My DH is out tonight watching the game, I'm home praying England win tonight.
If England loose i know I will be in for a beating.

No one's safety should hinge on a footy result but men like this will find anything to equate with...she deserved it

But wouldn't be as quick with a male opponent that would smash them into next week

I think it’s so sad how many people say police the police won’t do anything unfortunately . Women’s aid or even 111 mental health they will do safeguarding and protect you

I was protected by the police.

Watchoutfortheslowaraf · 16/07/2026 19:16

Please protect your children and yourself from this monster and leave him and never go back

MyGPwearsShorts · 16/07/2026 19:30

I have RTFT so apologies if I miss something.

Please please please call Domestic Abuse Helpline or Live Fear Free if you're in Wales.

This is exactly why refuges are there.

My first words last night were "fuck. DV will be out of control tonight". Hazard of my job! Although I'm sure it would be the same for Argentinian women too.

I really hope you're OK.

I'm a refuge Support worker and if you just want to message me I will offer support in any way I can.

My stomach sunk reading your posts. Please get some help. 😞 I know it's easily said but it really is crucial you get out!

I'm here if you want me x

iwishihadaname · 16/07/2026 19:50

Hope ur safe with your sister and getting the help you need.

superspideysense · 16/07/2026 21:04

@Soxy2154are you ok?

Soxy2154 · 16/07/2026 21:37

Im safe, my kids are safe & my dog is safe. I left last night with a few bags and essentials. Im currently at my sisters and I am so grateful for her support.
I haven't done anything today in terms off reaching out for support but I will. Im never going back he's hit me for the last time and I'm determined to never go back. My son cuddled me tonight and said mummy is daddy going to hurt you tonight because he scares me when he does. It broke my heart as I always thought they were asleep when he decided to use me as a punch bag or a doll to rape. He tried phoning me today & was saying if I come home now he will forgive me. I couldn't help my self but tell him to fuc* off and to let him know I was going to block his number which I did.

well done and good luck with the next chapter of your life

Soxy2154 · 16/07/2026 21:42

Im scared and excited for the future at the same time.
Im sleeping on a couch and don't have a penny to my name but for the first time in years I feel safe.
I knew last week when I originally made this post I was going to leave him I just didn't know when or how soon.
He can't hit me, he can't rape me, he can't control me and for the first time in years the bastards lost control.

superspideysense · 16/07/2026 21:43

Well done OP. You’ll be exhausted as I expect your body has been in fight/flight mode for ages.

try to rest and then make a plan. You’ve got this! Call the police as soon as he tries contact.

edited silly typos

Greedybilly · 16/07/2026 22:00

Hats off to you OP - it's a terrifying thing to leave especially when you've been brainwashed by an abuser. He sounds like a nasty. violent c*nt.
When you've got your breath back please please call your local Women's Aid and the police.
They will help you - it's not going to be easy or fun but it's going to be so much better than staying with this abuser.
He will now want you back that's how it works but......He will not change so never kid yourself that he will. Good luck to u and massive admiration. X

Greedybilly · 16/07/2026 22:04

Also, when you can Google 'the freedom programme' it's a free online course about DV and how abusers work and will help you understand how very clever they are and that u are not 'silly ' for ending up in this situation.

Sadly, your children are often more aware than you think because the noise wakes them up and they keep very still and quiet to stay safe themselves by not drawing your attacker's attention to themselves.

I sometimes wonder if schools should teach kids to quietly call for the police if they overhear DV.

Get any and all marks from previous injuries photographed and call the police tomorrow.

The great thing is that you are out. Remember what your son overheard if you are ever tempted to believe that he's changed.

WonderingAndOverthinking · 16/07/2026 22:11

You will have so many ups and downs over the coming months but please keep what your little boy said to you at the forefront of your mind. You have done the best thing for them you could have ever done. Seek support as soon as you can and give your sister a huge hug for helping you out.

Keep safe, you are so brave 💐

dottiehens · 16/07/2026 22:12

Free from the abuser. Well done for being so brave and pls never look back. I wish you and your kids all the best. I am happy for you.

weddingbellaa · 16/07/2026 22:18

Oh op well done, you are amazing!

So so strong to do this, I admire you very much.

ThingsCouldBeEasier · 17/07/2026 00:17

Well done, OP, for getting yourself and your DC to safety. Please do contact Women's Aid and the police when you are able. You can do this and be, and stay free.

Heretohelp1111 · 17/07/2026 06:45

Have a look online and see if you can find your local domestic abuse charity. While women aid are great a more local service should be able to offer you face to face support and teaching, and help you with speaking to services who can make sure you have financial support, housing etc. They’ll also support you with speaking to the police if you want to.

Worldcuproadshow · 17/07/2026 18:43

Well done for getting out @Soxy2154 I've been thinking about you all week.

Please report him to the police, even if it's on the none emergency number 101 so at least they have a record of his violence. Even if you're unsure about pressing charges now, you'll protect yourself by alerting the police.

Elieza · 17/07/2026 19:14

well done for taking yourself and your kids to safety. don’t ever return no matter how nice he seems to have become.

And be aware that he will not like to lose his “whipping boy” (you) so he will try and get you back. Or i hate to say it…kill you.

If he kills you he will get full custody of your children. How do you think that will be for them? Awful.

So although youre knackered and it’s been a major change you've managed to do, and i can’t tell you enough how brave youve been, there are a couple more things to be done.

  1. Tell the police. they need to know. other women need to be protected too as he could try dating if he cannot have you. Your phone number can get a priority marking so they follow up if you try to call and get cut off. There may be evidence on other neighbours cameras of him throwing you out naked. so you have proof of his violence.

  2. Keep looking over your shoulder so to speak. ring doorbells and cameras everywhere. dont leave windows open that he could climb in.

Soxy2154 · 17/07/2026 20:51

Hi all, thankyou so much for the support it really does mean a lot.
Im still at my sisters currently but have spoken to the police today, they are coming to see me as soon as they are able too and have said they will likely apply for an injuction against my ex husband. I have also spoken to a solicitor who's said I'm entitled to legal aid because of DV and will be meeting her on Tuesday, she is going to try and get me back in my house and depending on the injuction him out. If that doesn't work I will phone the council and go homeless. I have also applied for benefits and waiting for someone to be allocated to my claim, this will be short term as I'm determined to go back into employment.
As for my EX HUSBAND I haven't had any contact from him as I blocked his number and any random numbers that phone me are blocked straight away to prevent him contacting me. He won't come to my sisters house as he is afraid of my BIL.
I feel very positive and absolutely loving the safety of him not being near me.

I laughed today, I actually belly laughed! I can't remember the last time I did that. My kids looked at me, they didn't say anything but I knew they were happy to see mummy happy.

That's lovely from a glimmer of happiness I hope you can build a better quality of life for yourself and the children.
Wishing you all the best.

Heretohelp1111 · 17/07/2026 21:22

The best update! Wishing you and your children so much healing and happiness. I would also recommend telling the children’s schools as soon as possible and they’ll be
able to offer the children some extra emotional support while you navigate the changes.

ThingsCouldBeEasier · 17/07/2026 22:25

What a wonderful update, OP!
