Been racing around the town centre to try to get some passport photographs done, all of the photo booths have been blooming vandalised, I am not happy

And yesterday evening my electricity fuse board blew up!!! Had to call an emergency electrician. who arrived 2 hours later and then he told me that the main fuse had practically exploded, it had melted the surrounding plastic and we need a whole new consumer unit and I have got to wait until tomorrow for them to get one!!!

He did make an emergency repair, no lights and no cooker but the sockets work. So I was pleased about that, but when they put in the new consumer unit they have to check every socket, light fitting etc in the house, its going to take hours and I have my theory test in the morning so they are doing it in the afternoon, which means that I won't be able to come on here tomorrow and (I didn't want to tell you all this today) tomorrow may be my last day on here because I start a new job on Monday and I don't know if I'll be able to get on

(The new job is why I need the photographs done BTW.)

You CAN'T leave us, we won't let you!!

Haven't you got your home computer any more?

tarantula · 19/01/2006 13:07

Blimey squirrel. If they dont let you onto Mumsnet in your new job I'll have to hack into their system and change their settings Congrats on the new job btw. Hope its a good one and pays really well. Did you get your photos i the end? Good luck withthe theory test tomorrow tho I know you'll fly (or even leap) thro it.

the fuse box blowing up sounds awful! Hope it sint costing too mcuh to get it sorted.

NAAM as youve had a busy mornign surely you are allowed to have a relaxing afternoon on MN no?

NotActuallyAMum · 19/01/2006 13:09

tarantula I don't about your area but there are lots of bugs going around here

You could always sedate your 2 year-old so that you can have some peace

NotActuallyAMum · 19/01/2006 13:10

Yes I think I should be allowed a quiet afternoon too - think I'll just have one anyway and skive on here

Squirrel3 · 19/01/2006 13:15

I've got my home pc, so I'll be able to post in the evenings (if I get time) so I am not 'leaving' you completely.

You can't get rid of me that easily!

Thank you Tarantula, I will try to get on to let you know how the test goes (depends on the electrician), don't know how much it will cost, I'll probably need the money from the new job (IT trainer) to pay for it!

NAAM put your feet up and relax on here this afternoon.

Hope you enjoy your new job good luck for that too

NotActuallyAMum · 19/01/2006 13:21

Squirrel3 · 19/01/2006 13:22

Thank you again NAAM

Just been looking for ideas for a present for DPs birthday, I'm really struggling. Don't want to spend lots because taking him and dsd out for the day and our meal/hotel is going to cost quite a bit. Found a couple of sites which said "you're bound to find a present on here" but I didn't!! He's got more than enough after shave and hasn't really got a hobby (apart from me )

Squirrel3 · 19/01/2006 14:08

Buy some really nice underwear for yourself and give him a sexy birthday treat!

OP posts:
LooptheLoop · 19/01/2006 14:12

How about some home made vouchers - for our wedding anniversary (paper) I made up "promise vouchers" for DH - one for each month. Anything from complete control of the TV remote for a night, to a massage or fantasy of his choice. Whatever you think he'd enjoy!

If you're his hobby - how about gift wrapping yourself?

Squirrel - congratulations on the job. Hope it goes really well - BUT WE WANT YOU HERE AS WELL!

Squirrel3 · 19/01/2006 14:41

Good idea from loopy.

Thank you Loopy, I'll try to get on here when I can.

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 19/01/2006 14:43

That's a good idea Loopy about the "vouchers" - costs nothing and I'm sure I can think of something he'd want to do

Squirrel that's a good one too, wouldn't cost lots and I could get changed into them when we check into the hotel. Don't want to wait until we go to bed because we'll probably both be too drunk to care by then

So I've got 5 weeks to lose enough weight to look nice in sexy undies, erm not long enough! Think 5 months would be more like it!! No seriously I will get some nice undies, DP really isn't at all bothered about the weight I've put on so I'm sure he'll appreciate it anyway. And I'm still being very good, not had any alcohol/chocolate/crisps or anything else that's "bad" for you since New Years Day. Still haven't been on the exercise bike tho, one step at a time eh?

LooptheLoop · 19/01/2006 15:10

LOL re the exercise bike! I agree - you don't want to over do it! The weight thing is something only women think about. With the right underwear, men seem to get tunnel vision and just see the fantasy (thank God!).

Hadn't seen Squirrel's post before I sent mine - great minds think alike hey! No comments about fools never differing please!

NotActuallyAMum · 19/01/2006 16:11

Loopy

Agree about the tunnel vision - and I'm glad too

Squirrel you must come on over the weekend and tell us that you passed your theory test. Note I said "tell us you passed" - cos I have confidence in you

Squirrel3 · 19/01/2006 16:22

Well, we'll see if I pass, I'll probably fail miserably and have to sufer the humiliation of admitting it on here, I wish I hadn't told anyone, there is no way I'm telling people when my actual driving test is.

My dp will grab hold of any fat he can find on me and when I protest and tell him not to, he says "But its you and I love you, I don't care if you have or haven't put any weight on it doesn't matter to me, its you, the person I love", he can be sweet sometimes.

Just wrapping DS's Sat Nav for his birthday tomorrow, his cake looks lovely, MMMMmmmmm!

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 19/01/2006 16:32

My DP is like that too Squirrel, he says he loves me, not the way I look, bless him

Hope you get your fuse box sorted out, at least you still have your telly

Squirrel3 · 20/01/2006 13:06

Just a quick message before the electrician gets here.....

I passed!!!! 35/35 on the questions.

65/75 on the hazard perception.

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 20/01/2006 13:20
