Football fans have long memories...
I think perhaps those Arsenal fans remember the Spurs fans "baiting and crowing" in their game v City last season.
Cheering for their own team to lose to spite Arsenal.
If I recall they were doing the poznan with the City fans and Ange had to have a word...
I have seen fans being interviewed outside the stadium and they all say they'd rather go down than see Arsenal win.

I hope West Ham stays up.

Every stand of every football club is made up of different ''categories' of fans. Form proper old school supporters - who love their club but also love and respect the game, to thugs who don't care about anything other than the baiting and fighting opportunities that football gives them, to corporate 'fans' who probably couldn't name the full squad.

Of course there were Spurs fans baiting Arsenal fans and of course the reverse is happening now, and there will always be those who view an entrenched rival falling on par with a success, but I honestly think that people who really truly love the game, don't want to see any of the bigger clubs fall that far.

Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.

But anyway, as I said, I am resigned to it now and trying to find the positives that might come from almost certain relegation.

Piknik · 13/03/2026 09:26

I do love the support that has come out for Kinsky. I hope he can dust himself off. Tudor is coming across as arrogant, rude, over confident and aggressive - but with not much strategy to back it all up. I hope he is gone soon.

I see Klinsmann has thrown his hat into the Spurs ring. We could do worse (we are doing worse!)

Tiswa · 13/03/2026 12:03

Klinsmann came the last time we nearly got relegated back in 1997/98 didn’t he?

burblish · 13/03/2026 14:37

I've just seen that on Sunday, Spurs will be without Van de Ven (suspension) plus Romero and Palhinha (concussion protocol after their clash of heads on Tuesday night) in addition to everyone else who is already injured. Spurs just can't catch a break, can they. (Mind you, the way Liverpool are playing this season, I don't think anyone is writing off Spurs' chances of coming away with something! 🫣)

Brefugee · 13/03/2026 22:24

am just back from Gladbach vs St Pauli - which we won 2-0 so am basking in the warmth of that.

MrsMitford3 · 13/03/2026 22:27

Bask away @Brefugee

it's a great feeling!!

Any wrexham fans? just watched them v swansea.

Crazy rise for them

Brefugee · 13/03/2026 22:34

Wrexham? pleased for their fans, of course, but it is all down to money.

Wednesday in the news again for all the wrong reasons.

MrsMitford3 · 13/03/2026 22:49

Agree-def leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Feels a bit hollywood...

Chatting with DH and Ds about this, Southampton apparently the model to stay up.

Burnley finished higher but going back down.

Fascinating

I do get what you mean but quite a lot of clubs who were average have risen to the top, just because of money invested (Man City being a prime example).
I think it’s more obvious with Wrexham because they are famous actors and they’ve made a show about it.

Brefugee · 14/03/2026 09:50

well quite - i am very much anti the English club ownership model. I much prefer the German 50+1 method. (which of course, got set aside for Leipzig which is why so many of us hate the club)

Tiswa · 14/03/2026 10:15

It’s not just Wrexham - last night was also Snoop Dogg (minor ownership) Tom Brady owns Birmingham and Burnley included JJ Watt

It is the English club model it just is

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 14/03/2026 10:36

I must admit to having a soft spot for Wrexham cos Parky.

DuncinToffee · 14/03/2026 11:40

The combination of money, celebirity owners (RR mostly) and the tv series definetely attracted players who would otherwise not have signed but it is working for Wrexham and the owners have stuck with it.

I enjoyed the tv show.

Agree that Wrexham being in the spotlight has helped them, but surely more honorable than some of the funding sources that have capitulated clubs to increased wealth - Abramovic was just the start....

Tiswa · 14/03/2026 13:00

And they do seem to genuinely care and try to understand how it works as well which I think helps

and I think they picked a place that needed it as well (which was from memory deliberate)

I can see them making the play off final quite what the story could be at Wembley I have no idea but it has always been one of my favourite matches of the whole season (used to watch with my Grandad as they visited May half term and the last match we ever watched together was the QPR (his team) winning it in 2014)

DuncinToffee · 14/03/2026 19:43

Arghhh, jammie bastards Arsenal.

I really dislike Dixon on comms, it might as well have been Arsenal fan tv.

Ah well, we should have taken our chances.

That was fun at the end! Rather nervy before that.

Congratulations to Max Dowman!

Brightbluesomething · 14/03/2026 19:48

Today is a good but weird day for football. That strange love in around the ref before kick off was bizarre. He had no clue what to do. It looks surreal in the photos.
Then 8 mins of ET from nowhere and the clock freezes at 95 mins and gets taken down…. Yet somehow with a totally different midfield we put in a good performance and won. Can’t complain but it was a very odd one.

Kirbert2 · 14/03/2026 20:04

0-0 for Huddersfield today. Terrible football but I suppose at least we didn't lose away like we usually do.

Comefromaway · 14/03/2026 20:06

Frustrating day. First 20 mins we were awful. Then it became very scrappy. 2nd half Huddersfield should have scored but they seemed not to be able to. Then our fight came out and we battled but to no avail. Ref was very inconsistent, cards given when the shouldn’t & vice versa.

0-0 draw better than a loss but we need more points than that to have any chance.

Cuwins · 14/03/2026 20:13

Pleased with the win today. Takes us to 40 points!

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 14/03/2026 20:14

I do not like football today. I'm going to restart my petition to ban away games. 😭

Comefromaway · 14/03/2026 20:22

We could have done with you winning today Scooby

Piknik · 14/03/2026 21:21

*catapulted not capitulated (I am a Spurs fan so capitulation on the mind)
