Hello Lea

Boooooo Loopy! There must be another female somewhere who loves football....don't know if I'd want to go to watch Arsenal tho

tarantula · 18/01/2006 08:24

Hello everyone. Good result on the football Loopy. Glad to hear Lea is a bit better Squirrel. Sorry I didnt see your message earlier. Its still manic here at work and I had a massive headache yesterday too which didnt help. think I must have given myself concussion by banging my head onthe chimney while lighting the fire Monday night. How daft can you get????

Hopefully I'll get on to chat later.

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 08:36

Hope your head is feeling better. How on earth did you manage that?!?

Its not fair that they are expecting you to work when spending time on here would be very therapeutic and sooth your poor head, therefore increasing your ability to work more efficiently so it should be compulsory for you to spend at least half of your working day on here!

OP posts:
tarantula · 18/01/2006 08:44

lol I'll put that one to my boss tho I'm not sure he'll agree. Not sure how I managed it really. I leaned over to check that the fire had taken hold and forgot to bend down at the same time to smacked into the chimney. Felt so stupid .

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 08:44

Ouch!!!!!

Morning all

Your poor head tarantula! Wish I had a real fire We had one when we were all kids, used to wrap jacket spuds in foil and put them underneath the fire to cook - mmmmmmm YUMMY!

How is everyone?

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 09:40

I am well thank you, just made three different types of spag bol for tea this evening, put the timer on my bread maker (mmmmmm parmesan and sun dried tomato bread) it will start to cook it while I am out and it should be ready when I get in. All I have to do when I get in from work later is heat up the spag bol and do pasta!

P.S three different types because DS is a veggie so I had to make his with Quorn mince, Dp and I like ours with vegetables in it and the step kids will not eat it with veggies in it!!!!

I must be mad!!!!!

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 18/01/2006 10:29

Yes you must be mad! I wouldn't cook 2 different meals let alone 3!! But I suppose it's just 1 really with 2 variations which is not so bad as doing 3 completely different things

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 10:42

Well, we all knew I was mad, it just confirms it!!

Actually I am very proud to be called mad!!

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 10:44

BTW, dis you like the way we dealt with DSS's sheets? Here

OP posts:
Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 10:44

I mean did

OP posts:
tarantula · 18/01/2006 10:57

am not ed at all at making 3 meals. I do that sometimes tho quite often its 2 for the freezer and 1 for eating. I'll make spaj bol, baked beans and stew at the same time cos they all start in a similar way.

Have to say I do make meals and if dd and dss dont like the veggies or whatever then its up to them to pick them out. Dss does that with mushrooms and courgettes.

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 11:05

DP tells me I am mad for making the stepkids one without veg but it winds me up no end to have them look at it with upturned noses and it gives them a good excuse to not eat it. I don't mind making spag bol without for them, its one of the meals that they say is 'better than Mum makes', so that may be another reason why I do it. Daft I know, but how often does that happen?

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 18/01/2006 11:31

lol at the sheets Squirrel

"Better than mum makes" - yes that would be wonderful to hear, worth cooking a special meal for

I'd love to make more of everything and freeze some but there's never enough room in the freezer, despite it being nearly as tall as me, because of all the stuff DPs gran gives him! I know I shouldn't grumble but if she's going to send things I wish it was something we would actually eat - must ask DP to drop subtle hints, like "we had xxx for tea last night and really enjoyed it"

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 11:33

Who would have thought that when I first found mumsnet I was miserable and desperate, dp and I were on the verge of splitting up because I couldn't cope being a stepmum. I couldn't see any other way out.

I can't thank you enough Mumnet you saved my relationship, my stepkids from another split and my sanity, Thank you!

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 18/01/2006 11:52

I'll certainly second that Squirrel!!

Before I found this site, I was convinced that I was the only person in the world who felt pangs of jealousy towards dsd/anger towards BM/didn't like the way dsd spoke to DP/struggled to cope with life in general etc. etc. etc.

So a big thank you from me too

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 14:50

I am so naughty! I am at work but couldn't resist doing another practice exam for the theory test and I got 100%!!

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 18/01/2006 15:07

Don't be Squirrel, you've worked really hard at this, you deserve it

I'm sure you'll pass with flying colours

Squirrel3 · 18/01/2006 15:16

Thanks NAAM, don't know why I am so nervous, I do exams all the time I don't know what makes this one different.

Think its the fact that both kids have passed now and its 'kind of' added pressure.

I'm not letting anybody know when my actual driving test is because of it. The first anyone is going to know is when I tell them that I've passed! (and of course going to tell everyone that I passed first time!)

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 18/01/2006 16:02

Don't blame you, I did that when I took my test - didn't tell a soul. Afterwards when I passed my Dad said he had seen the postcard (as it was then) giving me the date but had left it on the doormat with the rest of the post because he guessed I didn't want anyone to know

tarantula · 18/01/2006 16:50

I know you'll be grand Squirrel. Jsut make sure you wear your big pants and youll pass with flying colours.
Well I'm off home now. Just got 1 problem solved and another crops up. Work is so ARSE atm.

tarantula · 19/01/2006 11:59
