That's why Everton fans kept hold of these signs

(they were used at the Chelsea game)

Agree with all of this.

But re Haaland not going down. Of course, I am very grateful that he didn't and Gabriel was very foolish, but as far as I saw, Gabriel barely touched him, let alone head butted him, and so a man mountain like Haaland going down would have been so ridiculous that probably didn't even occur to him to go down.

for me, no matter how hard, he nutted an opposing player. He deserved a red for that and was lucky to get away with it.

It is the same for tall players like Vestergaard who is so tall that he is constantly getting yellow cards for elbowing players in the head - it is wrong, but what is a ref to do?

I quite like York.

I similarly feel the same for Rochdale and what fans of both clubs have gone through over the years.

Their league positions at the end of the season, whatever they are, form a good argument against play offs. No ill will towards the other teams who will be in the National League play offs, but even the possibility of not going upon with 105 or 107 points is plain wrong.

Thing is all it does is encourage players to play act even more, because Gabriel absolutely should have been sent off, the fact he didn’t because Haaland didn’t throw himself to the floor means in future players will go down to ensure the correct decision is arrived at.

I feel a bit sorry for Rosenior - he was cutting his teeth at Strasbourg, doing a decent job and showing promise, but was clearly not ready for Chelsea. He probably couldn't say no when they came calling but the timing wasn't right. I hope it won't set back his managerial career, especially as a young, English, black manager. At least he should get a hefty payout, being only three months into a 4.5 year contract!

Sky have just said that there was a break clause in his contract, so he won't be getting as much everyone thought.

Just popping on to say little old Lincoln. We won the league. Will we make 100 points tomorrow? Looking forward to some different away days in the Championship ❤️⚽️

Congratulations to the Imps! I am also pleased to see Cardiff going back up.

Yes, my SIL is not happy.

I was absolutely thrilled! And so pleased for Elliot Anderson to score given the tragic loss of his mum. Only swapped Gibbs White into my FPL last night so for the first time in a while I’m doing well.
There’s still the ongoing trauma of watching Newcastle later to contend with though so I’m not going to gloat or that’ll come back to bite me! I’ve seen so many memes of smuggling City players into our team as ringers though I know it’s a crucial fixture. And Saka’s back…

Tarkan · 25/04/2026 12:08

Off to Gayfield for what is no longer our last game as we have play-offs to come. Adding a screenshot of the play-off description LOL.

St Johnstone have already won the league, they got to lift the trophy last night. Partick Thistle, who we are playing today, are definitely second.

We’re currently sitting third but only 3 points above Dunfermline so today will decide if we are 3rd or 4th. If we actually finish 4th then we will be playing at home on my and DH’s wedding anniversary (and it’s also our friend’s 30th birthday that day) so we actually wouldn’t mind that for a celebration for us all.

We are playing West Ham later in Moyes' 750th match as PL manager. They will be up for it after last night's result I reckon.

Tarkan · 25/04/2026 13:17

DH reminded me there’s an away game for Arbroath too. I forgot about that. 🤣 It’s against Dunfermline as well just to make it more fun.

And sorry Dunc we will be “enemies” for 90 minutes today. As you say after that result last night we need every possible chance of staying up. Looks like us or Spurs now unless something crazy happens.

Rochdale v York, York promoted

There was a pitch invasions as well after Rochdale scored

Wednesday (already relegated) losing to Oxford away. Wednesday fans singing "We're going to Bromley and you're coming with us"

Boro won, so MrBref is happy. I am making an exception and watching Wolfsburg vs Gladbach on TV. It is dire, but Wolfsburg are worse than us and probably getting relegated, 0-0 feels like losing to this lot. (there is space for 3,500 away fans. Sold out instantly, so Wolfsburg - famous for not selling out their stadium - released another block of 1000 seats. And over 1,500 seats elsewhere in the stadium went to Gladbach)

Rochdale v York, York promoted

There was a pitch invasions as well after Rochdale scored

It was brilliant. Watched as a complete neutral at the beginning but I ended up rooting for York purely because this would have been their second season with over 100 points and they lost the playoffs to 5th place last time round. And York is a nice day out 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Proper game of football that. It had everything. Excellent goalkeeping kept both sides in it (mum of a keeper so always watch their performances specifically), some absolute sitters missed, two pitch invasions, last gasp winners and equalisers, sheer jubilation and tears on the pitch. I really hope Rochdale go up in the playoffs though. Scandalous if they don’t really.

Rochdale v York, York promoted

Unfortunately, it looks as though the Rochdale fans messed it up for their own team ☹️ It was 0-0 with 6 mins of stoppage time; Rochdale scored on 90+5, which would have meant both the win and automatic promotion over their opponents. Rochdale fans were understandably overjoyed but rushed the pitch instead of waiting 30 bloody seconds for the restart and final whistle. The consequence was that loads of additional stoppage time was added and York equalised on 90+13 and secured the automatic promotion instead. A very costly lesson.

DuncinToffee · 25/04/2026 17:09

Ah well, we didnt show up today and were denied a blatant penalty.

Tarkan · 25/04/2026 17:23

Sorry Dunc but we did need those points. Shame Wolves couldn’t do us a bit of a favour too. 🙈

0-0 at Gayfield and Dunfermline won at Queen’s Park so Friday will decide who is 3rd and 4th. The only difference it makes is who is home first. Our next three matches are now all against Dunfermline thanks to the play offs LOL.

Comefromaway · 25/04/2026 17:30

Vale can’t even win when the keeper gets sent off!

Birthday present from Moyes @Tarkan , we were really bad today.

Kirbert2 · 25/04/2026 18:30

Well that was embarrassing. 4-1 defeat and our first loss at home since October.

Tarkan · 25/04/2026 18:51

Oh I also forgot that we had a pitch invader today. Lad in a hoodie (there’s already stuff on TikTok about it) and tbh we hadn’t noticed until the ref stopped the game.

He jumped back into the crowd and started taunting the stewards so a random fan grabbed him and handed him over to them before he was removed from the ground. I’ve been told he may have been under the influence of more than just alcohol.

TheSleepingGiant · 25/04/2026 19:23

Not seen any footie just score's but the relief with 3 points today is immense. I was at work and avoided my phone till full time. Maybe too late but today was a must win either way especially with the Hammers result.

Gillingham lost 6-2 away to Barnet. Ainsworth saying today was his worst day as Gills Manager 😬Debut for 17 year old Booth who scored and assisted so that's a positive. Bottom of League 2 very tight, Barrow all but gone on goal difference but 1 of 4 teams could join them on the final day next Saturday.
