totally forgot to post yesterday but my DH said "can you tell your footbally MN lot that i am running round the house, with my shirt over my head shouting 'we are top of the league' thanks"

Go Boro.

Just wait until Castledine starts firing when he's fit. Tell him he should be excited.

I know we're only in League 1 but he's some player. Definitely should help Boro get over the line.

Hellohah · 11/02/2026 11:54

Congrats to Boro. Although I work with a Coventry City fan who isn't best pleased 😂
I'd be happy if Boro and Coventry come up automatically and am a bit sorry for Preston dropping out of the playoff places. I'd like them to come up too.

I also dislike the haircut guy. It's doing my head in a bit now, all this for charity bollocks. Nothing to do with building himself a profile now at all.

Fandango52 · 11/02/2026 12:22

I’m very sad about Frank being sacked, but not surprised :( I really liked him. I hope Spurs can find a manager who works well with our style/plans and who we stick with for a good few years and can develop with.

The ideal model for me would be Klopp and Liverpool, or Guardiola and Manchester City. I know these sound like ridiculous comparisons though 🤣 so maybe I’ll settle for now with Southgate and England or Carrick and Manchester United (sounds more realistic and I’m also happy with that).

Perhaps we could poach Carrick? 🤔 (sorry @Hellohah!)

JasonTindallsTan · 11/02/2026 10:45

I agree. It should be daylight between the players. Or it should just be done on their feet. Or some other metric that means you don’t get a goal disallowed because you didn’t get a fresh trim the day of the game.

Isn't this change coming in for next season, that there has to be daylight for it to be offside, so giving the 'advantage' to the attacking team which will make it more exciting as should mean more goals are scored.

Can't wait to see who Spurs bring in!

Hellohah · 11/02/2026 15:05

@Fandango52 I really like Thomas Frank too.
I feel for us both on this stupid manager merry-go-round!

Erm, I don't know about Carrick. I have a lot of love for that man, but I remember what this club did to Ole and it broke my heart a little, I'd hate for it also to happen to Carrick. If it was best for him, I'd say take him but don't chew him up and spit him out. If he doesn't get our job permanently, I'd love for him to go somewhere and do really well.

Tiswa · 11/02/2026 15:11

@Itstheyearitstarts i think they are considering it nothing has been set so far as far as I know

@Hellohah i remember him from spurs and i agree - it’s the same with the Spurs job that has a habit of destroying managers as well (Chelsea is another!)

burblish · 11/02/2026 18:45

Re changes to the offside rule: my understanding is that IFAB will look at Arsenal Wenger's "daylight" proposal at their AGM at the end of this month, and will decide whether to trial it at senior level. Originally, the FAs of the home nations (each of which is an IFAB member, alongside FIFA) were thought to be against the "daylight" idea but speculation is that they may be warming to it. If a trial is carried out, it's thought that the top flight of the Canadian domestic league will be the guinea pig to start with, but other senior trials would also be needed as they don't have VAR in the Canadian league.

Tiswa · 11/02/2026 19:03

Do you need VAR for the proposal

i mean we might as well go BACK to eyeline

Brexit supporting ManU boss shows he's racist...

https://news.sky.com/story/bluesky-13506333

Billionaire who lives in Monaco to avoid paying tax in Britain, and who thinks British public money should be put towards his football club's new stadium, is worried about all the brown people draining the public funds he does not contribute to himself but wants to siphon off for his private investment project. Nothing to see here, folks...

I don't think they're planning to do away with VAR for judging offside: my read of it was that they will still use semi-automated offside and have VAR check offside calls - it's the criteria that VAR would be applying that would change to the "daylight" measure (which should, in theory, then lead to fewer goals being ruled out for offside). I may be wrong, though!

DuncinToffee · 11/02/2026 20:47

The Crystal Palace v Burnley match Shock

I checked the score, saw 2-0 fo CP, checked again at ht and they are trailing 2-3.

I don’t think they are either but if you are using the word daylight then surely that can be done by a linesman!

Oh dear, this has been a very bad day for managers: Nottm Forest announced about 10mins ago that they have sacked Sean Dyche.

Tiswa · 12/02/2026 08:10

Maybe Spurs could hire him until the end of the season and the get Poch back after the end of the World Cup

missed it on sky sports last time I watched it was all about Jim Radcliffe!

wjat happened to Notts Forest though just such a freefall

I think that if you don't want to be in a relegation battle, then you shouldn't hire an ex Arsenal guy.

Forrest hired Edu and Spurs hired Venkatesham.

Read a mad stat last night that Sean Dyche has Forest's best ever win rate as a manager, even better (slightly) than Clough.

DuncinToffee · 12/02/2026 09:03

I heard it on the radio this morning.

The absolute backlash we got when Dyche was fired Hmm

Not sure that you can say not to hire an ex Arsenal guy, since Arsenal haven't been in a relegation battle.
I think that Forest have many issues including an owner who is impatient and meddles in footballing things that maybe he shouldn't.

burblish · 12/02/2026 10:46

It was only a week ago that Dyche was among the nominees for January's Premier League manager of the month. 🤯

You're not kidding, especially this season:

August: Arne Slot (Liverpool have fallen off a cliff since)
September: Oliver Glasner (announced he will leave Palace at the end of the season)
October: Ruben Amorim (sacked)
November: Enzo Maresca (sacked)
December: Unai Emery (Villa fans desperately hoping he bucks the trend!)

DuncinToffee · 12/02/2026 14:37

Men in Blazers

Nottingham Forest have sacked Nuno Espírito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche during the 2025/26 campaign 👋

The club is averaging a new manager every 60 days, which means boss number five should be here before the end of the season ☠️

I was joking! I think it is just a coincidence that the 2 clubs who have hired ex Arsenal staff are both unexpectedly in a relegation battle.

Mind you, I think Edu is the cause of Forest's downfall as he fell out with Nuno who they should have kept.
