am entering my third week. For the first week I really felt like getting off to bed (couldn't of course cos I'm a mum ) then had a really good day thought it had gone then two days of feeling crap then another 3 feeling great, THEN.... Saturday/Sunday/Monday back to square one with it (probably worse I would say) Really is a bad one, everyone seems to be suffering in the same way. Take care squirrel and get to bed if you can.

Nothing for Valentines Day (as I suspected we don't "do" valentines day!) but did get a lovely snuggle in bed this morning before we had to get up and madness descended.

NotActuallyAMum · 14/02/2006 09:06

lol at madness descended bm3sm2

Agree, Squirrel you should be in bed if you can. Gets sooooo boring though doesn't it lying in bed on your own!! This bug really is nasty - hope I don't get it...I knew it was bad when my sisters ds2 got it and missed a football match nothing keeps him from his football
